The Revelation
Chapter 6: The Revelation
Outside the glass wall, I stare at the child. He seems calm and collected. Dark skin, eyes and hair. He feels my presence and turns around, I smile at him and he reciprocates. The glass is thick with a small open crease only big enough for a small hand to reach out to and small wholes at the top.
I place my hand on the glass "Hello, what's your name?"
With no hesitation he answers me "Jason and yours?" his voice is delightful.
"I'm Nyla, you remember me right?" he nods his head and moves up to the slot, his little hand slides out to me. I look at it and reach out to him. Jason quickly puts his hand on top of mine and I'm drawn to another world. The world in front of me clouds over, my eyes close,
~ I feel my eyes opening again, but I don't recognize the place. * Where am I? * A desert.
A familiar voice calls out to me "Help me Jack" I turn around but see no one.
"Riddick?" I begin to search for him but can't find him. I'm running, when the ground under me gives way. I fall into darkness. I cry out in pain and it echoes.
"Traitor" is yelled behind my ear, my head snaps in that direction, I come face to face with him. Goggles off, I can see the anger in his eyes. My mouth drops, my own anger surging in my system.
"What's the verdict Jack? Red or Green?" a sly grin forms on his face, he turns and runs into the darkness.
"Wait, Riddick!" I yell. ~~
It takes me a while to realize what Jason just did to me. He pulls away and sits down, a frightened look on his face. I frown, trying to understand, he crawls into a corner and begins to whimper.
"What's wrong Jason?" I hardly get the sentence out when, the earth beneath me shakes violently, I fall against the glass wall, the lights are turned off throwing the whole room into darkness, a few seconds later the red emergency lights begin to flash. The alarms are sounding and I struggle to get up. I run to the training camp outside and spot a flight officer.
"Hey what's going on?" I try to yell over the sirens.
"We're under attack, it's a code 9" he runs to the tower.
My fingers are shaking so much I can hardly dial Deacons number ~ the line's busy? Shots are being fired from the docking zone. * Shit * I'm not armed. Quickly I head towards the sector below; the weapons cargo and find Deacon loading up.
He spots me and throws an arm around my shoulder "Get ready to dance baby."
"What's a code 9?" I ask unembarrassed, there's just too many to keep track of.
" A salvage situation, they're here to rescue the Kyie woman and kid" I can feel the goosebumps run up and down my spine. Arming my self I head to the tower and gasp at the sight, it's been totally destroyed, computers, terminals, comm. units, everything obliterated. * That explains why I couldn't call Deacon * I head to the laboratories, as I turn a corner I trip over one of the guards that's lying on the floor. Without missing a beat I stand up and check his pulse ~ nothing. Slowly my head turns to Jason ~ he did this. Next to the cell there's a terminal, I sit on the chair, bringing up all security breaches. To my surprise the Kyie woman has escaped, my fingers go crazy bringing up any info on her location, to no avail. There's a whole parameter that I have no clearance for, I remember where they keep the codes, I jump out of my seat, head to the back of the room for the vault; a small steal room but without lights it takes me a while to find them ~ Bingo! My blood goes cold when I hear Jason's voice shout "Ryan!" in glee. Through the corner I try to sneak a peak at this Ryan whose picture I'd been looking at only moments earlier. Crouching down in military position, I crawl towards the cell, my instincts kick in again ~ I wait no more. I jump out from behind the lockers pointing my gun, to find one pointed right back at me. We both stare at each other for a moment.
With an eerie sly grin he says, "Hello, Jack" his gun doesn't budge.
"Hello, Riddick" neither does mine.
