It’s dark and I feel cold. I have the same feeling as I did when I was at the shop, the feeling of being watched.
I slowly get off the table and a fine mist forms around the room. My body is not sore like before and I begin to wonder if it’s a good sign or a bad sign.
I hear a low growl and my heart begins to race. I hope, no I pray that it’s the Healer.
A low light now shines through the mist and as I turn a huge male comes into view. My heart feels frozen in terror. I have never seen anything so big.
His hulking form is covered in jet-black armor. His long gray, almost white dreadlocks are contrasted by black rings.
My eyes travel to his face. His eyes, although black seem to have a fire deep with in them and are set in a face not as harsh looking as my Master’s, but his features are just the same. His black cloak seems to float in a breeze that I can’t feel.
I swallow hard as he growls softly, softly though I feel it vibrate through my entire body. “They do not know what treasures you hold little one.”
I feel my self being pulled back from the huge male; he bows his head as he turns his body away from me. “It is not your time.”
I can hear a male growling. “Hold this firmly.”
I feel the cold table against my chest and stomach. I try to open my eyes, it’s hard but I finally succeed. “No Lay’geen, hold the edges together like this.”
My eyes begin to focus on a young male. “Father she’s awake.”
I try to move but my body won’t respond. “You must try to be still little one. He almost succeeded in killing you this time.”
My body jerks as I feel a pulling sensation on my back. Too tired to scream, too tired to move or care I pass out once again.
My eyes feel so heavy and I fight to open them but I can’t. I feel the cold table underneath my side. I hear a loud clang and my body flinches. My heart begins to race within my chest and a tender hand rubs up and down my arm. “Tina come back to us, open your eyes.”
It sounds like Paul. All this was just a dream, just a bad painful dream, but dreams don’t hurt do they? And my body hurts.
I try to move my body but it protests. I can still feel the tender hand rubbing my arm. “Tina come on open your eyes for us.”
I open my eyes to see Sonny, I smile sleepily and he smiles back. Chris comes into view and my eyes begin to close again as he smiles at me. I try hard to open them again. I succeed and I find my Master lifting my leg up. He has no cloth covering him and he is erect.
I shake my head violently from side to side. I finally find my voice to scream no. I find the strength to kick out as I feel a cool cloth being placed across my forehead.
I feel my leg being lifted again and my heart races as I open my eyes. I try to pull my leg away and the Healer comes into view. I flinch from the sensation of him wiping me. I feel a sharp prick in my thigh. “Sleep little Ooman, when you sleep you heal.”
I turn my head back towards the young male. He squeezes liquid out of a cloth and places it across my forehead. I frown as my vision begins to fade. The last image I see is a crescent moon scar on his forehead.
I try to get up but I can’t, I hear voices but I don’t think they are talking to me. I hear a growl and it sounds like the Healer. “When you are finished here resume your search. Only the gods know where he could have hidden them; and my son as harsh as it may sound do not disturb the scene but get me a sample to analyze.”
I hear a grunt. “You talk as if they have already gone.”
I can hear the Healer grunt his reply. “You know your cousin as well as I, search your heart and your mind then tell me they are still alive.”

I shake my head as I turn the corner to the eating area. I see Re’san devouring a Naxa fruit and sigh as I sit myself down heavily in the chair next to him.
I am a male usually renowned for my patience but at this point in time my patience eludes me. Ceta’s ship is one of the fastest Yautja ships in existence yet it does not seem fast enough.
I turn to Re’san and he gently places his hand on my shoulder. “Sa’ilek my friend we should discuss the strategy for dealing with your son.”
I nod my head slowly. I know it has to be done but it is hard trying to think about a course of action that may result in your offsprings death.
I notice a puzzled look on Ceta’s face as he enters the eating area. “What is it my friend?”
He presses a button on his wrist computer and the holographic image of my mother ship came into view. “Cro’vin has stopped the ship and reversed its course. It has reduced our journey by a month.”
I look to my friends then to the image. “Why would he take that course of action?”
Glancing back to the image again I see the signature of another larger Yautja ship approaching. “Who could that be?”
Ceta smiled slyly. “I have reports that So’ghan’s ship is in that area.”
Re’san’s brows rise and he grunts. “The Elder raising my nephew, he is not fond of Oomans.”
Ceta threw his head back; his laugh deep and bellowing. “Neither are you Re’san but you both adhere to the codes strictly. If he sees the female he may just give her protection until we reach her.”
Re’san nods in agreement and he sighs deeply. “The way I see it my friends we have two options. I simply go in and dispatch him or Sa’ilek if you prefer…”

I see a faint light through my eyelids and hear a soft growl. It was the Healer, I had heard it often enough to know now. I feel him gently shake me and I shake my head in protest. I remember all too well waking up the last time, and who came in and what happened after. The gentle shaking turned more urgent. “Ooman you need to awaken, you have healed.”
I raise my hands to my face then shake my head no and again the shaking was urgent. “Ooman you were fully healed one week ago, if I keep you any longer……….”
My translator didn’t pick up what was said and I look at the Healer. “They will get suspicious.”
The Healer nods as the translator repeats the words in his language.
I try to lift my head only to find the room spinning. The Healer steadies me as he reaches for an injection. I frown as he injects the fluid in but at least the spinning has stopped. He helps me to a sitting position and I nod my head slowly. He finally helps me to a standing position but my legs give way, the only thing holding me up is his strong grip.
The Healer steadies me and I take a deep breath in. “I feel like the morning after the night before.”
The Healer grunts at my comment. “More like month before Ooman.”
My mouth falls open in surprise; it had been a month since what happened in that bedroom but I don’t feel at all hungry. The Healer gently pushes my mouth closed with his hand and begins to walk me around the room. I have never felt my muscles ache this badly before but I manage to stop my urge to scream.
An alarm sounds on a panel on the wall and the Healer sighs. He stops next to the table and I grab the side of it. I quietly stand watching the Healer working at a nearby bench. My eyes travel to his arm and I notice a tattoo, it was in the shape of a lightning bolt then I lower my eyes as he turns.
I quickly glance up and my eyes widen. “Where’s that going?”
The Healer begins to approach me with the largest needle I have ever seen. Its huge barbed points making it look more like a weapon than a medical device.
I slowly edge my way around the opposite side of the table and the door slides open. The Healer moves to my left to reveal two males dragging a male with half a leg missing. The uneven cut bleeding badly, if the Healer didn’t do something soon the male wouldn’t be much good to anyone.
The Healer still looks at me needle in hand. The sight of the blood doesn’t worry me but that needle does. The two males drop the injured male to the floor in a not too gentle fashion. Then to my relief the Healer approaches him with the huge needle instead.
I wearily keep an eye on the two new males and edge my way into the corner as far as I can get. I hear one of the males grunt in my direction.
The Healer pushes the needle into the stomach of the injured male. Even with my ears covered his roar is deafening. His roaring quiets as he losses consciousness.
From my position in the corner I watch in amazement as the Healer works. He reaches for a bowl and some vials of liquid. As he begins to mix the liquid I notice a blue glow in the bowl. He reaches for a tool that looks a lot like a spatula and begins to place the substance on the male’s leg. I cover my mouth as the smell of burning flesh makes me gag. I know nothing could come out, I hadn’t eaten since my arrival. Could the Healer be giving me something while I’m unconscious?
I glance up quickly and see one of the males approaching me. I hear the Healer growl angrily and he stops. Instead he bows to me and together with the other male picks the injured one off the ground and they make their way out the door.
The Healer cocks his head to the side as he watches me cowering in the corner. He shakes is head then sighs as he brings his hand forward for me to grab. I shudder even though so far all he has done is help me.
He begins to walk me to the door and as it opens I see my Master standing in the distance in the corridor. The Healer places his hand on my shoulder as he notices who is standing watching us. We stop in front of a small door; it opens and as the Healer pulls me through the lights flicker on.
I find myself in a small room and I begin to shake in fear as the Healer takes the sheet away from my body. He shakes his head at my reaction, the tone of his voice calm and reassuring. “Understandable my child, you have not had a very good introduction to our species have you.”
My shaking increases as he slowly pulls a shirt down over my head he then ties a long piece of material around my waist. I watch the fabric fall over my feet and quickly look to the Healer bowing my head in thanks; he bows his head in return.
I jump as I hear a loud thumping at the door. The Healer places his hands over my ears as he roars angrily. The door opens and my Master is standing there, his arms folded in front of him. He extends an arm out and grabs me by the neck pulling me towards him. I quickly glance to the Healer and see him shaking his head.
He growls angrily at the Healer. “She is none of your concern Uncle.”
My Master drags me down the corridor; we finally stop at a door. It slides open to reveal what looks like a kitchen. I look up to see Chris, Sonny and some other male creatures cutting food.
The males grunt at me as my Master pushes me inside. I shake with fear as I now feel his breath on the top of my head.
