Disclaimer: I do not own the Pirates of the Caribbean movie series, nor any of the characters from it. I do not make any money from the writing of this story. |
Disclaimer: Do I look like I own Pirates of the
Caribbean? Didn’t think so. Not mine, don’t sue.
Summary: Elizabeth Turner waits for her
husband.
A/N: I am a steadfast Will/Elizabeth shipper,
and there is no way to change that. Seriously, does the fact that Jack Sparrow
gets slapped by nearly every woman he comes across say NOTHING about his
Commitment issues? What about his complete devotion to the Black Pearl? The way that Will is ready to die or sail to the world’s end for
Elizabeth, or how Elizabeth is willing to go to such extreme lengths for Will
(Marry Norrington, threaten to shoot Lord Beckett, etc.) OK, mini-rant done
with, onto the fic.
A Weather Eye On
The Horizon
Will and I were never a normal couple.
An orphan blacksmith and the daughter of a governor, an odd
match however you looked at it.
We realized out love during a voyage filled with pirates,
battles, and Ancient Curses set by Aztec gods.
Will first told me he loved me at a hanging, which he very
nearly wound up taking part in.
Our wedding vows were shouted across the deck of a ship as
we battled for our lives and our freedom and future on the deck of the Black
Pearl, while a storm raged as the sea-goddess Calypso screamed her fury and
betrayal.
Now I am the Ruler of the Brethren
Court, and Will sails as the Captain of the Flying
Dutchman, ferrying the souls of those who die at sea.
He is bound at sea for ten years, and then permitted one day
on shore.
Many would think this a terrible fate, worse than death.
But, as my husband says, that depends on the one day.
Truthfully, I do not know if I could be satisfied with any
less. I was raised in High Society, but it was never the life I would choose. I
could never be content hosting tea-parties and making small talk all day.
True, I would prefer to have Will by my side, but this life
is one that I am happy to live.
And so I wait, keeping safe Captain Turner’s heart, which he
says has always been mine.
The Flying Dutchman is the heart of the sea, all that it
represents, and so must always have a captain.
But the captain must have his heart kept safe, must have
something to come back to when ferrying souls to the afterlife.
Ten years at sea, ferrying the souls of those who die at
sea.
One day ashore, to be spent with the one who truly loves
him.
This is the charge laid upon the Captain of the Flying
Dutchman.
To wait for his return, to guard the Captain’s heart, and to
give him hope for something to look forward to.
This is the charge laid upon me, Elizabeth Turner, King of
the Pirates, and wife of Will Turner.
“Keep a weather eye on the horizon”, and one day I will see
the Dutchman return. Until then, I will wait forever.
A/N: So what did
people think? You’ve taken this long to read my work, you can probably spare a
few more to review.
