The corridors below the ship, where the eta quarters were
located were small and drab. Living in the bottom of the ship you could hear
every creek there was. Lo’kesh was used to it. Without hearing the pipes
whistles or creaking noises he may never had gotten to sleep. The sudden
quietness when he was above is what made his skin crawl. As much as they
cleaned the rest of the ship no one ever bothered to clean the bottom of the
ship, making it look as dark and awful as it smelled. When Lo’kesh made it to
one of the food preparation areas he noticed Ne’el and a group of people behind
him. He immediately looked away when Su’tara’s eyes made contact with his.
Ne’el turned and looked at her when her pulse started to
beat a little faster. “Are you alright Su’tara?” Ne’el purred as he looked at
his niece.
“I’m fine Uncle,” she spoke softly. Sh’lok was busy going
over the information on his tablet to notice Su’tara’s change. Kayla gasped at
how much larger everything was on this ship. Su’tara and Ta’noj wanted to go
with their parents, Ne’el, and his mate to see everything on the ship.
“Don’t you think Shra’van spends too much time with your
uncle?” Ta’noj questioned softly. “He had not spent any time with us since we
arrived here.”
Su’tara turned to her little brother. He was closer to her
than he was to Shra’van. Ta’noj tried bonding with his brother once but they
never really got along. He stuck close to Su’tara and Ra’tul. “Don’t worry
about him,” Su’tara said playfully. “I will protect you.” She playfully pushed
him and in return Ta’noj growled at her.
“I don’t need the protection of a female,” he growled
pushing her back. Sh’lok growled loud enough for them to both stop playing.
Ta’noj still managed to punch his sister one last time.
Lo’kesh pretended to busy himself as he watched her
interact with her brother. In his eyes she was loving,
the way she playfully pushed him, but not enough to hurt him. He noticed how she
looked at her brother with concern when he spoke to her. He quickly looked
away.
“Ne’el, how is Lee’na?” Kayla questioned. Ne’el’s mate
turned and looked at her and Ne’el let out a low annoyed growl.
“She is no longer my mate,” he responded in a low tone as
he thought back to that horrible day. “I took on a second mate and she in turn
tried to kill her. Lee’na is now working in the laundry area as an eta.”
Kayla didn’t say anything, but she looked over to see
Sh’lok and Su’tara look at each other.
“Ne’el I will need the eta list,” Sh’lok said looking over
his tablet. “Never mind, it is right here. Elders codes?”
“I will have them for you by the end of the day,” Ne’el
nodded as they continued to walk.
“Uncle, I wish to see the eta’s living area,” Su’tara
blurted.
“I don’t think that is wise Su’tara,” he walked over to
her. Ne’el wrapped his arm around her shoulder as they proceeded to walk. “It
is not well suited for such a young female Yautja.”
Kayla watched how he treated Su’tara. She marveled at his
interaction with Su’tara. He was tentative and when she talked he looked down
at her. When Kayla talked he growled. “So you will be leaving soon Uncle?”
Su’tara questioned softly. “There is so much I wish to know about you.”
“We will still be in contact Su’tara,” he chuckled. “We
will all have an evening meal together in a few weeks then I will be leaving.”
They walked into one of the greenrooms.
Ta’noj tried not to show his excitement as he looked at
all the tall trees. Ne’el remembered something that Ga’gan told him in secrecy
and looked over at Kayla. He could see the slight sadness on her face as she
touched one of the trees.
Kayla tried to smile as she remembered her first time
eating seba. The room was identical. After so many years she couldn’t believe
she still thought of Ga’gan. Sometimes, for her, being with Ga’gan felt like
yesterday. “There is a few more places I would like
you all to see,” Ne’el said walking out.
“Su’tara no,” Kayla
snapped before she bit into one of the rips seba’s
she picked off a tree. Su’tara jumped and looked at her mother who stormed over
to her and slapped the fruit out of her hand.
“It’s just seba,” Ne’el’s mate chuckled. “It will have
little effect on her.”
“She’s half ooman and it may have a big effect on her like
it does me,” Kayla snapped. She turned to look at Su’tara. “Please, never eat
that. At least wait until you’re mated.” Kayla paused. “Or when you’re ready,
oh please tell me you’re not ready…”
“What type of effect does it have on you Mother?” Su’tara
asked in concern. Ne’el and Sh’lok looked at each other before laughing. Kayla looked at them and sighed before
turning back to the worried look on her daughters face. Ta’noj stepped closer.
He was curious about his mother’s sudden reaction to the fruit.
Ta’noj started to look worried. “Should I be worried too?”
“It has no effects on males,” Kayla quickly looked over to
Ne’el and Sh’lok for help. “Maybe I should take her to see Pahel.”
“Mom,” Su’tara whined in English. “Does this fruit have
anything to do with mating?” Ne’el didn’t understand Su’tara’s question, but
whatever it was the color drained from Kayla’s face. Her situation caused him
to trill and laugh at the same time. She was still extremely over protective of
Su’tara.
“Let us go,” Sh’lok chuckled as he picked the fruit up. He
looked at it then Kayla. “I will hold onto it, for later.”
“Never,” Kayla sighed. Su’tara stood there completely
confused. “I will explain everything tonight,” Kayla rubbed her back softly
before following Ne’el out the room.
Lo’kesh walked quickly to the quarters of the female that
did most of the schedules. When the doors to her quarters opened she looked up
at him. She was sitting in front of a pile of tablets. “Lo’kesh,” she purred as
she stared at him.
“Cree,” he walked closer to her. He could smell her strong
scent already. Every time she was around him her sent would get stronger. “Can
you please change my schedule? I wish to do maintenance on the upper decks.”
Cree laughed in disbelief. “You mean the elder and
arbitrator deck? No I can not allow that. You are more valuable to me here.”
Lo’kesh walked closer to her, emitting his scent and
purring softly. He knew females liked it, but he would never mate with anyone.
He would usually tell them he had a potential mate. If anyone knew that he just
wanted to save that moment for someone special he will be ridiculed by other eta’s. “Please Cree. I wish to advance myself and maybe
become a guard someday.”
She stood as she looked over his body. He was a young male
in her eyes. She figured him to be at least sixty. His body was muscular,
unlike most eta males. She touched his chest softly and he growled at her. “You
do have the body for it.” Cree squeezed on his shoulders before roaming her
hands on his chest. She purred in delight. “We will have to get you better
clothes.” She stood closer, pressing her breast against his chest and sniffing
his neck. “When I am in heat again will you mate with me?”
“I have a potential, you know that,” he felt on her face
lightly. “If I did not, I would have taken you by now.” Cree looked
disappointed as she stepped away. Lo’kesh grabbed her waist and pulled her body
close to his. “Let me know when you are in heat. I would seriously enjoy,
preparing you and who knows, maybe my potential will not work out.”
“Ok,” Cree nodded. “Write down the schedule you wish and
you can get started tomorrow.”
“Thank you Cree,” he growled in her ear. He held her lower
back as he pressed his body against hers, pinning her between him and the
table. She groaned softly as he bent her backwards and reached for one of the
tablets. Looking over it he also noticed that Ne’el was having a party in a few
weeks. He placed his name on that work list as well.
“What’s wrong with Mother?” Ta’noj questioned as she held Su’tara’s
hand and went in another direction. Sh’lok chuckled at her over protectiveness.
“She’s going to Pahel to make sure Su’tara is ok,” he
sighed as him and his son walked to their quarters. “Seba enhances your mothers
will to mate. It makes her susceptible to any male’s sexual advances and it
lasts for hours. She wants to make sure it does not have the same effects on
Su’tara.”
“That’s all?” Ta’noj trilled softly.
Kayla pushed on Pahel’s com repeatedly. He answered the
door with an annoyed growl. “Kayla I have one day off,” he growled at her. “I
told you before to only wake me if there’s an emergency.”
“It’s an emergency,” Kayla walked in with Su’tara behind
her. “It’s Su’tara.”
“Hello Pahel,” Su’tara sighed as she crossed her arms.
“I do not see a trail of blood,” Pahel said angrily as he
looked down then back at Kayla. “No blood, no emergency!”
“She almost ate a piece of seba,” Kayla almost yelled. She
walked closer to Pahel. “Is she at that age? Is it time for her to breed?”
“Mom I was hungry,” Su’tara growled in annoyance. “I
picked up a piece of fruit.” She looked over at Pahel and sighed.
“Kayla, you bring Su’tara to me every month for a checkup,
against my wishes,” he growled in annoyance as he went to a wall that held a
few of his medical supplies. “What do you want me to do?”
“Make sure seba do not have the same effect on her as it
does me.”
“If I do this you have to promise me you will stop
bringing her in every month,” He pulled out several tubes to collect a sample
of Su’tara’s blood.
“Ok every other month…”
“How about once a year,” Su’tara suggested. They all sat
down and looked at Kayla for an answer.
“Fine,” she mumbled. Pahel trilled with delight.
“As far as your question earlier, yes at her age her body
will start to react to males. She can breed when she’s ready and she should be
able to pick up on their scent.”
They walked back slowly to their quarters as Kayla
explained to her about what happened whenever she ate seba. “So my biological
father gave you seba each time you had it?” She turned to look at her mother.
Kayla thought for a moment and shook her head yes. “That seems quite
manipulative, don’t you agree?”
“Well he didn’t know the effect it would have on ooman’s,”
Kayla tried to defend Ga’gan as they continued to walk.
“But he knew the second and third time,” Su’tara snapped.
“Do not speak harshly about your father,” Kayla said
softly.
“My fathers name is Sh’lok,” Su’tara mumbled loud enough
for her to hear. When they walked into their quarters Sh’lok was sitting at the
table. He looked up in time to see Su’tara storm past him. He then turned his
attentions to his weary looking mate.
“What’s wrong with her?” Sh’lok stood up and walked
towards Kayla. She looked tired and upset. Kayla looked up into his concerned
eyes. Without asking another question, he lifted her up and carried her to bed.
Lo’kesh went to duty early. He knew his fascination with
Su’tara could get him killed, but he didn’t want to miss the opportunity to
steel a glimpse into her eyes. That’s all Lo’kesh wanted. He wanted to see into
her eyes. He didn’t get any sleep last night as he thought about working the
next day. For the first time he was looking forward to performing his tasks.
The guards at the end of the hall watched him clean areas that showed no traces
of dirt. Lo’kesh pulse started to race as the doors opened. He tilted his head
up slightly to see Kayla and Sh’lok speaking in a language he didn’t
understand. He was still fascinated by an ooman being leader on a Yautja ship.
They walked away, never noticing him. No one ever noticed the many eta’s on the
ship unless something needed to be done. No one that wasn’t an eta ever
acknowledged his presence, that is, until Su’tara arrived. He thought for a
moment that maybe his fascination with her was due to the fact that she did
acknowledge him as a male. When she looked at him she wasn’t looking at a
servant.
Lo’kesh shook his head at the thought. That’s what they
all see, he thought to himself. And she is no different. He didn’t
notice the doors opened again. He jumped when he heard a familiar phrase.
“Hello, I’m Ta’noj, son of Sh’lok and Kayla.” Ta’noj noticed the startled look
on Lo’kesh face. “My apologizes, I did not mean to
frighten you.”
“It is quite alright,” Lo’kesh looked down as he continued
to work.
“How dare you leave without me,” Su’tara said with a hint
of annoyance in her tone. She stopped and looked at Lo’kesh. He glanced up at
her and quickly looked away.
He was satisfied and happy. He thought to himself if he
could have this moment everyday he will enjoy his job for the rest of his life.
In that single glimpse he could tell she was dressed to fight. The mesh body
suit clung to her body and she swung her small sticks with confidence.
“Hello Lo’kesh,” Su’tara nodded to him.
“Hello,” he replied not looking at her.
“Did my little brother introduce himself again?” she
chuckled. Ta’noj growled before storming off to the elevators. Lo’kesh let out
a soft trill before nodding his head. “You can look at me you know. I don’t
bite.”
“Is there something wrong with your teeth?” he questioned
with concern. Lo’kesh looked up at her when she started to laugh. Though her
teeth were straight and she had no fangs, her smile was very attractive.
“It was a figure of speech,” Su’tara explained as he
cleaned the wall and looked at her.
“I will remember that, daughter of Sh’lok and Kayla.”
“You forgot my name already?” Su’tara felt slightly
disappointed.
“Of course not,” he laughed softly. “You never gave me
permission to use it.”
“You have my permission,” Su’tara smiled.
“Let’s go,” Ta’noj yelled at her. Su’tara looked down the
hall. He was holding the elevator.
“Bye Lo’kesh.” Su’tara stared into his eyes. His eyes
reminded her so much of fire that it made her body warm.
“Goodbye Su’tara,” he nodded. He watched for a moment as
she practically skipped away while she twirled her sticks. She hit her brother
on top of his head. He roared at her, but she just laughed. Su’tara looked at
him once more before the doors closed.
“You have a crush on the eta?” Ta’noj teased.
“I do not,” Su’tara growled looking at him. “Don’t you
dare say that in front of anyone else, ok? Lo’kesh could get hurt for it.”
“I will not tell anyone, I will just tease you in
private,” he trilled softly. They searched for a room to practice in. Each one
was full and each time they were met with smirks and stares. Ta’noj growled
each time, but Su’tara just laughed. When they approached several halls, there
was always a male coming out on a stretcher.
“These males are weak,” Su’tara said to her brother quietly.
“I agree.” They watched the non responsive Yautja being
sent to the medical lab. They finally reached the finial hall.
“Mother and Father,” Su’tara said in surprise as they all
headed for the same hall. “What are you two doing?”
“Sh’lok had to go over a few things in each hall,” Kayla
said nervously. Kayla looked up at him and he angrily looked up from his
tablet. Kayla tried to rub his back, but the response she received was an angry
growl.
“Don’t,” he growled at her as he walked into the sparring
hall. Kayla was about to follow him. She turned to her children.
“Go back to your quarters.”
They looked at each other before following their mother
inside. Everyone already stopped practicing and was looking at them.
“So we have this supposedly new leader and his half breed
ass family,” A large male walked up to them.
“What is your name?” Sh’lok questioned angrily as he
stepped into the crowed with the other large warriors.
“Ya’sha,” he growled angrily.
Sh’lok looked at the list and sighed. “Damn, you’re on the
list. So I can’t kill you.” He looked at the other warriors around him. “You,”
Sh’lok pointed at another warrior. “You feel the same way?”
“Who doesn’t,” the man growled angrily. “I don’t care if
I’m on your list or not…”
Sh’lok didn’t give him a chance to finish. He tossed the
tablet to Kayla and pulled out a dagger to toss to the other Yautja. He pulled
out another one to fight.
Su’tara and Ta’noj watched with awe as their father easily
beat the Yautja before slicing his throat. Ta’noj was amazed that his father
was too honorable to kill an unarmed Yautja.
The others stepped back. “He is bleeding to death slowly,”
someone yelled. “Just finish him.”
“If anyone touches him before I tell them to they will be
next,” Sh’lok roared. “If you have a problem with me being your leader then let
me know so I can kill you now! And if anyone thinks of harming my family they
will die!”
Ta’noj nor Su’tara had never seen
their father so wild with rage. They weren’t standing near him yet they could
hear his ragged breathing. Nether one of them had ever saw him kill anyone
either. For Kayla, it was her fifth time today watching him kill a Yautja and
each time it made her flinch. Each time it was different. He would snap their
neck to end it quickly or pick an artery and allow them to bleed to death.
Sometimes he would break their bones before killing them. His movements were so
quick and precise. The warrior, like the others was no match for him.
Su’tara understood why he was so angry before they walked in.
He knew what he was about to do. Ta’noj straightened his back and stood proud
as he watched his father glare at each Yautja in the room, daring them all with
his eyes, to attempt to attack him. Ta’noj knew with certain that he would be a
great warrior like his father someday.
Sh’lok looked over at Ya’sha. “Ne’el said you would be a
great asset to this clan,” Sh’lok tried to calm himself down, “Don’t prove him
wrong.” He looked at the others, snarling at all of them. “Cross me and you
will die.”
Everyone looked down at the dying Yautja who coughed up
more blood before dying. Sh’lok disrespected him further by kicking his limp
body. He slowly bent down to retrieve his knife from the dead Yautja. Staying
on guard Sh’lok could faintly hear foot steps and a dagger being raised over
his head. In a split second he calculated how big and tall his enemy was and
quickly threw his dagger behind him. Kayla gasped as the dagger struck into the
males’ throat. His body fell next to Sh’lok. The others around him started to
whisper and stepped back as Sh’lok retrieved his dagger from the males’ throat.
He grunted as he stared at his weak attacker and stood up. Sh’lok turned around
and walked over to Kayla. He placed his hand on her waist and walked out.
Su’tara and Ta’noj stared at him. Ta’noj tapped his chest and nodded towards
his father. Sh’lok could understand how proud his son was. He too remembered
seeing his father kill for the first time. He looked at his children and
nodded. When he reached the door he yelled back at them. “Now you can dispose
of the bodies.”
He was silent as they walked to the elevators. When the
doors closed Sh’lok picked Kayla up and held her in his arms. He stopped the
elevator.
Sh’lok hated to kill another Yautja, but he knew at least
his family will be safe. He wouldn’t have to worry about Kayla or Su’tara going
down the wrong corridor and running into some males that hated humans. He took
in a deep breath and spoke softly. “I love you.”
Kayla sensed he was bothered by his actions. He held her a
little tighter. Though it was slightly painful he needed her at the moment and
she wasn’t about to tell him to stop. He held her up high enough so his head
rested on her breasts and she cuddled his head tenderly, kissing on the parted
slope on his head. “I love you too.” His body shook softly before finally
letting her down and staring into her eyes. “You did what you had to do for
your family.”
“Thank you for understanding.” Sh’lok asked Kayla to come
along with him, just in case he couldn’t control his anger. He knew hearing her
voice would calm him down. He pressed the button for the elevator to resume its
course. He didn’t say anything else to her. Sh’lok didn’t have to. Kayla knew
him well and he adored her for being so attentive to his feelings. He knew
Ta’noj, Shra’van and Su’tara were fine and he sighed thinking they had the
quarters to themselves. All he wanted to do was take a
long hot shower and ravish Kayla’s body.
