A/N Thank you for all your positive words of encouragement. I’m having lots of fun writing this. Enjoy!

Chapter Three That evening the boys met in their crypt, two of them disgruntled that they had to leave a certain witch to study by herself. “What’s up?” Reid asked, wanting to get this meeting over with. “We are not going to have another long history lesson, are we?” Caleb glanced at Pogue. “Not really, but we do have some things to discuss.” “If it’s about Madi, things are going great,” Tyler stated. “I think she really likes us.” Caleb nodded. “Yeah, I’ve noticed.” He looked from Tyler to Reid. “You two don’t find it strange that you’ve practically forgotten anyone else exists when she’s around you?” Reid laughed. “We like being around her. Why’s that a problem? Have we been ignoring you two lately? Awwww… we’re sowry… itty bitty Caleb needs attention?” “Shut up, Reid,” Pogue snapped. “This is not a joke.” Caleb sighed. “What I’m trying to say is that she’s got you two in some sort of thrall. It’s her magic. I can see it, actually ‘see’ it. It’s different than what we have.” “Thrall? Is that a joke?” Reid laughed. “Even if she wasn’t a witch, I’d still want her. She’s fucking hot.” Tyler shook his head and let out a laugh of derision. “I know what this is about. Caleb is feeling guilty because he’s the one having thoughts about Madi, he’s the one in her thrall. Afraid you might act on it and ruin things with Sarah?” Caleb’s eyes flashed as he stood in anger, sending Tyler’s chair back until it hit the wall with a bang. Pogue immediately came to his side. “Caleb, stop. Calm down.” Caleb turned around, rubbing a hand over his eyes, putting his emotions back under control. He was angry at Tyler’s words, and even more angry at himself. Because Tyler was right. Tyler stood and moved his chair back to the circle with a flash of his eyes. “Feel better now, Caleb?” He wouldn’t attack Caleb. He knew he couldn’t win. Caleb was far too powerful. “I’m sorry, Ty,” Caleb said, sitting down again. “All right,” Caleb sighed, “let’s just stay away from accusations for now. The real reason I wanted to meet tonight is to discuss how we are going to let Madison know who she is and who we are. I was discussing this with Pogue earlier and I think we need to be cautious and not just dump a whole lot of things on her at once. We don’t want to scare her away.” “How about the books?” Pogue suggested. “She could read the history of Ipswich for herself, kind of the way Sarah figured it out. Then we can go from there.” Caleb nodded. “That would be a good start. Tyler and Reid, you two need to refrain from using in front of her, for now. And even when she does find out what we are, we start with the small stuff. Remember, we don’t want to frighten her off.” “And don’t mention the full moon sex stuff yet,” Pogue added. “If she thinks she was brought here for that reason, she’d probably leave for sure. You two understand that, right?” Tyler narrowed his eyes at Pogue. “Yeah, we got it.” Caleb and Pogue could tell that Reid and Tyler were very defensive regarding their relationship with Madison and it would further cause a rift between the Sons to press them with anymore warnings. OOOOO Madison opened one eye, the sun already bright through her window. Why was it so bright? Her eye traveled to the clock on the nightstand before she sat up in shock. Damn it! She had forgotten to set the alarm last night. It was already 8:15 in the morning. Class had started fifteen minutes ago! “Just great,” she scowled, hopping out of bed and grabbing her uniform. Her stomach growled for breakfast, but she would have no time for that. She dressed quickly and grabbed her books, stopping at the restroom quickly before going into her English Literature class. “You’re late, Miss Marish,” the teacher drone. “Sorry,” she muttered, ignoring the students watching her as she found a seat. “One more tardy and you have detention.” She finally calmed herself, trying to take notes as the teacher droned on and on. But it was hard to concentrate at the moment, her cell phone kept vibrating in her pocket. She wanted to take a look at it, but was afraid she’d get in further trouble this morning. She didn’t want her phone taken away for the day. She knew it was probably Tyler or Reid, wondering where she had been at breakfast. Flames outside the window caught her eye. Gasping, she stood at her seat. “Oh my God!” Madi exclaimed, seeing tall pillars of fire out on the commons. And there were people tied to them, burning. Madison back away from the window in horror, her hand over her mouth. When she bumped into a chair behind her, she looked about the room. Everyone was either looking at her, or trying to see what she was looking at out of the window. “Miss Marish, what is it?” the teacher asked, suddenly from behind her. Madi turned her head to the horrible sight, but it was no longer there. There was nothing there - only the commons in it’s regular appearance. Oh, God. She had forgotten to take her pills this morning. She was running late and she had completely forgotten. And now? Now she had freaked out in front of a whole class of people. “Miss Marish?” the teacher persisted. “I’m sorry,” Madi replied. “I thought I saw something.” “What?” “I thought I saw a fire, but I guess it was just a reflection. Sorry. May I be excused, please.” The teacher studied Madi’s flushed face while the rest of the class laughed at Madi’s mistake. “All right, Miss Marish. Please come in at lunch to discuss what you missed.” “Thank you,” Madison replied, practically running out of the room. She felt mortified at that moment. Everyone loved gossip at Spencer, and she knew her embarrassing moment would spread far and wide before the end of the day. Madison ran into the girls restroom and looked into the mirror, trying to calm her heart. A small window was next to the sink and she threw it open for fresh air. Standing and breathing for moments, she closed her eyes, feeling the breeze against her flushed skin. It was like a soothing caress. Elizabeth. Madison opened her eyes. Someone had whispered a name - Elizabeth. That was her middle name. She looked under the stalls and noticed no feet. There was no one else in the restroom. Closing her eyes again, she waited. Elizabeth. She opened her eyes and turned toward the window. It was like the wind was talking to her, calling to her. “I’m going crazy,” she muttered, pulling her book bag onto the sink and retrieving her pill bottles. She began opening them one by one, putting each tablet in her palm, when Kira Snider walked in. Madison froze a moment as Kira stopped in surprise, glanced from her pill bottles to the pills on her hand, and snorted. She continued on toward a stall. “Allergies,” Madison offered, lamely. “Whatever,” Kira snapped, slamming the stall door. Madison’s eyes watered. Could this morning get any worse? Big mouth Kira saw her with all her pills. Damn it all! Madison threw the handle full of pills in the trash and swept the bottles back into her bag, tears beginning to fall over her cheeks. Why did she have to be such a freak? Elizabeth. She stood straight up, looking out of the window once again. The beautiful forest beckoned to her, leaves falling and swirling in the wind. The breeze cooling her cheeks, soothing her. As Kira left the stall, Madison pushed past her to door. “Bitch,” Kira groused. But Madison left without looking back. As Kira washed her hands and reapplied her make-up, she glanced out the window to see Madison wandering over the grounds and heading off into the forest. “Stupid junkie.” OOOOO Elizabeth. Madison ran through the forest, following the sound of the wind, the sun making patterns on the ground through the leaves. And the wind, the gorgeous wind, played with her, danced with her. It whooshed by as if daring her to catch up. It was utterly enchanting. She held out her arms, and used fallen logs and rocks to spring off of as she ran. The forest gave her life, pulsing energy. And it loved her. She could feel it. It wanted her here. On she ran, arms aloft, like a bird soaring. She closed her eyes, not even thinking that she could trip, or run into a tree - she felt no fear. It was as if she belong right here in this perfect moment, her heart soaring with freedom. Again and again she sprang from rock to rock, trunk to trunk, and the energy, the power took control. Her eyes closed, she felt wrapped in a blanket of pure power as she took a bigger leap. But at some point she noticed that she had not landed yet. She opened her eyes and gasped. She was flying! As soon as she realized this, she flapped her arms and began struggling, her energy field pulling inwards. At that moment - she fell. It wasn’t far to the ground, only a few feet, yet she pushed up from the forest floor, looking about. What was that? Another vision? People don’t fly. Oh, God, she was losing it. She was going nuts. She sat catching her breath, feeling around for her bag on her back. Her pills, she had to take her pills. And, crap, she was lost too. What had she been thinking to run aimlessly through the forest like that? She must be mental. But she needed some water to take her pills and she hadn’t had time to put a few bottles in her bag this morning. She stood up on shaky legs and looked about. Hopefully she wouldn’t be too far from a road. Oh, God, she could be walking forever. She felt like the biggest idiot. She turned in all directions, trying to figure out which way seemed the most promising. Then she heard sounds. Piano music. Relief filled her as she began walking toward the sound. Someone had to be living nearby. In a few minutes, a house came into view. It was a very old Victorian home, badly in need of repairs. It was surprising that someone was actually living in it. The music grew louder in her ears. Madison peered down the dusty driveway. She couldn’t see the main road it led to as the driveway was very overgrown. She carefully make her way to the front of the house and up the stairs of the porch. It must have been a magnificent house at one time. As she reached the front door, it clicked open on it’s own, standing ajar. Madison waited for someone to open it further, but they never came. “Hello,” she called out. “Hello, is anyone home?” The music continued playing from inside. She pushed the door open further and looked, her eyes opening in pleasant surprise. It was very lovely inside, the complete opposite of the outside. She stepped into the entrance looking about. It was decorated in a sort of late 1800’s style, yet everything looked almost new. The piano music stopped and she heard footsteps approaching from an adjoining room. A woman appeared, wearing a long skirt and long-sleeve blouse, fastened at the neck with a cameo. Her hair was swept up into a bun on her head. “Elizabeth, darling, you’re home,” she smiled. Madison’s mouth fell open to speak, but she couldn’t think of what to say. This had to be another vision. Oh, God. The woman’s face turned worried. “Your looking a bit peaky. Why don’t you go upstairs and rest before dinner.” Madison should have turned and ran, but she didn’t. Her legs seemed to move automatically toward the ornate staircase as she still stared at the concerned woman. The woman stayed in the same spot, watching her as well. When she was at the top of the stairs, she noticed a door opening straight ahead of her. It was almost as if she had no choice anymore. She felt compelled to continue where ever this vision was taking her. Her feet moved toward the beckoning room. As she moved into the room, she noticed a bed lying in the center, not touching any of the walls. The white diaphanous curtains billowed out from the breeze outside the window. She climbed onto the bed because it felt as if she was meant to do so. Just then five figures in black cloaks stepped out of the walls all around her. And she screamed, she screamed until she lost consciousness. OOOOOO Sarah sat in front of her locker, her second period P.E. class having ended, tying her shoes. Kira Snider laughed from a few lockers down, but Sarah was use to ignoring her. Kira had always carried a big crush for Caleb and hated that Sarah had managed to snag him before she did. “Did you find your little junkie friend?” Kira asked. This got Sarah to stop ignoring her. “Who are you talking about?” “You know, that new girl.” “Madison? What’s your problem, Kira?” Kira slammed her locker and put a hand on her hip. “I’m not the one with the problem. I caught her popping a bunch of pills this morning and running off stoned into the woods.” Sarah shook her head. “You and your lies are pathetic.” Kira shrugged. “All right, don’t believe me then. Maybe the little bitch will do us all a favor and stay lost.” Kira started to leave but Sarah stood up. “Wait,” Sarah said, stopping Kira from leaving. “If this is true, then why didn’t you tell the administration?” “Why should I?” Sarah scowled at her. “You are an incredible bitch, Kira, you know that?” She hurried out of the locker room, heading toward the administration office. As she ran, she felt an arm reach out and stop her progress. “Hey, where are you going in such a hurry?” Caleb smiled, kissing her cheek. “I think Madison may be in trouble, unless Kira is playing one of her stupid pranks,” Sarah explained. Caleb’s smile fell. “Tell me what happened.” She explained everything Kira had said and then asked, “Do you really think she’s doing drugs?” Caleb shrugged. “I would have never guessed. But, Sarah, if we tell the admin on her and they find her high, they might kick her out of Spencer.” “Then what do we do? Caleb, if she wandering the woods stoned out of her mind, she could get lost or hurt.” “I’ll go look for her,” he decided. “How would you know where to start?” Sarah studied his face, and she nodded when she finally understood. He would use his powers. OOOOO Caleb Danvers knew Ipswich like the back of his hand. The woods were vast, however. Even still, there was the possibility she had used her magic unintentionally. That was something that could help in his search. He walked into the forest and listened for a bit, making sure he was alone. Then his eyes blackened as he scanned in all directions, looking for any sort of magical marker. Ah, yes, there was something. It was faint, but it was there. He began walking in the direction he felt it come from, all the while thinking of all the landmarks he knew in this county. He was heading west from the school. What was west of here? And then it struck him. Yes, of course. The old Marish house was west of Spencer. And when he thought of that place, his own magic confirmed his suspicion. He would find Madison there, he just knew it. Now that he had a destination in mind, he took off in that direction, flying for short periods of time to speed his travel along, until he finally reached the old Marish place. No one had lived here for as long as he could remember. It was always known as an old, haunted place - one of many in these parts. Him and his friends had tried to break in once to explore when they were kids, but they never could get past the big locks on the doors and windows. They didn’t have many powers back then. Caleb walked up to the front door, but it was shut tight as it had always been. If Madison was in here, she had probably found another way. He concentrated his power on the lock and it sprung open. The door squealed as he pushed it, having not been opened for many decades. It was dark and dusty inside, old moth eaten sheets covering the furnishings and cobwebs everywhere. He thought he might have been wrong about Madison being here for a moment, but he could feel her energy here, calling to his. It was coming from upstairs. He walked up the stairs, moving cobwebs out of the way, until he stood at the top. Yes, she was definitely in the room ahead. Warning signals went off inside of him. He shouldn’t be here alone with her. Her scent was already wafting out of the room to him, calling to him like a siren. But what if she needed help? Caleb put his hand over his mouth, pinching his nostrils as he went into the room, his eyes falling on Madison passed out on a bed. He hurried over, worried if she had a pulse. What if she overdosed or something? He reached out and placed his fingers on her throat, looking for a pulse, but as soon as he made contact with her skin he had to pull away. Energy, power, a drunken sort of wave passed through his body, hardening him instantly. “Fuck,” he hissed, backing away from her, his eyes blackening as his power longed to connect with hers. It was almost too overwhelming to fight. His body was demanding that he fuck her, taste her, drown in her, and he shook with the effort it took to back further away. He made it to the window and used his power to open it quickly. Sticking his head out, he gasped for breath, trying to breath something other than essence of Madison. He looked to the forest and willed a strong breeze to come toward him. The wind flooded the room with air and leaves, rousing Madison to consciousness again. She felt the leaves hitting her face and opened her eyes. The room was different than she remembered, and the cloaked figures were gone. But someone else was here. “Caleb?” she said, surprised. “How did you find me?” Caleb willed his energy to retreat. The wind died down and he turned his head toward her from the window. “Hey, you all right?” She nodded. Caleb stood straight, but didn’t move away from the window. “Kira told Sarah she saw you walk off,” he explained. “I thought maybe you might have wanted to see the house of your ancestors.” Madison’s eyes opened wide. “This is Marish House?” Caleb nodded. “You didn’t know?” “No. I was lost and just found this place.” She looked at him and then remember that he mentioned Kira. “I suppose Kira said more than just that.” Caleb nodded. “Would you believe me if I told you it was allergy medications?” “Were they?” There was something about Caleb Danvers that Madison trusted. She barely knew him, yet, all her senses told her that he was someone who could hold a secret, and hold it well. She shook her head. “I take medications, but not for allergies.” Caleb spotted an old chair in the corner of the room, even farther from Madison than the window. He could do this, he told himself, he could maintain control. He walked to the chair and sat. “O.K. Are you ill?” “No,” she replied, looking at him carefully. How much could she tell him? “I have bad dreams at night and have a hard time sleeping.” Caleb nodded. “All right, is that what you took this morning? Sleeping pills? Because that’s probably not good thing to do when you’ve got class.” “No, I take other ones during the day.” “To fight the side effects of the night time pills?” “Not really,” she shook her head. She sighed. Here it goes. “Do you believe that some people can see, well… ghosts?” “Yeah, I’ve heard of it.” He studied her face. She was embarrassed of her abilities. Or worried that he’d judge her for them. “So, you’re a psychic?” She nodded. “And if I forget to take my daytime pills, I see the dead and sometimes even how they died. Pretty freaky, hey?” “No, not freaky. It’s a special ability you have. You can see things others can’t. That’s actually pretty awesome.” “Yeah, not when I can’t control it on my own. And not when I have to see some pretty horrible ways people have died.” Caleb nodded. “I get you now. Thanks for telling me. And I won’t tell anyone else. I’ll leave that up to you if you ever want to. But, you know, you shouldn‘t give up on trying to find a way to control it, bend it to your own will. There must be other psychics out there who have learned how to do so. I‘m pretty decent at research. I‘ll see what I can find out.” “So,” she smiled, “you don’t happen to have a bottle of water with you, do you? I don’t trust the plumbing in this place.” He shook his head. “I’ll call Sarah to come pick us up and tell her to bring one. Let’s go.” Caleb hurried out of the room and down the stairs, needing the fresh air outside to cool his lust. He felt rude running ahead of her like that, but it was better than tossing her back on that bed and taking her over and over again. He called Sarah as he stood outside on the driveway and Madison came up beside him. She was staring off wistfully toward the woods while she waited for him to finish the call. When he was done, she turned to face the house again. “This is really the Marish house?” “Yeah,” Caleb replied. “If you are interested in your family history, I have some books you can read. My family goes way back as well.” “Really?” Madison smiled. Caleb had to turn his face away when she smiled at him. He pretended to be looking for cars coming up the driveway. “Yeah, would you like to know more about Ipswich and the old families?” “Yeah, that would be interesting,” she replied. “I’d love to see your books.” OOOOOO A/N Poor Caleb, lol, can he be good? We’ll see. Yes, this story will feature all the boys at one point or another. If you can’t choose one pairing, why not have all? He He He Anyway, hope you are enjoying this.
