Shra’van sat silently in
his room gazing out of the window. Today was the day his brothers would leave
and Ta’noj would soon learn of his fate. He slowly put on his cloak as he
stared out the window at his father’s ship in the distance.
“You are sad to see him
go,” Em’mi walked over to Shra’van and smoothed out his cloak before turning
him around. She knew her mate well enough to see through his dictatorial
attitude.
“Well I am no longer
worried if he will die,” Shra’van nipped the tip of Em’mi’s fingers before
patting her hand. “It is over Em’mi. My siblings have accepted my mother’s
death and forgiven Ba’naj. He spoke to each of us alone. All of our pain
combined, is only half of what he was going through. I never witness him in so
much pain as he talked, though he tried to hide it.” Shra’van crossed his arms
as he thought over his conversation with Ba’naj. “I almost felt sorry for him.”
“I am surprised Ta’noj
is allowing him and his family sanctuary aboard his ship, and he forgave him so
easily.”
Shra’van shook his head,
“It was not easy. Oh, I also spoke with Pahel. He knew all along. His only
answer to me was ‘she was my friend and I would protect her character at all
costs.’ He has no regret not telling anyone.” Shra’van nodded. “That is a good
friend.”
“What about your
father?”
“Someday he will seek
revenge upon Ba’naj,” Shra’van walked out of his quarters with Em’mi behind
him. “It will be a long overdue battle and someone will die. It is not my
concern.” He turned to look at his mate. “My primary concern now is hunting,
being a good leader and filling your belly with pups.”
“So you mean the usual,”
she joked as they slowly walked to the temporary docking port of Ta’noj ship. Pu’sha joined
them and Em’mi held her hand as they walked behind Shra’van and whispered among
one another.
(On The Docks)
Sh’lok slowly paced back
and forth as he waited with Sa’tesh. As with any new ship that was not an
enemy, they were there to bid Ta’noj a safe journey.
“Oh no,” Lee’na gasped
as Sh’lok threw a dagger directly at Ba’naj’s head. She knew why he sharpened
it for hours. As if expecting the feeble attempt on his life Ba’naj caught the
sharpened blade with ease.
“Wow Boy, you managed to
make me bleed,” Ba’naj grunted as he looked down at the nick in his hand from
catching the sharp dagger. He threw it back at Sh’lok before removing his cape.
Ba’naj feared Sh’lok would try to fight him again, but not so soon. “I told you
to prepare yourself the last time we spoke. Do you think you are prepared?” He
walked closer to Sh’lok and shook his head. “The first time she considered
telling you I should have let her. During a meeting, in front of everyone, she
was willing to disgrace herself by telling the truth, yet I stopped her. If I
allowed her to tell the truth, maybe she would be here now, proudly wishing her
son a safe journey.”
“No, Kayla would have
defiantly been right by Ta’noj side on his new ship,” Lee’na nodded.
“Regardless of what she said, Ta’noj was her favorite child.”
“Lee’na, how dare you
have good thoughts of a disrespectful whore…”
Before he could finish,
Sh’lok felt a hand go around his throat. He quickly fought Ba’naj off, but with
a powerful roar Ba’naj pinned him onto the ground. “Do you think your dagger
hurts worse than your words Boy?” Ba’naj growled as Sh’lok turned the knife
deeper into Ba’naj’s arm.
“She was too much of a
coward to ever tell the truth,” Sh’lok growled. “A trait she learned from her
fuck partner.”
“Do you know why you are
angry Boy?” Ba’naj gripped his neck tighter. “Because you know as well as I
that I was far more than a fuck partner. Let me refresh your memory.”
“Keep your illicit
thoughts to yourself. I know of the time you speak of,” Sh’lok spat. “It was
her last meeting.”
“Well enlighten me,”
Maha’vin stepped closer to them.
(Flashback)
Since Kayla was avoiding
him, Ba’naj was avoiding all of the meetings Sh’lok requested for him to
attend. This time he sent Sa’dar to find him He growled in annoyance when his
brother pushed him from behind.
“So you are finally
going to a meeting,” Sa’dar teased as he pushed his brother again. “Your mates
have you busy?”
“Not busy enough,”
Ba’naj mumbled as he thought of Kayla. When Ba’naj walked in he could hear her
hold her breath. He glanced her way before taking his usual seat across from
her.
“For you to be an
advisor you have not been doing your job lately,” Sh’lok crossed him arms and
stared at him.
“I can say the same
about you,” Ba’naj mumbled.
“What is that supposed
to mean?” Sh’lok stood up and growled at him. Ba’naj watched Kayla touch his arm.
When he looked down at his mate he slowly sat back down.
“Ba’naj, please don’t,” Kayla glanced over in
his direction.
Ba’naj took in a deep
breath before typing back. “I am sorry. I have been going mad without you.” He
noticed her shift in her seat. “Why are you avoiding me this time? You
suddenly feel obligation to him again?”
“He is my mate,” Kayla nodded in Maha’vin
direction when he mentioned her name.
“What am I?” Ba’naj slammed his fist
on the table in frustration making Kayla jump. The others looked at him.
“You don’t approve of
the new fighter ships?” Sa’dar questioned.
“They are fine,” Ba’naj
looked at everyone, including Kayla. “Excuse me for my outburst. My thoughts
were elsewhere.”
“This is nothing new,”
Sh’lok grunted as he continued talking to Ya’sha.
“You are everything to
me. You are the father to our children. My love, my life,” Kayla stopped typing as
she looked over at Sh’lok for a moment. “Sh’lok is just my mate.”
Ba’naj read over her
words again before looking up at her. He looked back down and started to type. “Kayla,
I have been close to death many times and had seen the heavens, as you like to
call it, that awaits me. Then I mated with you and realized I seen nothing but
a mere glimpse of what the after life is supposed to really look like. The
orgasms you give me is the heavens I want to go to every day with you. Death is
merely death, but your love for me is my heaven. I have never felt this way
with my mates.”
Ba’naj stared at Kayla
as she suddenly stood up. He watched her wipe her eyes before looking over at
Sh’lok. “Oh God, I’m so sorry. Not for what I’ve been doing, but for not
telling you.”
“Kayla, what is wrong?”
Sh’lok touched her face, but she removed his hand.
“I can’t do this
anymore,” she stammered before looking at Ba’naj. He could hear her heart
beating wildly.
“Kayla,” Ba’naj tried to
cut her off, but she continued to talk.
“Sh’lok you need to know
the truth,” she cried. “I didn’t want it to come out this way. Not here in
front of everyone, but if I don’t tell you now I will never say anything.” She
looked up at Sh’lok. “This secret I’ve been keeping from you will destroy
families, but I can’t do it anymore. Ba’naj and I…”
“Have been meeting
secretly for some time now,” Ba’naj interjected as he stood up.”
“What?” Sh’lok tilted
his head to the side as he stared at them both.
Ba’naj looked over at
his worried brother, whom stood as well. Ba’naj stared at Kayla for a moment
before starring back at Sh’lok. “I have been confiding in Kayla about my
affair. I have, I am having a mental and physical affair with another female
that my mates do not know of. Kayla felt that you should know of this since it
is against our code, but I would not allow her to tell you.”
“You drag my mate into
your problems because you cannot control your dick,” Sh’lok roared at him.
“Ba’naj,” Kayla
whispered.
He shook his head at her
before continuing. “I have children with this other female and I needed Kayla’s
advice. Like my mates, this female means everything to me.” Ba’naj stared at
Kayla as he spoke. “I would walk to my death for her, but she has a mate and
she refuse to leave him. So I have been talking to Kayla about what I should do.
Kayla feels like she is betraying you for not telling you such a dire secret.”
Sh’lok walked closer to
him. “You could have gotten my mate killed with your actions. If this other
male finds out that Kayla knew of the affair he could request her death on the
planet to the other elders and they would grant it. I should kill you myself.”
“Leave him alone,” Kayla
spoke softly. Sh’lok turned to look at her.
“Why would you protect
such a fool?”
“I said leave him
alone,” Kayla clinched her fist.
“You are correct Sh’lok,
and you have my sincerest apologies,” Ba’naj nodded as he tried to ease the
tension between Sh’lok and Kayla.
“I noticed a few more
blue eyed pups lately,” Ya’sha joked. “Kayla even you have a few of your own.”
“Genetics,” Ba’naj,
Sh’lok and Kayla said in unison as Ba’naj stared at her.
“So what is the outcome
of this affair?” Maha’vin smirked as he crossed his arms.
“She is still very much
a part of my life,” Ba’naj picked up his tablet. “I am there whenever she wants
me. I will forever be there.”
Sh’lok turned to Kayla.
“You are to never speak to him again about his trifling affairs.”
Kayla frowned as she shook
her head in disbelief. “Do not tell me whom to speak with Sh’lok.”
“I am your mate and
leader of this ship,” Sh’lok roared, not caring that the others were listening.
Ba’naj stopped at the
door when Kayla started to yell back. “I am your mate and the Elder!” She
turned to look at Ba’naj. “Please wait for me, I wish to speak with you.” She
turned to look at Sh’lok once more. “I outrank you Sh’lok. Never speak down to
me again.”
As they quietly walked
down the hall Ba’naj could hear Sh’lok roar angrily. “He is very angry.”
“So what,” Kayla turned
to look at him. “Why did you stop me?”
Ba’naj touched her face
gently, watching her frown lines slowly disappear. “That was not an appropriate
place to tell him. Do you still wish for him to know the truth?” he watched the
confusion on her face. “Give me the word and I will challenge him.”
“You will not harm my
mate.”
“Then what am I?” Ba’naj
looked at her once more before walking away.
Maha’vin
and Sa’dar stood in shook as Ba’naj and Sh’lok started fighting again. “Are you
going to stop them?” Maha’vin looked over at Sa’dar.
“No,”
Sa’dar turned away as Sa’tesh tried to break them apart. “Sh’lok has every
right to try and kill my brother. And my brother has every right to defend
himself.”
Shra’van grunted as Ta’noj
rounded the corner with his mates. “Where are your pups?”
“On board my ship,”
Ta’noj nodded towards Pu’sha and Em’mi. “My ship.” He grunted again at the
sound of it.
“Do you have a name
leader Ta’noj,” Em’mi teased.
“Not yet.” He stepped
aside so the females could enter the room first. He grunted at Jasmine and
chuckled when she grunted back. "You are learning, my mate."
Sh’lok glanced at his
sons as they entered the room. Rage filled him again as he noticed the smirk on
Ta’noj face as he whispered in his mates ear.
“Do you hear anything I
am saying?” Sa’tesh stepped closer to him and growled. “It is over Sh’lok. The
death was an accident. If you feel the need for revenge after we leave our
planet then I cannot stop you. That would be between you and Ba’naj.”
Sa’tesh looked to see
Ba’naj and Maha’vin whispering among one another. If Ta’noj would have walked
in any sooner he would have witnessed Ba’naj and his father exchanging blows.
Em’mi gasped as she
looked at the size of the ship. “My goodness Shra’van, how long have you been
working on this vessel?”
“Many years,” he nodded.
He stepped closer to his father and shook his shoulder.
Ta’noj and Sh’lok stared
at one another for a moment before Jasmine decided to speak up. “Hello again
Sh’lok.”
He nodded at her before
talking to Ta’noj. “You will take Pahel with you. Since his loyalties were
solely for your mother I do not want him on my ship. Maybe he can get close to
your Jasmine.”
“Speak her name again
and I will kill you,” Ta’noj growled lowly. He was about to step closer to his
father, but Shra’van stepped in-between them.
“Not here on my ship,”
Shra’van looked at both of them. “Take your battle with you.” Shra’van glanced
over his fathers rings. “He is your son again?”
Ta’noj was hesitant at
first. He looked over at Kavi’ta and Jasmine before stepping closer to his
father. “You reclaimed my ring. Did you fight for it or was it given to you?”
“Does it matter?” Sh’lok
grumbled as he glared back at his son with the exact same anger in his eyes.
“Did you fight for it?”
Ta’noj barked.
“Yes he did,” Ba’naj
answered before Sh’lok had a chance to say anything. “We fought a good battle.
Sh’lok bought the dagger near my head and decided that it was not worth it.
Your father spared my life.” He glanced at Sh’lok before looking back at
Ta’noj. “Someday I will tell you of the
embarrassing story.” P’tea walked over to Ba’naj and stared at him for a moment
before laying her head on his chest and purring softly.
Shra’van stared at his
father and took note of his posture. He didn’t even bother to look at Ba’naj or
acknowledge if his story was true. “Ba’naj just lied for my father,” Shra’van
shook his head in disbelief.
“Come my mate,” Ba’naj
held P’tea’s hand gently. “I think you are due for a serious fucking.”
“I have not heard you
use the word fuck and mate together since Kayla’s death,” Maha’vin grunted.
“My chest is lighter and
my dick is harder,” Ba’naj chuckled as he squeezed on P’tea’s behind. “We shall
take the young bloods on a hunt when we settle into our new home.”
“Agreed,” Maha’vin
nodded.
Sh’lok stared at his two
sons as they glared back at him. He
noticed their strong posture, their heads held high and the soft squint to
their eyes. He remembered how Kayla used to look at others in the same manner. It
was her ‘don’t bother me’ look. Sh’lok nodded at them both before walking away
with Sa’tesh.
Ta'noj turned to his
brother once more and gave him a nod before touching his shoulder.
“You do not have to say
it,” Shra’van knew his little brother was grateful.
“I was not,” Ta’noj
growled. “I will see you on the planet.” He looked over at Em’mi and Pu’sha.
“In the pyramids perhaps?”
“Perhaps,” Shra’van
chuckled at his brothers’ inquisitive behavior towards his mates. He stepped
closer so only Ta’noj could hear him. “Only if you fight me for them.”
“You will be severely
defeated,” Ta’noj warned him.
“Maybe,” Shra’van stared
at his brother with great pride. “But it will be great fun. You are among the
greatest fighters I have ever known. And one of the worst tempered.”
“I am a great bad blood,
remember?” Ta’noj joked.
“You are great, and our
mother would have been proud of you. Be well.” Shra’van tapped his chest before
tapping his brothers’ chest.
Ta’noj stood on the deck
of his ship proudly as the ship main doors slowly closed.
“Why did you install
those lazy moving floors throughout the corridors?” Ba’naj growled as he stood
next to him. He looked over at Wa’jeeh and nodded. “Was it for this heavy boy?”
Wa’jeeh growled angrily, causing Ba’naj to chuckle.
“It is for Jasmine,”
Ta’noj explained as the doors closed shut with a loud thud. He turned to look
at Ba’naj and Wa’jeeh before shaking his head. He never noticed how much they
looked alike. “She is not as fit as my mother was and I wish for her to be
comfortable in her new environment.”
“And what is the name of
this ship?” Maha’vin questioned as he walked towards them. “I have spoken with
Sa’tesh earlier and he wishes to know how to address the vessel.”
Ta’noj thought for a
moment as he watched several eta’s clean the deck. “Cho’paw-nih Kayla.”
“Kayla’s Revenge?”
Maha’vin questioned. “It is so dark and menacing. It is unfriendly and almost
unapproachable. You will be under attack for the name itself.” Maha’vin nodded
before smiling to himself and nodding his head.
“I like it,” Wa’jeeh
laughed as he patted his brother on the back.
“Will Mi’tra be joining
us?” Ba’naj questioned.
“She will continue her
missions alone and dock with us periodically.”
“Then we will be safe,”
Ba’naj joked. “The name is suiting.” He turned his attentions towards Wa’jeeh.
“Come fight me boy. Maybe it is not too late to rid you of some of that waist
line.”
“You should have just
called it Ta’noj,” Maha’vin growled as he started to walk away with Wa’jeeh and
Ba’naj. “You are Kayla’s revenge.”
“I know, but I do not
wish to boast,” Ta’noj turned to talk to his brother, but he had already left.
He turned his attentions back towards the eta’s before walking up to one of
them. The Yautja bowed respectfully to Ta’noj before continuing his duties of
scrubbing the decks. Ta’noj slowly got down on his knees and took the cleaning
material from the eta. The other eta’s looked at the new leader with shock and
worry. “Please allow me to help you. Go rest for the day. You will have a much
heavier battle on your hands someday.”
