Life after Metamorphosis
Chapter 30: Life after Metamorphosis
The next few months Riddick spent it looking over his files. He learned so much about himself, things he knew nothing about. The animal inside of him could be contained and it showed hiw. Tw. The experiment had been successful, thus Riddick had survived. Their mistake was to think they could contain him. No longer was he ashamed of what he’d turned into, no longer would he reminisce of that boy he once was. The metamorphosis was now complete and he had the knowledge and means to control it. Not only that, but now he’s able to help Jason develop his skills and learn to manipulate them from an early age. Soon after they reached the Clarendon systems Riddick and Jack were married by none other than Imam. Jack insisted he conduct the ceremony and Imam boarded the first flight to Belloso, the planet Riddick now called home. Deacon also settled in the planet taking a security job, he changed his identity and promised Jack to keep in contact. Riddick never told Jack of Deacon’s planned betrayal, not after he protected Saia with his own life.

The sun is setting giving the lake a warm cozy feeling. The warm breeze is comforting. Jack sits on a wooden swing combing her first born’s hair, Rhianna who is now 4 years old. Jason sits on the front lawn playing with his little two-year-old cousin Ryan. Saia comes out of the house with a plate of cookies for the children and goes back inside when the phone rings. Riddick contemplates it all. Appreciating the new life he’s able to live. He sits next to Jack and gives her a kiss. Rhianna giggles at the display of affon fon from her parents. On the lawn Jason is on the ground while Ryan climbs on top of him pulling on Jason’s shoulder length hair.
“Come on big guy, that’s enough of torturing your cousin” Riddick picks up his son and carries him to the porch.
“Uncle” Jason calls out, his child’s voice already changing to a mans.
“Yeah” Riddick looks back.
“Its Carmine” he says. Riddick looks towards the house as Saia comes out with the phone in hand and a smile. Jason’s abilities were already surpassing his own.
Riddick places his son in Jack’s arms and takes the phone.
After a long conversation, Riddick returns and sits with his wife.
“Whas that your uncle Carmine daddy?” Rhianna asks, although she’d never met him Riddick made it a point to tell her about him. After they arrived in Belloso Riddick contacted Carmine and they’ve kept in contact ever since.
“Yes it was princess” he answers looking at Jack.
“So?” Jack asks
“Just checking up like he usually does. Still trying to convince me to work as a spy for him” Jack sighs and places her head on his shoulder. She knows he will never work for the Corporation. Life was good and she wonders if this is what they always had planned for them all along. Riddick picks up Ryan and begins to play with him, flinging him in the air like a flying superhero. Jack wonders if her children will have Riddick powers and abilities although Rhianna was already showing signs of telekinesis. She would play tricks on her and move things when she was cooking. Ryan is a very smart child, his abilities still don’t show, but she was anxious to see her children grow up and embrace their gifts as she and Riddick would teach them to do.
Who would had ever thought back when things started that there could be a happy ending for them?…
Jack did. Under her breath she whispers, “Never had a doubt.”
