Kayla was nervous as she helped Lee’na get dressed. Lee’na
was showing proudly and she moved slower. Pahel assured her it will be a big
healthy boy and Sh’lok tapped his chest at the news. “Are you ok?” Kayla asked
softly. Lee’na told them over and over how she did not want to go. Kayla knew
it was because of Ne’el.
“What if he talks to me?” she spoke in a soft tone.
“Then rub your belly and eat,” Kayla smiled at her.
“Sh’lok was able to give you something he could never do. It will
surly anger him to see you so happy. Did he see you on the docks when I came
back from the Jafren ship?” Lee’na shook her head no.
“He could not detect my scent due to the pregnancy, or
maybe he forgotten how my scent used to make him trill in delight.” Lee’na
touched her stomach and smiled before looking at Kayla. “His mate will be
there. Should I tell her I am sorry?”
“No,” Kayla shook her head. Just nod and keep walking.
Stay under Sh’lok and hold onto him.”
“How do you feel about that?” Lee’na gave her a weary
look. Kayla held up her hand to show the scar from when she cut it.
“Lee’na we are fine.”
Lee’na reached over to open the package Lex gave to Kayla.
“Oh my,” she stammered as she held up the garment. She looked at Kayla whom was
just as shocked. “Are you really going to wear this to the ceremony?”
“Hmm,” Kayla stood up and Lee’na held it in front of her.
“The females in her clan do not wear much clothing. Maybe that’s why their clan
is just as large, if not larger.” She looked over at Lee’na. “Lex will be
there. She would probably be disappointed if I didn’t.” Kayla stared at it a
moment longer and nodded. “Yes I will wear it.”
“Lee’na,” Sh’lok purred softly as she walked out of the
room. He touched her stomach. “What is taking Kayla so long?”
“She will,” Lee’na stammered, wondering if she should
describe the dress. “She will be with us shortly.”
“You and the children go to the ship.” He looked back at
Ta’noj, Su’tara and Lo’kesh, whom waited patiently. It still tickled him to see
his daughter fully dressed. Lo’kesh told her it was the only way he would
accept her invitation. Shra’van was preparing the ship. Sh’lok was about to go
check on Kayla until someone buzzed the com.
Sh’lok emitted a low growl, but stepped aside to allow
Kul’vir to come in. “Tell our mother I will not be in attendance due to an
illness,” he said sarcastically. They stared at each other for a moment. “If it
is ok my family will go with you.”
“You are not sick Kul’vir,” Sh’lok crossed his arms. “You
do not wish to see Ga’gan.”
“He plans to announce to my family tonight that Su’tara is
not his daughter,” Kul’vir slowly sat down in the nearest chair before looking
at Sh’lok.
Sh’lok suddenly felt bad for him. They have been through a
lot together, but he never wished to see any harm come to his friend, whom once
treated him like a brother. “Do you wish for me to speak with him?” Sh’lok
questioned. “I can ask Kayla to tell him not to…”
“It is my fate,” Kul’vir sighed. “If he feels compelled to
do so then I am ok with it. Maybe then he will break his silence and speak to
me.”
“Maybe now you will know how I feel,” Maha’vin
interjected. They both turned to stare at him. “The door was not locked and I
came to see what was taking so long.”
“I do not care how you feel,” Kul’vir growled. Maha’vin
stared at him for a moment.
“Do not be a coward and not
attend the ceremony,” Maha’vin urged.
“I agree,” Sh’lok stared at him. “If anyone says anything
to you we can attack them together.”
“Like we used to,” Kul’vir chuckled. He looked at Sh’lok
and nodded in agreement. Sh’lok could tell Kul’vir wanted to say something to
him. They have been friends far to long and he no longer cared about their
feud. He was just happy to see his friend laugh again. Sh’lok shook Kul’vir’s
shoulder and in return Kul’vir gave him a nod.
“We are ready to depart,” Ba’naj announced as he walked in
with Sa’dar.
“Kayla is still getting dressed,” Sh’lok looked over at
the door hoping his mate would hurry.
Maha’vin roared in frustration causing Kayla to laugh.
Hearing her laugh made him grunt softly. Though she was in another room it was
still soft and sweet.
“Will her friend be in attendance?” Ba’naj questioned. “Did
you see how the females dressed on that ship? I was ready to take on two more
mates.” They laughed at Ba’naj, but when they heard Sa’dar groan softly they
all looked to see what he was staring at.
Kayla smiled at Sh’lok as she walked out the room slowly.
“Sorry it took me so long, she apologized. “I didn’t know which way to put it
on.”
“Fuck,” Sh’lok stared at her. He was torn between taking
her back in the room to release himself inside her, or
going to the ceremony. “Turn around.”
The short, light gray sheer dress left nothing to the
imagination. There was a short piece of cloth that wrapped loosely around her
clearly visible breasts. The material went down her stomach and around her hips
to form a skirt that barley came to her thighs. The only thing that covered her
private area was the matching thong. Some parts of the material clung to her
body due to her slight perspiration. When she turned around she heard Sh’lok
growl. “This was Lex idea was it not?”
“She had it made for me for the ceremony,” Kayla said
softly as she touched Sh’lok’s arm. “It would be an insult if I do not wear
it.”
“She will need guards,” Kul’vir warned them.
“Yes, lots,” Ba’naj teased. “I know I can kill three
easily.” Kayla laughed at him, but turned to look at Sh’lok. She could smell
his scent getting stronger and it started to turn her on. He grabbed the side
of her neck. Kayla instinctively leaned her head to the side so he could nip at
her tender, exposed skin.
“Oh please, control your hormones,” Maha’vin yelled at
them both.
“After the ceremony I will attack you,” Sh’lok whispered
in her ear. Kayla bit her lip as his hand moved up and down her side. Maha’vin
threw her cloak in their direction and Sh’lok caught it without taking his eyes
off of her. After a moment he wrapped it around her body. “Su’tara will be
jealous. You know she like the way Lex dresses.” Kayla was glad nudity meant
nothing to their species. It was the act of wearing partial clothing that
turned the males on.
Sh’lok‘s scent subsided and Kayla was able to pick up on
the other scents. “Sh’lok and I are not the only ones who need to control our
hormones,” She teased as they walked toward the ship.
“Well I am not going to lie,” Ba’naj smiled. “You made my
dick hard.”
“Do you always have to talk
like that?” Kayla huffed.
“What?” he looked over at Kayla.
Kayla stepped in front of him and he emitted a low growl,
completely forgetting this was her way to get someone’s attention. If anyone
else stepped in front of him in such a manner they would be on the floor
nursing a broken jaw. “What if I talked
that way Ba’naj?” He folded his arms and nodded for her to continue. “Last
night I sucked on Sh’lok’s dick before his rammed it inside my pussy. He then
fucked me for hours until I begged him to stop.” Kayla noticed the other males
groaned softly. “Ugh, never mind.”
“No, please,” Ba’naj begged. “Tell us more.” Sh’lok
trilled softly as he nudged Kayla.
Maha’vin noticed the mark Sh’lok left on Kayla’s neck and
grunted. “Sh’lok you had to mark her? How barbaric.”
“She is mine,” he said as a matter of fact. “I can mark
her.”
As soon as they reached the ship, Su’tara, Lee’na, and
Stef’na opened Kayla’s cloak so they could see the dress.
“Oh please let me wear it,” Su’tara begged.
“Never,” Lo’kesh growled. Maha’vin laughed at him.
“Her best friend Lex had it made for her,” Stef’na teased
a she stared at Kayla. They hadn’t really spoken to one another since Lee’na
became Sh’lok’s mate.
“Do I need to cut your hand to show you how close you are
to me Stef’na?” Kayla smiled at her.
“No," she laughed shaking her shoulder. “Lee’na told
me about that and you are crazy.”
“Mother,” Shra’van questioned looking at her as Kul’vir
took over the ship. “Are you comfortable in that sort of attire? Em’mi says it
is almost equivalent to not wearing anything at all.”
“I am comfortable,” she nodded.
“Why is he being so nice to you,” Ta’noj questioned in
English.
“Yeah, that is a bit odd,” Su’tara added.
“I am being nice to her because she is my mother,”
Shra’van said proudly as everyone looked at him strangely. No one, but Em’mi
and Kayla ever heard him speak in another language. He chuckled as he watched
Ta’noj and Su’tara shocked expression.
“You learned your mother’s language,” Stef’na said in
amazement.
“It is my language too,” Shra’van said proudly as he
looked at Kayla. “I am half ooman.”
Kayla smiled at him. Shra’van grunted before walking off
with Ro’shan. “Are you up to something?” Ro’shan questioned softly. “You called
Kayla your mother.”
Shra’van looked at him and laughed. “Wait until you see my
future mate.”
Lee’na started to look a little uneasy as the ship landed.
“What is wrong Lee’na?” Sh’lok sat next to her. “Is it the baby?”
She shook her head no and looked at Kayla. “She will be fine
Sh’lok,” Kayla assured him. Nam’rah and Sa’tesh were waiting for them. Nam’rah
felt on Lee’na’s stomach and purred, making the baby kick in response. After
nodding towards Kayla she wrapped her arm around Lee’na and walked off with
her.
“So is that the reason it took you so long to get
dressed?” Sh’lok whispered as he watched Lee’na and Nam’rah. Kayla nodded her
head.
“She was apprehensive about seeing Ne’el again,” Kayla
looked at him. “She does not need to be stressed while she is pregnant.” Sh’lok
held Kayla closer as they walked to the hall. He noticed she walked slower than
usual, but didn’t say anything.
“Are you alright Lo’kesh?” Su’tara
watched as he studied his surroundings carefully. He had never been on another
ship as a guest. It was a bit overwhelming for him. Su’tara gave his hand a
gentle squeeze and he looked at her.
“It was very nice of your parents to invite me,” he nodded
towards her. He bent down to whisper in her ear. “We have to have our ritual
Su’tara. That or tell your parents about your pregnancy.”
Ba’naj noticed how they were whispering back and forth.
“When is your ritual,” he chuckled. “You two bicker as though you have been
mated for years.”
Lo’kesh stared at Su’tara. “When is our ritual Su’tara?”
Sh’lok and Kul’vir stopped walking and turned around to
wait for an answer.
“In three weeks,” Su’tara announced as she looked at
Lo’kesh. He nodded in agreement and trilled softly. Kul’vir grunted and
continued to walk.
Once they were inside the great hall Kayla suddenly
noticed Ga’gan playing with Nam’rah’s younger children. She smiled, knowing it
was his first time seeing his new siblings. He looked at her and nodded. Kayla
returned his nod. Ne’el was talking to one of the guards when he noticed his
mother walk in with Lee’na on her arm. He walked over to her.
Lee’na looked up at Ne’el innocently. “Are you hungry
Lee’na?” Nam’rah purred. Ne’el noticed her hand resting on her stomach.
“You are pregnant?” he questioned. He suddenly realized it
was a dumb question. She was obviously showing. Lee’na nodded her head. “I am
happy for you Lee’na. I knew how badly you wanted a pup.”
Sh’lok walked over and wrapped his arm around Lee’na’s
waist. “Hello Ne’el.”
“Congratulations to you Sh’lok,” Ne’el nodded. “It is
surprising to see that after all the females you used to fuck on this ship you
still have enough stamina to produce a pup.”
Sh’lok laughed and Ne’el growled at him. “If we had
secondary names yours would be jealously,” Sh’lok chuckled. “Do not get angry
because I have accomplished something you could not.” Sh’lok purred softly on
Lee’na’s neck before walking away.
“Where is Lex?” Kayla questioned Em’mi. Shra’van held her
hand as she spoke with Kayla.
“My sister had her baby today,” Em’mi explained. She
looked over at Shra’van. “Father knew how much I wanted to be here so he
escorted me. This will be the last time I see Shra’van for a while.” Kayla
could hear the disappointment in her voice.
“I am a pilot,” he reminded her. “You will see me often.”
Kayla excused herself. She could tell they wanted every moment alone with one
another.
They all finally sat down as Sa’tesh voice filled the air.
He spoke about the victory with the Jafren and praised Kayla and Sh’lok for
doing a well job. He spoke of his agreement of peace to Elder Chi’rayu. The
finial part of his speech overwhelmed Kayla.
Ne’el stood beside his father. “My son has agreed to
become leader once again for the second ship.” Ne’el looked at Sh’lok and
grunted. She felt Sh’lok squeeze on her hand.
“It is no big deal,” Kayla whispered in the elder’s
language.
“We are no longer allowed to speak in that tongue,” Sh’lok
said to her softly in English. “He is only doing this because Lee’na is
pregnant.”
“To make someone else leader is absolutely stupid.”
“Who dares call me stupid?” Sa’tesh roared angrily. His
mandibles flared and the guards stepped in closer.
Kayla heart started
pounding as Shra’van stood up. “I did.”
“How dare you boy!” Ne’el snarled.
“The conditions on that other ship was horrible,” Shra’van
roared. “Now that everyone is living peacefully and Ne’el’s ex mate is happy
and pregnant he wants the ship back? Your son is pathetic!”
“This is coming from a mere boy who is half ooman?” Ne’el
laughed. Sh’lok was about to stand, but Kayla tugged him back down.
“Yes I am half ooman,” he said proudly. “It took me many
years to realize that it is nothing to be ashamed of. I have more lineage and
history to pass on to my children than you could ever have. I am proud of my
parents and their accomplishments. If it were not for my father you would still
be tapping your mandibles trying to figure out what to do about the Jafren. And
if it were not for my ooman mother your plans would have never worked.”
Kayla stood up and walked over to Shra’van. She tried to
wipe her tears away quickly before he could see them. She had never heard
Shra’van speak up on her behalf. He looked down at his mother. “Shra’van it is
ok,” she smiled. “Maybe now that your father doesn’t run the ship we can spend
more time together.” She caressed her cheek softly with his. Su’tara and Ta’noj
gasped when Shra’van hugged her.
“You are my mother,” he purred softly. “And I am sorry for
the years I have given you an extremely hard time for it.”
“Well that apology is better than running any ship,” Kayla
smiled as she tugged on one of his locks.
“We accept your decision with great respect Sa’tesh,”
Sh’lok stood up and nodded towards him. “Please forgive my sons outburst.
Shra’van, apologize.”
“No,” he growled.
“Apologize boy,” Sh’lok growled.
“For what Father, telling the truth?”
Elder Chi’rayu watched the young Yautja as he pulled away
from his mother to stare directly at his father. He nodded in approval of his
sudden idea. He would make a great leader and Elder of his own ship. “Are you
thinking the same as I?”
Scar looked at him and nodded. “He would make a good
leader.”
Em’mi stood up next to Shra’van. Her father growled at
her, but she ignored him. Shra’van stared at her. “I will be your mate
Shra’van.” Kayla smiled when her son roared happily.
“Yes, well may our clan live
strong,” Maha’vin sighed from boredom. “Can we eat now?”
“Not yet,” Lee’na announced as she stood up. She stared
for a moment at Ne’el and his mate. She then looked at his children. “Elder
Sa’tesh…” Lee’na paused a moment and looked at Sh’lok. He tilted his head from confusion.
Up until now Lee’na’s behavior all evening was aloof. Now she was ready to
talk. “Ne’el did not and can not perform the job of leader as well as Sh’lok.”
Ne’el snarled at her. “How dare you!”
“The etas were treated poorly and in harsh conditions,”
she continued in her soft tone. “Sh’lok and Kayla changed that. If Ne’el is
made leader once again, I will see to it that the etas will not serve under
him.” Ne’el roared at her and Sa’tesh growled as she continued in a louder
tone. “I will make sure that they will all agree with me that death would be a
better option than having your son as a leader!”
“You crazy bitch!” Ne’el’s mate
roared at her as she stood up to lunge at Lee’na.
Sh’lok stared in shock as Lee’na swiftly grabbed his knife
and held it tightly, ready to attack. He was amazed and slightly turned on at
how quick she was.
“I will show you crazy by finishing what I started!”
Lee’na growled at her. “Being left for almost twenty five years in the eta
quarters and being raped periodically…” Lee’na voice trailed off as she
suddenly noticed everyone looking at her. “Be lucky I am not a revengeful
person anymore or both of your heads would be on the fucking floor.”
Sh’lok touched Lee’na’s thigh and she looked at him
innocently. Everyone was quiet. Kayla mouth was still open as she stared at the
Lee’na she only heard rumors about.
“Damn, should I be worried?” Kayla questioned as she tried
to lighten up everyone’s mood. Lee’na stared at Ne’el and his mate while
holding up her hand towards Kayla to show her the scar. Sh’lok stood up when
the guards started to move in slowly.
“She is correct Brother,” Maha’vin nodded towards Sh’lok
and Lee’na. “Ne’el you are a great warrior. Sh’lok and Kayla have issues, but
they are young. Lee’na is obviously still crazy and the ship is a lot better.”
Sa’tesh looked at Sa’dar and Ba’naj. “Do you agree with
Maha’vin?”
They looked at each other before nodding in approval.
“Well then, Kayla and Sh’lok will remain in their
positions on the ship,” he looked over at Ne’el. “You and I will converse
later. Let us eat.”
“I’m hungry too,” Kayla mumbled as she sat back down next
to Sh’lok.
“You ate in our quarters,” Sh’lok said in a low tone. “You
ate on the way here and now you are hungry again?”
Kayla shook her head yes. Her stomach growled as the smell
of food filled the air. P’tea clicked her mandibles as she looked at Kayla. She
agreed to keep her silence when she saw Kayla throwing up in the bathroom.
“What do you know female?” Ba’naj grunted at P’tea. “Whenever
you have a secret you twitch.”
“Are you pregnant Kayla?” Lee’na said with excitement.
“No,” She answered immediately.
“Oh my goodness mother, are you having a baby?” Su’tara
said loudly. Everyone started to look at her.
“No,” she protested. P’tea started to twitch her mandibles
again. “Ugh, Ba’naj is right. You can not keep a secret.” Kayla turned to
Sh’lok. “I have been feeling a little sick lately. P’tea saw me in the restroom
during one of those times…”
Sh’lok stood up. “It may have been sixteen or seventeen
years, but the only time you get sick is when you are expecting.” He lifted her
up. “I am taking your mother to the medical lab.”
“Ok so Shra’van has a mate,” Maha’vin looked at Ta’noj.
“Kavi’ta,” he chirped proudly.
“Ta’noj has a mate. Kayla is pregnant,” Maha’vin sighed as
others around him laughed. “Su’tara, are you pregnant?”
“Who told you?” She blurted.
“It was a rhetorical question,” Maha’vin was surprised by
her answer. Great grandfather, he thought to himself.
“You are having a baby?” Lee’na gasped. “Who is going to
tell Kayla?”
“Oh please allow me,” Ba’naj growled. “Her look of
astonishment is so cute.”
Ta’noj trilled softly and Shra’van grunted before turning
his attention back towards Em’mi.
“Su’tara is having a baby Kul’vir,” Ga’gan growled at him
while they ate. “You should be happy.”
“Why should he be happy?” Stef’na shook her head. “It is
your daughter. You should congratulate her.” Ga’gan sat his utensil down and
looked at Kul’vir. He never really looked at him until now. He started to
remember when his mother allowed him to hold Kul’vir. Seeing his broth in his
arms he promised Kul’vir that he would always protect him. They were always
close, until Ga’gan started to go on hunts.
“A silver tooth,” Ga’gan said out loud. Kul’vir stared at
him before reaching in his cloth and pulling out a tooth from the head of a
kainde amedha.
Ga’gan suddenly remembered. It was from his first kill.
Kul’vir was upset that he was too young to go so he gave it to him so they
could share the victory together. “Do you always carry it?”
“Of course,” he shrugged his shoulders. “It was from our
first kill.”
Ga’gan stood up and looked at him. “I would hug you, but I
am still angry,” he mumbled. “I am going to go congratulate my daughter on
having my first grandchild.”
Kul’vir took a deep breath and nodded.
