Will stood beside Jack at the helm of the Black Pearl as she knifed through the water towards the harbor of Tortuga. Beside him, Jack was quietly stroking the wheel and whispering to the Pearl. Smiling, Will tried to lean in closer to hear what it was that Jack was saying, but upon noticing what Will was doing, the pirate captain ceased talking and grabbed the boy about the waist.ill, ill, 's not nice to listen in. Not jealous of me Pearl, are ye?"
Will hurriedly shook his head no. At this response, Jack raised an eyebrow, and Will guiltily nodded his head ever so slightly.
"Ah whelp. Tis okay, the Pearl understands. 'S just that she is the leading lady in my life. But you are the luv of me life. Savvy?"
Will nodded and smiled, leaning back into Jack's warm embrace.
Reaching up a tentative hand, Jack gently probed the goose egg that decorated Will's temple from the pirate raid of the day prior. Hissing in pain, Will ducked out of the way and glared at Jack.
"Sorry luv. Does it hurt much?"
Truth be told Will had forgotten about the lump with all that had been happening between the two of them, but at Jack's gentle touch, the fire that burned through the lump had returned at full force along with a horrible headache. "What do you think?" Will snapped at Jack, feeling immediately guilty from the sad look that crossed Jack's face. Stepping back towards Jack, Will put his head down on Jack's shoulder and hugged the older man. "Like hell."
Wrapping his arms around Will, Jack turned and kissed the side of the trembling boys head. "I'm sorry Will. Do you want to go lie down for a little while? We're going to be docking here in a little bit. Perhaps you should lie down till then?"
"Don't want to. I'll be fine. Just give me a moment, kay?" Will answered with a small shake of the head, and continued to cuddle Jack.
As they sailed further into the harbor, Jack looked around the ship. Each crewmember was busy preparing to dock. Spying Gibbs standing off to one side, Jack motioned for the man to come up to the helm.
"Cap'n?" Gibbs questioned while worriedly eyeing Will, who stood sagged in Jack's embrace.
Following Gibbs's eyes, Jack smiled at the older man. "Take the helm, dock us on the pier, and give out the orders, mate. Three days leave to the crew, except for the guards. Make sure they know their orders."
Gibbs nodded as Jack stepped aside, allowing him full access to the Pearl’s helm. Jack watched the beach for a moment before he turned and began leading a sick-looking Will toward the Captain’s cabin. Stopping, he shouted over his shoulder, "Spread the word that Captain Jack Sparrow is in search of some more men to join me crew. Savvy? I'll meet you at the Faithful Bride tomorrow morning, mate, to discuss the details."
**************
Upon reaching the door to his cabin, Jack kicked the door in and continued to help the sagging Will into the room. Helping the boy lie down, Jack moved back to the door and closed it softly, then headed towards a small wash basin that sat on a small table in the corner, pouring some water out into the bowl. Jack dipped a soft cloth into the cool water and squeezed it out before heading back towards his bunk. Climbing onto the bunk, Jack proceeded in pulling Will into his lap, carefully laying the damp cloth over Will's forehead. Jack kissed Will gently on the lips. "We'll rest here for a bit luv. When you’re feeling better we'll go out on the town. Why don't you close your eyes for a little while and try to rest okay?"
Will didn't respond instead he simply closed his eyes and grabbed Jack's hand. Squeezing the boy's hand in reply, Jack continued to sit on the bed, holding his young mate as guilt started to over take him. If only he hadn't touched the lump.
Will's breathing evened out a little later, signaling that he had managed to drop off to sleep. Jack sighed in relief; probably the best thing for him. Climbing out of the bed, Jack gently guided Will towards several pillows and make sure the boy looked comfortable before he snuck out of the cabin, topside to see if his mangy crew was taking care of his Pearl the waey sey should. Casting a look towards the helm he frowned briefly. Gibbs, once again, no longer stood at the helm. Instead, Anamaria stood guiding the Pearl into the harbor. Looking around deck, Jack seethed he didn't see Gibbs anywhere. The man was probably dipping into the rum again.
"Cap'n?"
A voice to his left startled him, making him jump near ten feet and unsheathed his cutlass. Turning on a dime,k pok pointed the tip of his cutlass at his assailant's neck, managing to catch himself just in time before he ran Gibbs straight through. Jack lowered his blade.
"That is the second time you've practically ran me through with that blade Captain. Try to relax," Gibbs said, sidestepping Jack and the cutlass he still clutched in his hand.
"Don't you know that it's bad luck to go sneaking around startling Pirate Captains, mate?"
Gibbs nodded. "I wasn't sneaking Cap'n"
"Oh, sure. But while we're on the subject, let’s say you tell me why you're here and not at the helm like I ordered you to be a few minutes ago, Mate?"
"I had a thought, Cap'n, about Will."
"What about him?"
"Boy looks like he's got him self a concussion."
At Gibbs's words, Jack paled. Why hadn't he seen it before? The boy was exhausted, had a horrible headache, and a large bump. Wasting no time, Jack hurried past Gibbs into his cabin and over to the bed. Reaching out a hand Jack gently started to rock Will back and forth trying to wake him
"JJJAAACCKKK! SSTTOOPP!!!" Will whined, trying to push Jack's hands away.
"Will sit up a momen
Will, hearing the concern in Jack's voice, pushed himself into a sitting position and eyed Jack.
"How's your head feeling?"
"Better. Throbbing has stopped now it's just a dull pain. Why?"
"Gibbs thinks that you might have a concussion, and I was just making sure. But if you're feeling better, why don't you lie down a bit more while I look around for your missing shoes, and then we'll go exploring."
Lying back down, Will contented himself with watching Jack move about the cabin looking for his missing shoes. The pirate captain, more than once, angrily tossed items around the room while digging through it to see if Will's shoes had somehow ended up under the mess. A few minuets later Jack shouted in triumph as he emerged from the mess shoes in hand. Heading back toward the bed, Jack sat down on the end and proceeded to help Will get his shoes on. Once done, Jack leaned forward, capturing Will's sweet mouth in a succulent kiss before reaching out a hand and pulling the boy to his feet and leading him topside, stopping briefly to lock the door to his cabin.

"If every town were—“
"Like this than no man would ever feel not wanted." Will interrupted and finished Jack's sentence for him. Then at Jack’s perplexed look he continued. "You've told me before Captain."
Grabbing Will about the waist, Jack kissed him. "So I have whelp."
Leading Will through the narrow streets of Tortuga, Jack kept an especially close eye on him. A pretty lad like Will in a city like this spelled trouble. Oh sure he had managed to hold his own the last time they had been in the city, but that time, truth be told, Jack was so fed up with the boy he couldn't have cared less if something were to happen to the stick. But now…now that he loved the boy, he didn't want anyone to touch him.
On the next street, Jack pulled Will into a small building. Gazing around, Will found him self in a clothing store of sorts. A small man no taller than Jack's waist stood and hurried over to them. "So the sparrow has flown back into town again huh?"
"Aye Colin I have."
Looking around Jack's tall form the little man glanced at Will before smiling broadly. "Who's the kid?" Colin questioned while looking at Will.
Will's feathers ruffled. Who was this strange man? He wasn't a kid. Jack, seeing Will's look of distaste, immediately stepped in between before the boy did something stupid.
"Will I'd like you to met Cutthroat Colin," he said to Will, motioning to Colin. Then looking at Colin, he added "Colin I'd like you to met William Turner."
The little man looked past Jack again, "As in Bootstrap Bill Turner?"
"As in his son," Jack added
Steg arg around Jack, Colin extended a hand towards Will. "Your father was a good man. I sailed with him for a time or two before I retired the life of a pirate and set up shop here."
Unsure of what to say, Will just nodded and glanced around the shop trying to figure out just what it was that Colin was selling. To him it just looked like a trash heap.
"…some pirate cloths."
Will missed the first part of what Jack was saying to Colin. Upon seeing Will's confused look, Jack walked over closer to the boy, wrapped his arms around Will's waist and rested his head on the boys shoulder. "Colin is going to dress you like a pirate luv."
Will turned in the embrace and glared at Jack. "I like the way I dress now just fine that you."
There was something about Colin that Will didn't trust, but he couldn't put his finger on it.
"Hmmm…yes, but you look like a blacksmith, not a pirate. Not fearful enough lad."
Sighing, Will consented, knowing that there was absolutely no way that he was going to win this argument with Jack. Turning, he followed Colin.
Jack waited as patiently as he could, but the two seemed to be taking a long time. Just as he was about to go into the back room in a huff, Colin emerged.
"What took you so long mate?" Jack asked, somewhat annoyed with the little man.
"Nothing much, Jack. Just having some trouble with the boy. He didn't want to put on some of the items I gave him, though he finally settled. I think you'll like what you see."
Jack nodded, now a little more than annoyed with the man. "Will get your pretty little arse out here and show Sparrow."
"Okay okay I'm coming."
Jack saw Will coming and moved towards him as Will stepped past a pile of junk. Jack stopped in his tracks. The boy was gorgeously dressed in: A white, broad collared shirt with a front leather lace-up closer and full-gathered sleeves that lay under a long just below the waist black vest. A pair of black breeches hugged his slim hips, accenting his muscular legs. A bight blue ocean-colored sash wound it's way around his waist several times, tying off with a long tail that reached down to his knees. His feet were covered by soft, black leather boots that matched the style of Jack's own.
Looking up at Jack nervously Will questioned, "Do you like it?"
"Nope, don't like it. I love it. You look perfect, Angel," Jack answered, wrapping his arms around Will and pulling the boy in for a quick kiss.
"We weren't too sure about the jacket or the hat. We thought that, as the captain and lover, you might like to pick those out," Colin said interrupting their kiss. Turning a menacing eye on the little man, Jack tried to control his temper. It wout dot do him any good to get into a fight with cutthroat. Though small in size, he was a very dangerous pirate at one time.
Releasing his grip on Will, Jack followed Cutthroat and Will into the back of the building to help pick out a jacket and hat.
*****************
Hours later, the pair found themselves sitting in the back of the Faithful bride, waiting for their drinks to be brought to them. Different members of Jack's crew sat at several of the tables, either on their way to being drunk or passed out completely. Looking around the room, Will noticed for the first time the dirty looks that where being sent his way by the bar wenches. Feeling slightly put out, he scooted closer to Jack, in turn earning himself a concerned look from the older man, followed by a warm arm being draped over his shoulders and a quick kiss to the side of his head.
"What's wrong luv?"
"Jack every one in here is glaring at me. Can we go back to the Pearl?"
Glancing around to confirm Will's suspicions, Jack saw that the boy was indeed correct. Scowling in the wenches direction, Jack kissed Will full of the lips as it to tease them, then stood from their table and pulled the boy out the door, meanwhile, mumbling under his breath about women.
**************
About half way down the street, Will over heard a conversation that stopped him in his tracks, going cold with unease and pain.
"The Governors daughter and the commodore? Are you sure?"
"Yes I'm sure. Frank just came back this morning from Port Royal. Said the whole town is busy planning the wedding."
"Well I'll be! That lass is one of the prettiest little gals I've ever seenonnaonna make that commodore a lucky man she is."
"Wish I could have a go with her, but she turns her nose up on us folk with no money. Did you hear about the poor sap that sailed half way round the caribbee to rescue her?"
Jack by now had noticed that Will no longer trailed him and had turned around to retrieve the boy. Grabbing Will's arm, Jack dragged him away from the spot where he'd been standing, rooted in place. With a concerned glance at the younger man, Jack briefly thought about picking the boy up. He looked very peaked about something. Maybe his headache was back, but opted against it as they rounded a corner and the harbor came into view.
Leading Will onto the Pearl, Jack made the boy go straight to bed. Will did as Jack asked, hardly saying a word, which worried Jack more than he was willing to admit. Retrieving the soft cloth from the bedside table where it had been left, Jack walked back over to the baof wof water and rewet it in the cool water. Ringing it out, he then carried it over to the bed and placed it gently down on Will's forehead.
"You feeling alright luv?"
"Fine."
"Are you sure?"
"Yes."
"Will?"
"Tired."
Sighing with worry, Jack pulled the covers up over Will's slim body and lent down kissing him on the forehead. "I'll be right back. Savvy?"
"Emmm hmmm"
Jack stood and left the cabin in search of a bottle of rum. Worry edged at his brain the whole time he was gone. It was possible that the boy was just tired as he said, but that didn't feel right to Jack.
>>>TBC
A/n: Okay okay I know give Will a back bone...sorry....The boy is injuried...well healing on the mend now that Jack finally noticed...and after hearing the conversation in Tortuga he's is shock so he's a whimp....bear with me for a little while longer. Savvy?
