Sarah awoke, smelling only sweat and alcohol. Her vision was blurry but she started to make out a figure before her, whose hands were coming closer to her face. Suddenly, she heard a raspy voice choked with emotion, “Sarah! Sarah is it really you! Whatcha doing ere?!!” “Ouffff” she mumbled. She realised this raspy voice was the one and only Hoggle. His face had not aged a day since she left the Labyrinth many years ago. He helped to her feet; she said nothing, gazing in awe at her long lost friend. ‘I can’t believe it's you!’ whispered a very high and emotional Sarah. ‘That rat Jareth has’n brought you here has he’ shifting his gaze across the place.
For the first time Sarah took in her surroundings, they were in what appeared to be a bar, somewhere Sarah was well acquainted with. There were goblins is various stages of drunken stupor around them and Hoggle tugged Sarah into a darker side of the bar where they would be less noticed. The night grew late, Hoggle and Sarah had been reminiscing at the bar for hours and She had not even noticed that time had passed. Hoggle told the tales of how the labyrinth had changed over the years, turning the king into this reclusive, bitter monarch. “Jesus” Sarah said she had not realised the damage her departure had caused since her last visit to kingdom. Hoggle shook his head as he sipped his goblin ale. “Hoggle” she whispered. “You have no idea how life has been back home!!” tears filled her eyes. She rubbed them away and realised how close Hoggle’s face was to her own. In a moment of sheer confused emotion and wanting to be close and comforted Sarah kissed the dwarf for the second time, this time with the passion of a woman not a child. As soon as the kiss was broken Sarah was taken aback by the cold wind that set through the place. And the glitter which drifted down from the newly appeared Jareth, ‘Hogwart, it seems you have brought me company’ sneered jareth darkly. Haggles hopped of the bar stool and feel to his knees before his monarch. “Yer majesty I didn’t do nufin sir.” “Oh hogshead shut it, I have much more interesting things to do right now.” He kicked him to the side, sitting down on the newly vacated bar stool. Sarah stared at the man who had haunted her dreams for so long, not knowing how to react to this overpowering assault on her dulled senses. They stared at each other for a moment. Jareth stared into her eyes, noting the overlarge pupils. “What do you want goblin king? Remember you have no power over me.” This struck a nerve in Jareth, causing him to grit his teeth as his temper flared. How can such a mortal girl drive him to anger so quickly? “It seems Sarah you’re not quite yourself this evening. Maybe night in the tower will remind who your speaking to, and whose kingdom your in.” As jareth conjured a crystal in his hand, Sarah began to panic as flash backs appeared in her mind. She knew the only escape was for her to run. She scrambled away as fast as she could but the crystal hit her dead on target in the middle of her chest. A spinning sensation like falling engulfed Sarah.
