OK, finally I can sit down and review. OK, I was totally bummed when I read what I thought was the latest chapter, it didn't help me at all find out what the pineapple was going on with our dear Beth. Not that I am complaining, full of Jack and Hector it was. I love that Calypso gave Hector a way to find Beth. And I loved Jack and Hector's conversation about it, and well, everything. They can't bloody get along, like toothpaste and orange juice those two. LOL. I loved how Hector was embarassed about trying the "beacon" thingy, and his fears that Jack or the crew, well, not the crew, but Jack making fun of him for it. And yes, dear dear Beth did take something of his. Poor girl, traipsing about the swamp, getting all icky and covered in mud. I was askerred when she thought that Jones had spotted her in her hidey hole. I am glad that she managed to escape on her own, but she still also ends up being the damsel in distress, needing aid, and I know that pisses her off to no end. LOL. I know I would be. I was surprised, but not really, at Hector's reaction to Beth's elation at his arrival. Salty though he is, he is a bit of a softy inside, and you know men, they have to protect their silly feelings, never ind we put ourselves on the line too....but I digress. I knew with all the monologuing (sp) would create some problems. I mean, I've seen enough movies and read enough books to know that when you've been rescued, get the hell out of there. LOL. I don't entirely believe though, that Jack was a triple agent. (is that right? I get confused with that. LOL.) I know that although he *does* look out for himself, generally, he does have somewhere inside of his puzzling brain, he does have good intentions. But as we have discussed, everyone in this fandom looks out for themselves. I don't want to believe he's dead. I mean, he's immortal too, (right?) so he can heal up like Hector, and if the "baddins" don't know that, Beth and Hector still have hope. Maybe I am just partial to him, but I think since he could see Beth and Hector didn't have a chance at keeping the portal safe, he was being a quadruple agent, so he could somehow sabotage their plans, cause he *had* to know that Beckett, Norrington, and Jones don't harbor the nicest of feelings for him, and would want to eliminate him as well, so I am hoping that he was just trying to do what Calypso said, and keep the portal from the those wankers. I could be wrong though. ^.^ I loved all your descriptions of the everglades and Beth's trek through it. Very lovely, I felt like I was there, suffering right along beside her. I also love the image I got of Hector readying his ship and his men for battle. Well, that's long enough, I suppose. Gotta go review Grace now. XXOO

    BonnyBlondeLass,

Are you going to post more?

You left Barbossa and Liz at such a precarious position. I really want to find out what happens in the rest of this story. You've got me hooked and I check back every day for another chapter.

All the best! (Please don't make me get down on my knees begging for more!)

It's hard for me to believe that Hector would trust Jack Sparrow after all this time. He must know the two-faced ways that Jack treats everything, always thinking about himself instead of others (I'm not much of a Sparrow fan - even though I think Johnny Depp did a fine job with the characterization). So I think that Hector must have something up his sleeve or tanned biceps anyway. And I agree, I wouldn't count Jack out yet, he has a way of coming back.

Great writing! I can see every swap and insect in it due to your tenacity for detail.

Keep writing more - I keep checking back every single day to read the continuing stalwart and sexy saga of Hector and Elizabeth in the 21st century.

Thanks! Keep up the great work!

Hey, sorry it took a while to get to reviewing. I certainly did love this chapter! Beckett and Jones are nefarious as ever, and that double-crossing Jack Sparrow! So typical of Jack, trying to play both ends against the middle, getting himself in trouble for it, but usually he comes out on top. Things do not look so good for Sparrow this time, but I'm not counting him out just yet.

As for Liz and Hector, well, can't say I'm surprised he didn't take her back right away, though he certainly did throw an awful lot of difficult information at her all at once. I'm sure he was touched that she wore his necklace, so I look forward to hopping into his head in the future. Beckett & Jones aren't satisfied yet, so there's still plenty of drama to come, I expect (and hope)! You've certainly got me quite on the edge of my seat waiting for the next chapter!

    Cheers!

So have I mentioned that you have a real knack for this?lol I actually feel sorry for anyone not reading this, becuause they're truly missing something great! Even without being tied to POTC, this stands on its own as a great story!

The change you made in Hector's reaction to Calypso's motivation is marvelous! You did just what I hoped you'd do too! Hector's in this funk right now of how Elizabeth never loved him before, and she doesn't love him now, some things never change. And then you mirror that with how Calypso used him before (brought him back from the dead) and now she's using him again...yeah, some things never change! Great writer's instincts there!

I also love how you've built Hector up as this rough tough biker/pirate, tooling around on big ol' Panshovel in black leather, but it's the softcore "follow your heart" that leads him where he needs to be. But in doing that, you haven't sacrificed the rough tough exterior in any way that makes us doubt it. We know what and who he is, you've just given him a touch of romance that makes him down right irresistible!

So, fantastic job again! Looking forward to the next chapter, because wherever you take us, you do so masterfully!

Okay... I'm telling you stuff. Stuff, stuff stuff stuff stuff, and some stuff and some other stuff. KAY???? Now get back to work on this I want MORE!!!! *cracks whip* LOL... J/K. I don't think she needs saving as much as she needs found. The way I figure it, she managed to get out of the house and is running like a deer for wherever it is that she thinks she'll be safe. I think she'll be happy to see Hector and he won't believe her and she'll wanna kill Sparrow and OOOOOOHhhhh... so much DRAMA!!!!! Seriously, get back to work!!!

This is honestly one of the best fanfictions I have ever read, in any fandom. This is one of the best *stories* I have read! Every new chapter brings some wonderful new piece of information that brilliantly connects to the movie, while standing firmly on its own. I love that Jim turned out to be in cahoots with Beckett and Jones! And that he seems to be in over his head, didn't quite know what he was getting into. Sort of the unintentional villain, much as he was in the movies. The notion of changing time, going back and "fixing" something is hardly novel, but is such an intriguing concept that it's never old, and fits well into the PotC universe. The possible consequences of changing your past, both anticipated and unforeseen, can certainly be mind-boggling, especially to people like Hector and Jack. Someone as single-minded as Beckett wouldn't think much on undesirably effects, so long as his main goal is achieved.

Thank you, by the way, for the shout out when you borrowed my phrasing! I'm quite flattered, and I like that you kept Hector & Elizabeth's relationship in the old days there, allowing her not to have loved him, but to be able to consider loving him now nonetheless. At least, I hope she can consider loving him now! I love that you've separated them, and that Hector's racing to make sure she's not alone facing her enemies, even as she demonstrates that she doesn't need protection. They're sure to meet up soon; I can't wait to see who Hector encounters first - Elizabeth, or the terrible trio. Curious, too, to see what Elizabeth remembers of old-Jack, and what she felt for him then, and now.

You spin a wonderful tale, and I eagerly anticipate reading more, even as I hope the chapters come slowly so it doesn't have to end!

I'd start out by saying there were a lot of exciting things in this chapter, but if I did, I'd be starting every review that way!lol You've got this thing going in a way that makes us follow right along and believe every word you tell us, and that's the mark of a good storyteller!:-)

I loved the descriptions and rememberances in the first part of the chapter! That had a real student/pupil feel to it that gradually awakened into something else. Personally I've always like that sort of realization thing, particularly in Barbossabeth, but the trick is in doing it without it seeming "creepy." You handled in perfectly! Liz realizing that Barbossa wished to touch her out of desire and nothing else, and that she then let him do so said all that had to be said about that moment!

I LOVE that you brought back not just Beckett, but also Davy Jones! And I love the description of Jones, too! Spitting on the carpet...and it's shag...eeeeewww!lol But I can so see the cable knit sweater and a Greek fisherman's hat and the whole nine yards with him! I haven't seen many modern adaptations of Jones, but they're all going to be measured against yours, now!:-)

And, the 70's decor in the "safe" house was something I particuarly enjoyed! I'm curious, did you do the retro stuff on purpose? In honor of the fact that all your characters are "retro" themselves? That was just a neat juxtaposition that had me smiling all the way through...and also that the "safe" house was anything but "safe" too!

There were a lot of good things in this one and I enjoyed them all! Looking forward to seeing what Beth and Hector are like together when they next see each other, because you always handle them so well! Great job, again and again (and again!) and as always, looking forward to the next installment!

*jumps up and down, squeeing excitedly* Davy Jones, and Cutler Beckett. They were such delightfully wicked characters, and I am so glad that you brought them in here. This story keeps getting better and better. I get lost in your descriptions, the safe house was fantastic. I love the retro decor. ^.^ I feel so bad for Elizabeth, trying to sort everything out. I'm surprised that her head isn't close to exploding or imploding. LOL. I loved how at the beginning of the chapter, you mentioned one of my favorite parts from AWE. When the ship looked as though it were sailing through space....that was a beautiful piece of cinematography. And of course, that little moment between Hector and Elizabeth. I *love* that line that he says to her. ^.^ Poor James. He had no idea what he's gotten himself into. If only he had memories from his past self, he would have remembered the betrayal from Beckett. I'm telling you woman, this story is getting more and more exciting. Every chapter I read always leaves me eager for more. I wonder if they are going to rush right outside, or if they are going to search the house first, giving her a bit of time to escape. And how *is* she going to escape by the way? Oh, Elizabeth, I hope that Jack and Hector come looking for you, so they can save you. She won't be too happy about that on some levels, being the damsel in distress, and needing rescuing again and all, but I am sure she would prefer it to death. ^.^ As always, I cannot wait to read more. I also wanted to thank you for reading and reviewing my story. I feel I am floundering a bit, it's my first period piece, but with the encouragement from your review and the others I have gotten, I feel I am doing something st least a little bit alright. XXOO

Hey Laura! I'm so happy to see this story getting the readers, reviews and discussion it's getting! You have a true gift when it comes to writing POTC characters, Beth and Hector in particular! It doesn't matter what they're doing or what they're discussing, as soon as they're in the room together they just sizzle!:-) And I also love that I can see the gears in their minds working as they are talking to one another--Hector is so hurt that he can't help but wound Beth--Beth is so shocked that she's rejecting the past reality even as she is accepting it, and that's so very her too! But even as you're pulling them apart in this chapter, you're also showing them as being so similar that they can't belong with anyone else but each other!

And then there's Jack! There's been a lot of...shall we say "misuse" of Jack in fics like this one. He does tend to take over things, and his personality is too huge to shove into some type of cameo role, it always feels awkward. But you write him into exactly the right places in exactly the right way. At first he's on the bad guy's side and can't be trusted, and then it turns out he's only pretending to be on the bad guy's side...but he still can't be trusted.lol It's great how you've got this handle on Jack where you can make him cause things to happen without having him become the reason for everything happening!

And, you've handled the relationship between Beth and Hector expertly, too! I love that you were brave enough to separate them in this chapter! I'm eager to see how it is that they end up back together and what they become on the journey back together too! You've done so much in this story that has fascinated me and everyone else, reaching corners with the plot and characters that aren't often appreciated! Like I said before, if Disney Corporation has any sense, they'd be doing this with the 4th movie, and if they go another route with the 4th installment, then there's a lot they could learn from YOU!:-) Wonderful job!

After 18 chapters, you still have me enthralled.
I can't give you any con/crit as everything you've done so far is absolutely perfect. Keep up the great work! I can't wait to see what direction you take this in next. :)

Oh the angst!! I love it. And Hector is a mean bugger for goading her on like that, and deliberately hurting the poor girl. She's got a flood of memories to try and sort through, and he's being a right bastard. Just like a man to strike out like that and protect his delicate feelings. Not too happy with him right now. But I do feel sorry for him underneath it all. But if he would have taken a pause and let everything marinate for a hot second, and let Lizzie work through everything, I'm sure that she would have gotten over everything eventually, if Hector hadn't hurt her. I loved that Jack was wearing that robe. I laughed out loud when I read that. It made me think about Fight Club when Brad Pitt was wearing that fuzzy pink robe. Am I weird for thinking that's kind of hot? LOL. I loved Hector's reaction to seeing more of Jack than he wanted. That was too funny. And of course they were going to be at each other's throats, like always. Can't get along those too. And Jack, always playing the devil's advocate. He is rather good at it though. ^.^ I was expecting a full out, beat the piss out of each other fist fight, good for relieving stress. Oh Hector, you let her go off with Norrington. *shakes head* If only Jack had told him the day before that he was a bad guy. I hope that they can get to her and rescue her in time, but I doubt that she will be too happy to see Hector, and won't want to go with him. She's going to want to have a good cry, or break something. ^.^ I can't wait to read more, as always. I read in your author's note that you weren't feeling well. Are you sick? *gives Laura some homemade chicken noodle soup* I hope you feel better. XXOO

Oh I am such a bad fangirl, never did review the last chapter. 17 was brilliant, and I LOVED the reveal. It was intense and overwhelming and perfect. And now this! I applaud your courage in having Elizabeth pull away from him. It makes sense, and while there were definitely canon moments where I would believe she loved him, even if only a little, I could easily see her denying that to herself and certainly to him. Or perhaps she felt admiration, even affection, but not love. In any case, it seems right that she would need time to wrap her head around it all, and wouldn't just reassure him that all was well. Love Jack in this, as always, he's grand fun, and his double-agent-ness is so perfectly Jack. Never quite sure who side he's really on. New Norrington as bad guy? Works brilliantly! You wouldn't expect it, so it's that much more fun! I do so look forward to more!

Oi vey. She remembered, and now she's all mad. Well, it was bound to happen sooner or later. Poor Hector, and poor Elizabeth. *sigh* I hope they are able to work through everything, and get back together. Where did Miss Swann run off to? Her ship? I highly doubt she would run off to Jack for comfort, I'm not too sure if she has happy feelings toward him. Sheesh, this is an awful cliffie woman!! I am sorry it took so long for me to review. I read your story the day I got the email, but then our internet was disonnected for a few days. I am very attached to my computer, and by the time we got it back, I was twitching and scratching from withdrawls. LOL. I can't wait to find out what happens next. And I am sorry this review isn't longer, I know normally I leave...a book of a review almost, but my baby is jumping all over me, and it's very distracting. LOL. Atempting to wait patiently for the next chapter.....XXOO
