Chapter 5 – Endings...
A week had passed since
Mia and Dom had gotten Brian's letters. Seven warm summer days and
yet Mia didn't feel like enjoying the weather. She was deeply worried
about her brother, because since Brian's departure he had been acting
strange and reclusive. He rarely talked to the team or her any
more. ' All he does now is work on the Supra.'
The low rumbling of
thunder could be heard and Mia looked up to see storm clouds
approaching. She looked back at the front door as she heard loud
voices coming her way.
“ Letty, I don't feel like it
at the moment.”
Dom stormed out of the
front door with Letty hot on his heels. Both of them looked really
pissed and Mia thought that it would be only a matter of seconds
until Letty would slap him. Mia had no idea
what they were arguing about, just that they had been doing it a lot
lately. Actually ever since Brian left.
“ You can't treat me like
this.” Letty said grabbing Dom's arm and spinning him around.
Rubbing herself against his body she adopted a seductive purr. “
Ah, come on, babe. How 'bout I give you massage. You could do with
the relaxation.”
Prying his girlfriend
off his arm, Dom answered her, “ What part of 'no' didn't you
get?” Turning around he continued the way to his car.
“ Don't you dare leave. I'M
YOUR FUCKING GIRLFRIEND!”
“Watch me.”
“WHERE DO YOU THINK YOU'RE
GOING? OFF TO FUCK SOME GODDAMNED SKANK?”
The only answer she got
was the slamming of the car door as Dom got in. He pulled out of the
drive-way and left the fuming Letty behind. Completely ignoring Mia
she stormed back into the house and returned with her car keys about
two minutes later. The hot-tempered brunette got in her car and went
after Dom.
'Great. Everybody's
left. And I get to do all the house work. Again!'

Mia sat at the small
fountain in front of the mall. Having completed all her grocery
shopping she had figured that an ice cream
would cool her down nicely and maybe even provide her with the calm
to figure out what was wrong with her brother.
Swirling her tongue
around the ice cream cone she tried to
pinpoint the time Dom's strange behaviour had started. They never had
argued much before Brian had joined the team and most of their
disagreements had been minorities then. But now it was something
bigger, that was weighing on her brother's chest and she wished that
Dom would just confide in her.
'As if he'd ever admit
that something's wrong. Have to figure that out myself.'
Mia thought that the
arguments had started the day Brian had shown up at the garage. She
still remembered that one, because it had been the first in a very
long stretch of time. At first it were just small disagreements, but
ever since Brian left and Dom spend most of his time working on the
Supra they had gotten really bad.
The Supra was another
thing Mia wondered about, because Dom was building it alone and the
rest of the team was never allowed to help him.' As if it's some kind
of personal quest.'
And then it clicked.
Mia just wanted to smack herself up the head. Brian. Brian was the
problem!
' Oh, my. Dom's in love
with him.'

Seven days. Seven fucking days of never ending boredom, that had
slowly tickled by. Seven days since he got suspended.
Seven days of waiting for the inevitable. But tonight the waiting
would end.
Brian sat moodily in the back of the police car, that had fetched
him from home. He had been told, that the internal investigation was
complete and his fate had been decided. The blond was sure that it
wouldn't be pleasant news as Tanner wanted to speak to him
personally. He looked out of the car window, but didn't pay much
attention to the outside world as they drove past. The family with
three children loading heavy shopping bags into their car, the
homeless man on the corner, the young woman sitting at the fountain,
Brian saw them all but his mind didn't process the information. His
thoughts had strayed back to the past, trying to determine where he
had gone wrong.
“We are there.”
The officer jolted Brian out of his thoughts and ushered him into
the building. They made their way along the endless corridors in a
swift pace. The officer leading and pulling Brian along behind
himself. Wondering when they would finally be there, Brian was almost
relieved as they entered an old interrogation
room and he was left alone.
After a few minutes the door opened and Tanner joined Brian at the
table. The following silence was a tense and uncomfortable one, so
the blond decided to acknowledge his boss'
presence.
“Sargent.”
“O' Connor. It might interest you to learn what has been
concluded during the investigation. There won't be any charges
brought against you, but your future on the force will be determined
by the choices you make today. We can offer you a deal Brian. If you
don't accept, you are out of the job.”
“And if I do?”
“You'll probably do traffic patrol the rest of your life or
it's also possible that you will be sent to the evidence archive.
Your career is ruined anyway Brian. But if you remember your real
family, you have the chance to stay on the force.”
“What is it that you want from me?”

“BRIAAAN”
Dom didn't even realize his mistake until he felt the stinging
slap on his face. 'Oh shit. I'm in deep trouble.'
After his argument with Letty he had gone to the garage to work on
the Supra, but she had followed him. She had been screaming and
cursing at him the minute she got there. Dom had tried to block it
out at first, but her annoying voice broke through his defences again
and again. Finally in a desperate attempt to shut Letty up, he had
kissed her, resulting in her dragging him to the car and driving back
home. He barely registered that Mia wasn't home as Letty dragged him
back up the stairs. Throwing him on the bed she had started furiously
devouring him.
Lost in the moment, with his eyes closed, he had imagined being
buried in Brian's tight heat, while in
reality pounding into Letty's wet one. And as his climax numbed his
brain he had slipped.
Dom landed with his ass on the floor as Letty shoved him off and
started screaming at him.
“ YOU FUCKING ASSHOLE. HOW CAN YOU DARE DO THIS TO ME? YOU
BEEN FUCKING HIM FOR LONG? WAS HE WORTH IT? FUCKING THE COP FAG.
DIDN'T KNOW YOU WERE A FAGGOT.”
Dom tried to grab Letty to calm her down, but all he got was
another slap, that had his ears ringing, before she started screaming
again.
“GET OFF ME YOU BASTARD.”
By now tears had started to pool in Letty's eyes and threatened to
spill. For all the long time Dom knew her he had never seen her cry
and it made him feel downright horrible. With a teary voice she asked
him:” Don't you love me at all?”
“I do love you it's just...”, he trailed off. “And
I never cheated on you. There was nothing between Brian and me.”
But the words sounded hollow even to his own ears, although they were
true.
“Oh, so you just WANTED to fuck him. Well sure, THAT'S OK
THEN.”
Grabbing her clothes Letty stormed out of the room without even
bothering to dress. At the end of the stairs she quickly threw her
shirt over her head. Dom, having quickly dressed in some boxer
shorts, ran down the stairs after her.
“Wait, Letty. Please listen to me. I'll explain.”
Outside it was raining heavily, like the storm clouds had promised
in the afternoon. Letty didn't stop until she reached her car. Her
shirt was soaked, clinging to her body and outlining her firm
feminine body. Dom stopped right outside the front door as she
whirled around.
“I GIVE A FUCK 'BOUT YOUR EXPLAINING. YOU'LL BE SORRY.”
With these parting words she got in her car and drove away. Dom
didn't even bother to go after her. 'Everything falls apart.' He sunk
down on the front steps and let the rain soak him.

Mia had heard the whole argument from her room. She had already
been sleeping as Letty's screaming had awoken her. After waiting a
few minutes she came to the conclusion, that her brother wouldn't be
coming back inside and so she went downstairs to talk to him.
He was sitting out in the rain and looked downright miserable. Mia
had felt bad for Letty, but her brother had always been her main
concern and she knew that the other women's words had hurt Dom. So
she mustered all her courage and started to talk.
“You' re in love with him.”
At first she thought he would simply ignore her, but after a short
while his answer came in a short, snappish way.
“Don't know what you're talking 'bout.”
“Stop bullshitting me, Dom. You know damn well who I talk
about. I heard your argument with Letty. It was 'bout Brian, huh?”
“Yeah. Doesn't matter Mia. He never loved me anyway.
He loved you and I thought you loved him back?”
“ True. He loved me, but he wasn't in love with me. As I
wasn't in love with him. You should go talk to him.”
“Mia, he has left.”
“No, he hasn't.”
“What? How?”
“I saw him when I was shopping today. He drove by in a
police car. Or rather sat in the back. You should go talk to him.”
“And what am I supposed to tell him? “
“The truth. You owe it to him. He came clean to you and you
gotta do the same.”

'How fitting. My life goes down the drain and it's raining. Nice.'
Brian was sitting on his couch. A little over a month since he had
gone under and he had lost everything he cared about. His job, Dom,
Mia, his friends, he even couldn't race any more
because he didn't have a car.
'This time I really hit bottom.'
The choice Tanner had offered him had been more of a farce than
all his undercover work. They knew that he would never give them
Toretto, so that was precisely what they had demanded. But it didn't
matter any more.
Brian had already almost emptied a bottle of whiskey and was
wallowing in self-pity. They had taken away
his badge and his gun. 'But I won't need them anyway.'
On the table in front of him lay an old revolver.
