the new chapter.

Fenris Mourningstar: I
can't tell you how happy your review made me. I try to keep Egypt as

Chapter 8 – The Prophesy
As soon as Ardeth had
turned around to face him Rick threw himself into his lover's arms.
He had encouraged Ardeth to return to his tribe, hoping to find a new
adventure. But the truth had shocked him to the core.
He would have liked to
just grab Ardeth, Alex and Jonathan and run back to Cairo, trying to
hide from the oncoming war. But his lover would never agree to that.
Now that he had returned to his tribe Ardeth had easily reestablished
himself in the leading role, he wouldn't turn his back on his duties
again. Rick cursed his own decision, knowing that the loyalty and
devotion he had always admired in his lover was about to bite them in
the ass.
Ardeth almost seemed to
read his thoughts as he pressed a kiss to Rick's forehead and
murmured softly: “I would like to run too, but I can not.”
Placing his hands on Rick's cheeks their eyes locked firmly on each
other as the Med-jai's thumbs traced his lover's cheekbones. “You
have to understand that Rick.”
Nodding his head Rick
looked down before capturing Ardeth's lips in a fierce desperate
kiss. Never before had he been this afraid for someone he loved, not
even when Imhotep had abducted Alex. Back then he had known the enemy
he faced, but now they would have to fight against a whole army of
fierce warriors, who had no other goal but their deaths. Even Rick,
who never lost hope saw it as quite the hopeless situation.
After breaking their
kiss they walked in the direction of Ardeth's hut, both lost in their
own thoughts. The sun was already sinking below the horizon and
shadows hid the frantic activity that had broken out all over the
Med-jai village.
He needed to get Alex
out of here. Jonathan would probably go with him too. Rick knew that
his brother-in-law could be brave if he wanted to, but unlike the
Med-jai he was willing to throw his pride over board very quickly if
it seemed smarter to run. And every sane person would say that in
their situation it would be smarter to run.
Deeply sunk into his
thoughts Rick hadn't noticed that they had arrived in front of his
lover's hut, but when Ardeth stopped walking he finally lifted his
head again. Darkness had settled over the camp, his lover's face
barely illuminated by a flickering torch light.
“I need to go to Jonathan and
Alex. I want them to leave tomorrow.”
Ardeth nodded his head
and Rick could see that he was thinking about something. “I
want you to go with them. I want you to be save and there is no
guarantee that we will win this war.”
Rick wanted to hit and
kiss his lover at the same time. It was true that he appreciated the
fact that Ardeth worried about him, but he wasn't going to let his
lover face this imminent threat all by himself. He had promised
Ardeth that he would stay at his side and he wasn't going to break
his promise.
“No. I told you that I will
stay at your side and I will. You can't keep me from doing what I
want to. I just want to make sure that Alex is safe.”
“Rick...”
Tired of arguing with
his lover Rick silenced Ardeth with a kiss, the Med-jai immediately
yielding to his assault. Their tongues met in a fierce caress,
solving their argument in a quick rush of lust and desire. But there
was no time to satisfy it now. Breaking away from his lover's lips
Rick walked back in the direction of his own hut.

Ardeth had taken long
to finally fall asleep, his thoughts circling around the oncoming war
and his lover. He was both worried and relieved at the same time
about Rick's decision to stay at his side. Worried because his lover
might get hurt or, he didn't even want to think about it, killed in
the battle and relieved because he needed Rick at his side.
As soon as he fell
asleep the Med-jai immediately found himself in a richly adorned
temple again. But this dream was different from the others he had
had. Walking down the long hallway that stretched in front of him
Ardeth passed groups of Med-jai warriors, but he didn't pay attention
to them. He didn't know why, but somehow he knew that he had to hurry
further.
Entering a large throne
room he was faced with a huge lioness. She was clad in an old
Egyptian linen dress, gold ornaments adorning her body. Involuntarily
sinking to his knees Ardeth stared at the great goddess, awed at the
apparition.
“Ardeth Bay, leader of the
Med-jai. You have returned to your tribes, but the danger is still
present. Take heed of my advice and your tribes will come out of the
war victorious. Ignore my command and the blood of your people will
stain the desert sand.”
“What do you want me to do,
great goddess?”
“Find my temple, hidden in the
desert. You will find the solution there.” Ardeth noted that
the Med-jai warriors had come closer and suddenly they turned into
lions, walking on their hind legs and looking fierce and ready for
battle.
Ardeth sat up in his
bed the words of Sekmet still echoing in his minds. And he finally
knew what they had to do. The Med-jai had long known about a temple
of Sekmet that was hidden in the desert, but they had never explored
it before.
Although they believed
in Allah and lived by his words, the Med-jai still strongly
remembered the tales of the Gods of old. His father had once told
him, when he was still a small child, that the Egyptian gods had all
been sent by Allah and if one of them appeared and gave orders, they
had to be heeded as if they came from Allah himself.
Getting up from his bed
Ardeth quickly threw on his robes and strode towards the meeting hut.
They had no time to waste.

Looking at the warriors
around himself Ardeth nodded his approval. It had been around
Midnight, when he had alarmed the other leaders, telling them of his
dream. They had been skeptical at first, but in the end they had
decided to trust his judgment. And now the strongest and best Med-jai
warriors were gathered around him, waiting to set off in the
direction of the temple.
Rick was sat on a horse
next to him, the only one not dressed in the traditional Med-jai
robes. The sun glittered in his hair as it rose over the horizon. He
had wanted to make sure that Alex and Jonathan ride to Cairo, but had
decided against it in favor of joining his lover.
They hadn't had much
time to talk this morning, but from what Rick had told him Alex
hadn't been too pleased by being sent away. But he had yielded in the
end. Breaking his gaze away from his lover Ardeth focused his
attention on the Med-jai that just rode up to him.
“My leader, we are ready to
depart.”
Nodding in agreement
Ardeth lifted his hand, giving the riders the command to pay
attention to him. “We ride.”

Alex watched from
behind one of the huts, while the Med-jai warriors gathered in the
middle of the village. He was dressed in the typical Med-jai robes, a
scarf hiding the lower half of his face. He was certain that the
Med-jai wouldn't recognize him, but he needed to stay away from his
father.
He knew that he was
supposed to ride to Cairo, but he had eavesdropped on the council
meeting and if the war was going to be that bad, he wasn't going to
leave his father alone. He had already lost his mum and he wouldn't
risk his dad too.
Besides why were the
adults always thinking that he was too young to understand things and
go with them? As if he wasn't able to figure it out on his own. He
had noticed his father sneaking out of their hut in the first week
they had stayed with the Med-jai and had followed him out of simple
curiosity.
At first he had been
shocked that his father and Ardeth were lovers, but he had adjusted
to the idea. The Med-jai was a decent enough guy and he wasn't as
over-protective as his father. Rolling his eyes as he saw the two of
them look at each other Alex redirected his attention to Jonathan,
who had appeared next to him.
His uncle was also
dressed in Med-jai robes and led two horses. Sceptically looking at
the gathered warriors he said: “This is your fault if we get
caught. Your father told us to go to Cairo.”
“Come on, Uncle Jon. Don't be
a coward. Besides my dad will be far madder at you, if you let me go
alone.”
Jonathan shook his
head, but he still mounted his horse. Alex was far too much like Evy.
The two of them joined the Med-jai, hoping that nobody would
recognize them. They were lucky, because the attention of the other
warriors was trained on their leader, who was giving them the sign to
ride. Blending into the group they rode into the desert.
