Chapter Five: Before Melora’s Discovery
Captain Jack Sparrow was in Tortuga
when Athena’s Jewel docked in the harbor. Captain Chasity Sinclair had come to Tortuga to look for a man to
join her on her ship, whether they were willing or not.
**
Jack was not having a nice night. All of the strumpets had slapped him. So, he
went to the Tavern of the Faithful Bride to drink rum.
**
So far, Chasity had not found anyone suitable for her purposes, so she went to
the Tavern of the Faithful Bride to get a k, ak, and ponder her next course of
action.
**
Inside the tavern, Jack was already more than a few sheets to the wind, and was
regaling a group of young sailors of the treasure of the Isla
de Muerta.
**
Chasity knew she’d find another man. But, she was beginning to doubt she’d find
one here. Chasity had waist length mahogany hair and sky blue eyes. Like most
female pirates, she wore men’s clothes, since it was easier to move around in
than dresses. In a rare act of femininity, she had her hair pulled back in a
tight bun. Usually, she wore it down, or in a ponytail, but never in a bun. It
was too much like a proper lady, she said whenever asked.
Chasity knew all about being a proper lady. The St. Claires
of Surrey were well known, as they were
extremely wealthy. (Their servants had servants, etc.) When Chasity St. Claire
grew up, she decided to leave that life behind and become a pirate. She wanted
to be the most feared pirate in the Spanish Main,
and she wasn’t going to let anything or anyone stop her. So, she changed her
surname to Sinclair, found a ship she named Athena’s Jewel, found an all female
crew, and became a pirate.
**
When Chasity walked into the Tavern of the Faithful Bride, Jack had found himself
a table, and was quietly drinking his rum. He saw Chasity come in, but thought
nothing of it, knowing very little about the captain of Athena’s Jewel. There
was very little known about her and her crew. Rumor had it that she was related
to the St. Claires of Surrey.
Jack doubted that, but no one seemed to know anything else about her. She never
left any survivors when she raided other ships, and kept to herself when she
docked in the harbors of various cities. Jack put the thought of Chasity
Sinclair out of his mind, and went back to drinking.
**
As Chasity scanned the tavern, looking
for a place to sit, she noticed Captain Jack Sparrow. Having an unlucky
night with the ladies, no doubt, she
thought with a smirk, seeing that Jack was seated alone. He probably
deserves it. Captain Jack Sparrow of the Black Pearl thinks he’s God’s gift to
women, she continued, still searching
for a seat, and some people would agree. Not me, though. I’ve seen better
and I’ve also seen a lot worse. Sparrow’s not the most attractive fish in the
sea, but he’s certainly not the worst, either.
Finally, she found a table at the
opposite end of the bar from Jack.
**
After Chasity decided she’d had enough to drink, she left the tavern, and
continued her search for a male. She was about ready to give up her search,
when she saw Jack meandering over to the general direction of his ship.
Yes, he’s by no means the worst looking pirate ever, a voice in Chasity’s head thought, watching
Jack trying to locate the Pearl.
Suddenly, an idea formed in Captain Sinclair’s mind. She was going to get a
man, after all. Chasity quickly boarded Athena’s Jewel, and called her first
mate over.
“Elisabeth, I want you to get me the two strongest members of the crew. I’m not
entirely sure my guest will come willingly,” she said.
“Aye, Captain. Abigail, Francisca, come ‘ere,” hollered Elisabeth.
Two tall and lean (also very strong) women came as commanded.
“Aye, Captain?” they asked.
“Abby, Frankie, I want you to accompany me while I collect our visitor. I’m not
completely sure Mr. Sparrow will come willingly or not,” Chasity said.
“Aye, Captain,” they replied.
**
While Jack was trying to remember where his ship was, Chasity, Abigail, and
Francisca were walking toward Jack as calm as can be. When Jack saw Chasity and
two of her crew nearing him, he remembered another rumor he had heard about
her.
It was rumored that she took men on her ship, sometimes willing, sometimes not,
and tortured them until they became insane. What exactly she did no one was
sure of, but there was a variety of cuts, burns, bruises, etc. on the bodies of
her alleged victims. There was no use talking to any of them, since they
babbled unintelligibly like small children when spoken to.
“Jack,” she called, knocking Jack out of his thoughts.
“Captain Jack, luv,” he corrected.
“I’m sorry. Captain Jack, would you like to join my crew?” Chasity asked.
“Thanks, but I’ve got me own crew. Speakin’ of which,
I’ve seemed to have misplaced me Pearl,”
he said.
“I think I’ve seen it. Abigail and Francisca will help, and we’ll look for it
together,” replied Chasity.
Jack agreed, so Abigail and Francisca each grabbed Jack by the arms, and the
four of them boarded Athena’s Jewel.
This was easier than I thought, thought Chasity, as they boarded her ship.
**
“This ain’t the Pearl,”
Jack said, when he was on Athena’s Jewel.
“That’s right, Captain Sparrow. We’re on my ship, and if you do what I tell
you, maybe eventually, I’ll let you go,” Chasity replied, laughing at Jack’s
stupidity.

A/N: Well, that’s chapter five. Chapter
six will be more back story. And, before anyone asks, yes, Jack will somehow be
saved and/or escape, I won’t tell you now, because that will ruin it, but it
will happen, since this is before Melora found Jack
on the beach.
