Hello, I think it's
time for a new update,as my reviewers so nicely asked me.
Unfortunately I probably won't be able to update as frequent as
before in the future, because I have to repeat some exams I failed
(Reality sucks!!!!). But I'll try my best to keep feeding my readers.
Chapter 7 – Family Reunion
Working on a customer's
car Dom tried his best to keep a big happy grin from spreading over
his face. The rest of the team were already throwing him wondering
glances because of his exceptionally good mood. As he was changing
the tires of the vehicle, Mia approached him.
“I take it did go well?”
“What makes you think so,
sis?”
“You're in a good mood and you
didn't come home last night.”
At her comment the grin
that had already threatened to break out
the whole day finally spread over Dom's face. Chuckling Mia turned
around and went to get herself a drink. Dom finished the car he had
been working on and helped himself to a Corona. The business was
going slow at the moment, so Jesse, Leon and Vince were all peering
under the hood of Leon's car, trying to fix a problem with the fuel
management system. As Vince saw Dom regarding them, he went over to
his long time friend.
“Hey Dom, where's Letty?”
Before Dom could
answer, he saw Brian standing at the garage
entry. He looked uneasy, but unafraid as he took in the surrounding
faces. Vince' s expression of shock turned into outrage in an instant
and he would have launched himself at Brian, had Dom not took firm
hold of his shirt. So instead of being the target to Vince's anger,
he suddenly found himself in a tight hug a la Mia Toretto.
“Hey, Dom. I had some time, so
I thought I'd come over.”
“Let go off me Dom. How can
you stay calm, when the fucking traitor is standing right in front of
your nose?” Vince angrily threw at Dom.
“He ain't a traitor and you
all are going to listen to what I'm going to tell you now. Brian is a
member of my team and nobody” ,he looked pointedly at Vince,”is
going to lay a finger on him. He didn't have to come clean to us and
I consider him a part of my family now.”
Dom looked at Vince,
who had snorted after the last sentence,
“Is that clear?”.
“So he's on the team now, huh?
Won't need me any more then.” Vince
stormed of and left with his tires screeching. 'You keep repeating
yourself V.' Dom thought before looking over to Brian, who looked
insecure as Jesse walked over to him. Sending his lover a quick
reassuring smile, Dom went back to work.
“ Is your name really Brian
Earl Spilner?”
“No, it's Brian O'Connor.
Why?”
“Because that was a real
stupid-ass-name.” Extending his arm and grinning from ear to
ear, Jesse said: “Nice meeting you, Mr. O'Connor.”.
Which had the whole
garage breaking out into a laughing fit.

After spending the whole afternoon repairing cars an easy
friendship had developed between Brian, Jesse and Leon again. They
were currently standing next to Jesse's Jetta and discussing tires.
Mia saw Dom washing his hands in the back of the garage and went to
talk to him.
“Seems like the guys are ok with Brian.”
“Yeah, except for Vince.”
“I think he'll come around. When are you gonna tell them
about Brian and you?”
“Not yet. I doubt that Leon and Jesse'll have a problem with
it, but Vince's another matter.”
“I think he'll be glad about it.”
“How do you get that idea?”
“Less competition for my affections.”
Having said that Mia went back to the front of the garage, leaving
a puzzled Dom behind.
“Hey guys. How about we grill something when we are finished
here?”

Brian and Dom were sitting at the table, watching Jesse and Leon
play basketball together. They had already finished eating and were
now enjoying the warm evening air. Dom snuck his hand onto Brian's
thigh under the cover of the table, but he
quickly snatched it back as Mia came out of the kitchen. Looking over
their shoulders she whispered:”I saw that. You're no good at
keeping a secret.”.
At that moment Vince's blue car pulled up in front of the house.
Brian spontaneously decided to help Mia in the kitchen and give Dom
time to sort everything out with Vince.
“You got any food left?”
Vince looked and sounded like he was sorry for his actions, so Dom
waved him over to the table. He wasn't really surprised that Vince
had come back so quickly, because he always did. As he sat down Jesse
and Leon also joined the table.”
“Good to have you back, V.” Leon told him.
“The cop ain't here?”
Dom tried his best not to strangle Vince and finally managed to
say. “Brian's helping Mia in the kitchen and he's not a cop any
more.”
“I still don't like him, Dom.”
“You don't have to as long as the team's work doesn't
suffer.”
In a silent peace offering Vince opened two bottles of Corona and
offered one to Dom. 'Finally everything's going well for once.', Dom
thought gladly.

Meanwhile Mia and Brian were washing and drying dishes in the
kitchen. Brian looked like he wanted to talk, but couldn't find the
right words. So Mia simply started the conversation.
“I'm okay with it, you know. My brother and you, I mean.”
“Oh, that's good. I was wondering if you'd be ok.”
Suddenly Mia started laughing. “ Is it just me or have you
realized how awkward we both sound.”
“I noticed.”
“It really is okay. I'm happy as long as Dom's happy. And
what I felt for you was nothing more than a simple crush. But it was
fun to annoy Vince with it.”
“You know what I find really funny?”
“Please do tell.”
“Everybody thinks I quit because of you. They just get it
wrong.”
“None of them has met Dom. He's like gravity, but you
already know that don't you?”
“Yeah. So we are ok?”
“Sure, I just...” Mia fell quiet as shouting could be
heard from outside. Throwing the dishes back into the sink the two
off them hastily left the kitchen to see what was going on.

Dom had already had a bad feeling as he saw Letty's car pull up to
the house, but he assumed that it was just guilt over their nasty
break-up. But his suspicions were confirmed as she started yelling at
him.
“Hello, Dom. Your beloved faggot ain't here? Or are you
already through with fucking him?”
Seeing the other's confused faces she raised her voice a bit more
and continued her rant. “YOU DIDN'T EVEN TELL THEM? JUST SO YOU
KNOW DOM'S FUCKING THE COP.” She snickered to herself as she
saw comprehension and shock dawn on the other's faces. At that moment
Mia and Brian came barging out of the kitchen door. Mia asked. “Dom,
what's going on?”
“WHAT'S GOING ON. YOU WANNA KNOW IT? YOUR BROTHER HAS DUMPED
ME TO FUCK HIS PRETTY BOY-WHORE. AND IS HE GOOD DOM? DOES HE BEND
OVER NICELY OR IS IT YOU WHO'S TAKING IT UP THE ASS?”
“Letty please. I never meant to...”
“NEVER MEANT TO WHAT? HURT ME? BREAK MY HEART?”
“Yes, I should have told you...”
“SHUT UP YOU BASTARD. I LOVED YOU AND YOU THREW IT BACK IN
MY FACE.” Then her voice broke and tears started pouring
down her face. “Did all these years mean nothing at all?”
“Letty, I'm so sorry.”
“Like that's gonna make it better.” With these words
Letty got back in her car, but she left an eerie, uncomfortable
silence in her wake. Dom put his head in his hands, because he felt
like the worst person ever born. As he came out of his shocked
stupor, Brian went over to him and put a hand on his shoulder. While
Jesse and Leon looked at them with neutral curiosity, Vince got up.
“That true, Dom?” The only answer he got was a barely
visible tipping of Dom's head. Having known him for almost his whole
life, Vince understood the affirmation and went over to Mia. She
looked like she was still in a state of shock.
“You wanna go out some day?”
These six words caused relief to flow through Dom. That was the
closest to an ok he could ever hope to get from Vince.
