Christine and Erik woke up to the frantic shouting of Madame Giry. “Erik! Christine! You must flee!” Erik cursed and pulled his trousers on quickly. Christine wrapped her dressing gown around her shoulders. They both ran out to see what was making Madame Giry so frantic. “Annette! What’s going on?” Erik asked, seeing her face filled with fear. “Erik! Christine! The Vicomte De Chagney has returned! I overheard his plans. He means to kill you and take Christine back! You must leave! He has a band of men with him to hold you back while he ‘takes care’ of Christine! I fear he means to harm her!” “Erik! I know the house is not ready, but we must leave! I don’t want anything to happen to you and I do not want to return Raoul!” Christine cried, her eyes filling with tears. “Ange, don’t worry. We shall leave immediately. Do you think I would let him harm you?” he kissed Christine. “I must grab some things first. I am afraid I do not have any clothes for you. Unless you want to wear Amnita’s costume, you will have to borrow some of my clothes.” Christine ran to Erik’s bedroom. “Annette, get a carriage. We shall be waiting on the front steps of the Opera Populaire.” Madame Giry departed quickly. Erik ran to his organ and began to pack up his books and music. Christine pulled on a white shirt and trousers. She covered her shoulders with one of Erik’s capes, breathing in his scent. He smells like spices… must be because of all the time he spent abroad. Christine returned to the front room, where Erik was stuffing the last book into his bag. “I hate to leave my organ behind, but there is no time. It has served me well.” Erik said, sadly. He went to his room to finish dressing. He came out again, dressed in a black silk shirt and a black cape. “We will be taking a different passage to get out.” He said, putting on his mask. “Must you wear that?” Christine asked, looking disappointed. Erik laughed, but inside, his heart was soaring. “only in public, ange.” They walked down to the boat. Erik pulled a hidden lever, which revealed another tunnel. The opening was resealed after they passed through. Erik and Christine emerged in a dimly-lit cavern. They climbed out of the boat and went to the wall. Erik revealed another hidden door which brought them to the front steps of the Opera Populaire. Madame Giry stood in front of a carriage pulled by two black horses. “Good luck, my dears. I shall come visit you soon.” Annette said, kissing the lovers on their cheeks. Erik helped Christine into the carriage and gave instructions to the driver. Erik and Christine curled up together. Christine fell asleep almost immediately on Erik’s shoulder. Erik watched her, stroking her hair lovingly. Soon, he drifted off to sleep as well, but was woken by the jolt of the carriage coming to al halt a few hours later. He looked out and saw the sun had risen. Christine sat up, rubbing the sleep from her eyes and stretching. “We’re here, mon ange.” Erik said, opening the door. Christine followed him. She looked up and gasped. In front of her was one of the most beautiful houses she had ever seen. It was a small castle with diamond paned windows with red curtains. It had many towers and a large balcony over the front door. “Welcome home, Christine.” Erik said, wrapping his arms around her and kissing her shoulder. “Oh Erik, it’s beautiful!” “It was in ruins when I found it. I had it rebuilt, with some additions of my own.” “Can you show me some?” Christine asked, her eyes lighting up. She loved Erik’s designs, for she knew there would be a lot of secret passageways. “Of course.” Erik beamed at her enthusiasm. He took her hand and they ran inside. ********************************************* Erik’s lair under the Opera House: Raoul clambered onto the rocky shore of the Phantom’s lair, his men not far behind. He immediatley began a search for the monster who took his Christine from him. They were nowhere to be found. Raoul barged into Erik’s room. On the bed was an envelope with HIS seal. Raoul ripped it open: Vicomte- I admire you for your bravery, but the Phantom has won again. Christine has chosen me and does not want to return to you. She is mine now, and if you value your life, you will not attempt to take her from me again. O.G. Raoul threw the note in the fire and yelled in anger. He began to demolish the room, throwing and smashing every object within his reach. Finally he sat on the bed and vowed loudly; “THIS IS NOT OVER!” PLEASE REVIEW!!! THAT’S ALL I ASK OF YOU!
