Reassuring?

"How dare they?!" I slam the phone down on the receiver of the phone booth harder than necessary. I have tears running down my cheeks, but I don't care. How could they?!

Last summer I had driven down here for a vacation and maybe to find work, I checked in with my parents _Every_ weekend, and now out of nowhere they disown me. Oh, my bad, not yet, but if I 'Don't get back home tomorrow!'.

"The Nerve! Ooh!" I stomp away from the pay phone, watching the ground so no one can see my tears. I let the tears pour unchecked down my cheeks as I walk down the boardwalk to the beach, once there I let out a few sniffles, still fighting the sobs I know are there as I wander over to an abandoned beach fire, down near the water. I fall to my knees carelessly to curl up on the still warm sand before letting out all my pent up tears and frustration.

I don't know entirely how long I was crying there, probably only a few minutes, but the pain of it made it feel like hours. I'd never been close to my parents, or even had a good relationship with them, but it still hurt like hell. Worse yet, my rent was due next week and I was broke... I cry harder with that thought, a few ragged sobs tearing free from my throat.

"Hey... You gonna be ok?" I hear a soft voice behind me and I jerk back into a sitting position and start rubbing the tears away as I look around.

"Maybe..." I sniffle again before catching sight of him, he's cute. Long dark blond curly hair, blue jeans, black leather chaps, a slightly dirty white shirt and a beautiful decorated jacket. I stare a moment at his jacket, admiring the patches, sparkles and ribbons. "Why do you care?" I wipe the tears away as I ask suspiciously.

"Well, a pretty lady is alone on the beach crying, especially this time of night... Why not?" He smiles at me sweetly.

"I'm sorry..." I blush slightly with embarrassment. "It's not every day I wind up crying on the beach only to be comforted by a stranger..."

"I see." He nods briefly. "Well, I can't very well leave you here in such a state, can I? Come on, let me buy you a drink from one of the stands and see what we can do about that 'stranger' part..." He offers his hand to help me up.

I try to smile in spite of the tears as I consider his offer.

"Why not. As I said, it's not every day I get this kind of treatment..." I take his hand and let him help me up. "By the way... What's you're name?" I'm curious as I brush the sand off my clothes.

"Marko." Again, he smiles at me.

"It's a nice name..." I take his hand once more as we walk back to the boardwalk.
