Chapter 6
Deck had her walk in front of him. There was a tall african-american man in a leather jacket and jeans. He looked seeing both of them approach him. Deck introduced him to her. She shook his hand briefly. His name was Moses Jakande. The introduction was short immediately getting down to business. Most of their discussion was about people they had targeted or weapons. Anna kept quiet staying by Deck's side. Moses gathered his men while he explained things.
Anna would catch Deck briefly glancing over at her while listening to his friend talk. She knew he had no reason to hurt her. If anything, he was capable of protecting her. Hobbs could protect her as well. The only question was who would she be more comfortable with? Deckard and Anna had know each other for a long time. Even if he was an assassin, she knew he wouldn't let anything happen to her.
"I've heard a little about you from my friend here. Seeing you were someone from his past. He will protect you." Moses looked at her. She nodded at him. Deck looked at both of us.
"I thought assassins were heartless hating everyone," Anna said looking at Moses.
"Not all of us. We only kill who we are assigned to and our enemies. Deck here is a little different than myself." Deck moved closer to her putting his hand on her back. She closed her eyes a moment trying to remember what happened between him. To her, he seemed very loving back then. There were times he would would help her with homework. They had gone no further than holding hands or hugs. As much as he would have liked to he didn't.
"Let's go," Deck said leading her out. We went back to his car getting in. She stayed silent for the remainder of the ride.
"I need to stop by work." He sighed at that not wanting to do this. It was a uncomfortable for him to be near a police station. Deck did it anyway. As much as he wanted to tell her no he did it for her.
"Call me if you need me. Don't be long." His tone sounded trusting. He dropped her off up front. Then drove off somewhere not wanting to be seen. Anna used the stairs to make it to her floor. She walked in and Hobbs noticed her immediately.
"Anna, are you ok?" he asked worried. She sighed at him going into the lab. He quickly paced in there after her. Not saying anything Anna gather what she needed. Hobbs expression was serious as he watched her.
"Anna, talk to me. Tell me what's going on," he demanded. She hesitated a moment, but figured he needed an explanation. He was her boss.
"This is really hard to tell you. The men you are after knew my father. He was stationed there the last two years I was in high school." Maybe, explaining herself wouldn't do her much good.
"Why didn't you tell me?" He asked concerned.
"I didn't know it was them at first. I'd never thought I would see them again." This was a lot for Hobbs to take in. Now that he learned there was history between her and the Shaw's made things more difficult. That still wouldn't stop him doing his job.
"Whatever they were in the past. It's not them. I can get you away from them." Instead, she walked pasted leaving Hobbs with a confused look. For some reason, she didn't want Hobbs help. Maybe it was because of their history. Deck or Owen didn't give her any reason to think differently of them despite what they did. She knew this may jeopardize her job. Anna didn't want to depend on Deck to take care of her.
She called Deck having him meet her a block away. He was already there by the time she showed up. Deck leaned in the passenger side opening the door for her. She got in shutting it.
"What is it?" he asked her. He turned her to face him.
"Hobbs offered to get me away from you. This just complicates things." Deck sat back a moment sighing.
"If he thinks he can keep me away from you he's wrong. I have no fucking problem killing him," Deck's tone was a little angry. He wasn't going to let Hobbs take away the one woman he cared about. Deckard turned the car on leaving. As we drove, two cop cars came up behind us. Deck noticed them from his rear view mirror.
He sped up and they turned their lights on. Not taking any chances, he slowed down going around one of them ending up on the side of one of them. Deck ran into the side of the cop car trying to knock him off the rode. The cop was able to get back on the rode. There were plenty of buildings and trees that he drove past giving him many options. Trying for a second time, the car ran into a building shattering their large glass windows. The other car was still following him. The bridge was ahead. Deck slammed on his breaks getting behind the other car. He had her scoot closer to him holding on to him as he rammed the other car onto the bridge in from the passenger's side.
The impact crushed the cop almost flatting the car. Deck took off leaving him there. Luckily, it didn't effect the car he was driving. He was still able to get away. They both made it back to the house. Deck got out on his side literally having to kick the door open to get out. Anna crawled out as he helped her stand up.
Owen came out seeing the car all wrecked. "What happened?" he asked shocked we survived.
"We had a couple of cops chase us. I took care of them." Deck looked his direction. Owen examined the car seeing how damaged it was. Letty came out surprised seeing the wrecked Audi.
"The damn thing isn't an easy fix. I'll have it towed," Owen stood up kicking the door shut. Deck led Anna inside with him. Owen came in a few minutes after we did.
"I over heard Dom trying to talk to Letty. She said she didn't remember him. What's wrong with her?" Anna wondered. Owen took a few steps closer to her.
"She has amnesia only remembering back from her childhood. There is no guarantee that her full memory will return. For now it's a clean slate. I've been using that to my advantage." Owen explained. Owen was helping her with starting over. He could very easily turn her against Dom if he hadn't already.
It seemed that a relationship established between them by the way he looked at her. "So you and Letty are together?" She asked curiously.
"Yes, I fell in love with who she is now." Nodding at him, she wondered how Dom would deal with that. She remembered the last time she saw Dom he was very distressed wishing he could do more.
"If she get's her memory back?" Owen sighed at that answering her. "Then she will be torn between decisions won't she?"
Deck stayed silent listening to us talk. He knew she was only asking for her own curiosity. Owen left them alone. Anna turned to face Deck. His hands went on her waist as he looked at her. "You know this is going to jeopardize my job staying here."
"You really think i'm going to let you go that easily?" Deck wondered. He didn't care as long as she wasn't near Hobbs. Little did she know he would take care of her if it came down to that. His feelings were slowly starting to build. The way he looked at her showed that he wanted her.
"I don't know. You had plenty of those other women to give you what you want." Deck snickered at that a little. He didn't want them. He wanted Anna. There was so much he felt that he wanted to make up for lost time with her. Now was his chance to do it. He forcefully pulled her closer looking into her eyes.
"I don't give a damn about them. Her body started to tremble a little as he held her close. He was about to kiss her until Letty came in from the front door. It looked like she had been walking for a while. Deck's arms remained around hers as he watched Letty walk by them.
"Deck." He put a finger over her mouth keeping her quiet leading her to the basement. They went downstairs with his hand in hers. Klaus was standing next to Owen. They both looked up at them coming down the steps. Klaus smiled at her a little. Deck saw that giving him the warning to stay away. Anna decided to go talk to Letty. Deck looked her direction not seeming to care. It gave her a another girl to talk to. He didn't seem to care going back to his work.
