  mean, righ’ now, ‘e could be with ‘im ‘an…”

  Loralei’s
  head peaked up from below Jack’s waist, disappointment highly evident in her
  eyes. “Killjoy,” she muttered.

  “Yer
  stoppin’?”

  Loralei
  grunted. “Now, what do you think,
  Commodore?” She put her nightgown back
  into its correct position and sat up, crossing her arms over her chest. “There’s no way that a sane man can talk
  about his son being with another man while his wife pleasures him.” Her voice was low, as to not wake Jackie.

  A
  crooked smile appeared on Jack’s face.
  “Love, who ever said I was sane?” When he didn’t get a laugh from her, he continued. “Apologies, Lor, I know me mind’s not in the
  right place.”

  “Are
  you disappointed in him?”

  Jack’s
  smile faded. “Bill hurt me, ye know
  tha’. He dominated me, degraded me…made
  me think tha’ I could ne’er survive without ‘im.” He took a deep breath. “I
  don’ control ‘im, can’ tell ‘im ‘ow t’ feel about anything…hell, maybe this ‘as
  always been in ‘im somewhere…I jus’ don’ wan’ ‘im followin’ in me footsteps –
  well, in that case. I mean if ‘e wants
  t’ be known as a incredibly handsome an’ feared pirate who…”

  “You may want to stop while you’re ahead, Jack.” Loralei’s voice still held a serious edge to
  it.

  “Oh? Now I’m not
  handsome an’ feared?” Jack gave his
  wife the most irresistible of looks.

  Loralei smiled.
  “Well, you’re handsome, I’ll give you that, but I can’t speak for the
  feared part.”

  “Ye don’ fear pirates, love?” His eyes had darkened.

  Slowly,
  deliberately, Loralei shook her head. “I have a…taste…for pirates.” And just like that, they resumed their earlier activities, no
  more thoughts to what may or may not be happening rooms away…well, almost
  resumed them – Jack had decided that he owed something to his pirate loving
