Chapter 2 – Pursuit
Oria woke first cracking one eye open for some reason she wasn’t yet aware of. Jack was still snoring quietly his arms still wrapped about her tightly, she gently extricated herself from the grasp and gazed down at him for a second. He cracked one eye open as well, she smirked down at him, “Morning.”
“Something wrong?” She frowned down at him, “You leapt up like were stung.” He explained at her puzzled expression.
“No, well yes, I mean I’m not sure. Just a gut instinct that something’s not quite right.” She glanced about the cabin warily but everything was still where it had been deposited last night. Scrambling over Jack she began to drag her clothes back on and tossed Jack’s onto the bed. He glared down at them.
“You know I was rather hoping we could actually just lie here. For a few seconds at least rather than charging back into action.” He watched as she pulled her hair free of the shirt and buckled the belt about her hips. He smirked as the belt slipped down to rest at her ankles, she stood staring at it for a few seconds, “Well as fetching as it looked love it might be better if you put your own belt on.” She glared at him and tossed the belt onto the bed.
“Shouldn’t you be getting up, after all you are the Captain of this vessel are you not?” Jack stretched and placed his hands behind his head lazily.
“Thinking of relinquishing the title for the day, see I’m rather interested in what other activities that desk is useful for.” Oria glared at him and buckled her own belt around her hips before stalking over to the bed and the grinning pirate with the full intention of dragging him up on deck in his starkers if necessary. He sat up suddenly and grasped her wrist before she had chance to respond. He dragged her back down into the warmth of the bed and covered them both with the blanket. She wriggled against his grasp but he merely tightened it and ran hot lips down the back of her neck. Oria glared at him over her shoulder as he tugged down the shirt covering her shoulder exposing more flesh to his wandering lips.
A loud knocking came at the door and shouts for Captain echoed through the wood. Jack glared through the blanket towards the door, “Bugger, why does that always happen. Do you think we’ve got a psychic on board? If we have he’s going to suffer one hell of a death at me hands for this.” He pushed the blanket off and wrapped it about his hips before heading for the door with a face of thunder. He slammed it open and glared out at Gibbs, “What is it now Mr. Gibbs, come on man we haven’t got all day.” Gibbs snapped his eyes up from the blanket wrapped about Jack’s hips. Jack stood there bold as brass with a raised eyebrow at the spluttering man, “Coherence Mr Gibbs is a highly sort after virtue, please learn it within the next few seconds or leave and come back once you are in possession of said skill.” Jack began to close the door but Gibbs slammed a hand into it stopping it from shutting.
“Wait, Captain there’s been news of a HMS patrol sailing these waters. They’re looking for us. What do you want to do?” Jack sighed realising he was not going to be able to pass this on to someone else. Oria stepped up behind him and pushed him gently towards his clothes. He went without question and she strode up top after Gibbs to survey the situation, in the distance a ship was sailing away, obviously it had passed on the news.
“Miss Oria.” Gibbs called from the helm and she turned and jogged up the steps, he was holding out a piece of parchment. She took it from him and glanced down at it, the parchment was slightly stained and worn but the message was still clear. It was a poster for their capture, offering a handsome payment for either or both of them. Oria glanced up at Gibbs.
“How many know of this?” Gibbs nodded towards the rest of the crew, they were looking up suspiciously.
“They know something’s going on but I thought it prudent not to share this particular piece of information with them. They know you’re wanted, they just don’t know about the reward.” Oria nodded approvingly, that amount of money could turn any man’s head to mutiny. Jack appeared stalking about majestically and stepped up behind her gazing over her shoulder at the parchment. His eyes widened slightly at the number of noughts on the page.
“That’s a lot of money.” Oria smirked at the glint in his eyes.
”It’s nothing compared to the Isle de Muerta. So save any plans you have for after that.” He grinned at her and took the parchment from her hand. Folding it carefully he tucked it into a pocket.
“You know me too well love.” He brushed past her and took a grip of the helm snapping his compass out and checking they were still on course. Oria leaned over his shoulder as the compass followed her progress and whispered into his ear.
”Focus Jack or you’ll be having us going in circles.” There was a twinkle in her eye and he smirked wrapping an arm about her waist and crushing her to his side.
“It’ll be your fault if we do. Gibbs was right, we shouldn’t have a woman aboard… far too distracting.” His gaze ran down her lustily, she shivered slightly and stepped away from him swiftly, his smirk deepened.
“Just focus on the job at hand. If you’re lucky perhaps there will be a repeat of last night.” Jack grabbed her wrist again and pulled her flush against his front. His free hand travelled down her back and pushed her hips into his forcefully. The bulge in his pants pressing against her belly.
“Is that a promise?” He whispered huskily with a grin. She rolled her hips discreetly as he fought to keep control of himself in front of the crew.
“Only if you want it to be.” He leaned forwards and captured those oh so tempting lips in a temporary loss of control. She pulled away gently, her body rebelling against her mind, Oria turned away and jogged down the steps, Jack’s eyes burning into her back. Gibbs stepped up behind him with a disapproving glare.
“You shouldn’t have done that Captain. You’ll be giving the crew ideas.” Jack didn’t even glance at him, his gaze resting where Oria had disappeared below deck. Gibbs elbowed him and Jack jumped slightly.
”What! Get back to your post and get this ship giving me everything she’s got.” Gibbs nodded and hurried down to the deck to chide the crew into action.
