“I will not give up my mate!” Sh’lok roared at Sa’dar as
he paced back and forth in Kayla’s room. It has been over a week and they received
no word from the Jafren. Sh’lok looked out at the large odd figure knowing his
mate was over there, with Ga’gan. “Have they opened communication?” Sh’lok had
been trying to communicate with the Jafren since he docked, but they would not
reply.
“No, they have not.”
Sh’lok shook his head. “I am not going to hand her over to
him Sa’dar.”
“It is our rules
Sh’lok,” he spoke in a low tone. “If a mate returns from battle her current
mate is automatically given the title active mate and he must step down. She is
free to go back to him.”
“No,” he shook his head. “I will not loose her. I don’t
care if it is Sa’tesh‘s son, I will challenge him to keep Kayla and this time
his death will be permanent.”
“Please do not get angry Sh’lok,” Sa’dar walked closer to
him. “But as many problems you and Kayla have been having, what makes you think
she have not already made her decision? After all, he is there with her.”
Sh’lok didn’t answer him. He too thought the same thing. “Sa’tesh‘s ship is on
its way to this quadrant. We are told to follow Elder Chi’rayu.”
“Any word on your family?”
Lo’kesh questioned Su’tara as they ate. Another hunting party was due to leave,
but Su’tara asked him to stay. Whenever she started to pout he could not tell
her no.
“I talked to my father, he said everything was fine,” she
sighed. “I just have a funny feeling.”
“Do not worry,” he chuckled. “Your second father should be
here shortly.” Su’tara laughed, knowing he was talking about Ta’noj. He watched
her like a hawk since their parents been gone. He wanted her to wear a
communication device or tracking device, but Su’tara slammed him on the floor
before letting him know she could take care of herself.
“Su’tara, there is something I should tell you…” he begun.
“Hello Lo’kesh,” a female purred softly. She looked at
Su’tara and back to Lo’kesh. “Can you stimulate me?”
“No,” he replied in a stern voice. He remembered how rude
she was when he was an eta. Now that his hair held stories and he had respect
among his new peers more females wanted him. There was only one female that
held his heart and respect. Su’tara growled at her until she left.
“What is it you want to tell me?” she snapped. He trilled
softly from her jealously.
“Before your father left I asked him if I could mate with
you before the ritual,” he admitted.
“Lo’kesh,” Su’tara gasped. “Why would you do such a
thing?”
He scooted closer to her. “The memories you have of mating
can interrupt your ritual. I want you to be ready and willing for what I have
to offer. I do not want fear clouding your mind on such a joyous occasion.”
Su’tara eyes softened as she stared at him. “After slamming me against a wall
and holding a knife to my throat, he finally agreed.” He nuzzled her cheek with
his mandible until she smiled.
(The Jafren Ship)
Kayla stared at the ceiling. It was dark and the ceiling seemed
to sparkle like the stars outside her window. For the past few days the Jafren
only spoke to her about small things, her planet and how she came to live with
her clan. They even talked about the stars. They talked to Kayla in great
detail, but only when Ju’hi was present. Shra’van was cordial towards Ju'hi,
answering his questions about Ne’el and other members of his family. Shra’van
actually felt sorry for him. He couldn’t imagine not having his memories. Kayla
got up and wrapped her cloth around her body before walking over to the window.
She thought of Sh’lok. She loved him dearly, but she couldn’t get over the fact
that Lee’na was about to have his baby. She walked out her room and checked on
her son. He was sleeping soundly. She smiled as he suddenly growled in his
sleep. He can’t get a peace of mind even when he is asleep, Kayla
thought to herself as his door closed. She walked past Ju’hi‘s
room, but turned around. She stood there for a moment before pressing a button
to open the doors. He too was sleep. Kayla watched for a moment as he tossed
back and forth. When she turned around she heard him call her name softly.
Kayla turned around to look at him. When she walked closer
he was still asleep, but he said her name again. Her eyes grew wide when he
started to get an erection. She was frozen and couldn’t move. Her mind kept
screaming at her to leave the room, but her body begged her to stay. She
watched him intently as he said her name again with a moan. Kayla felt flush as
his erection was so hard it was touching his stomach. His scent was strong. She
closed her eyes and inhaled his scent. Kayla opened her eyes and slowly reached
for his mandible. She hesitated at first, feeling like a child who was about to
put her hand in a cookie jar. She touched his mandible softly. He moaned softly
and shifted positions.
Ju’hi opened his eyes and grabbed Kayla by the arms before
pushing her down on the bed. The sudden movement caused her to scream but he
quickly covered her mouth. When he felt her pulse thump at a normal pace he
released his hand and stared at her.
“I’m sorry for disturbing you,” she stammered. “I was
checking on my son and I thought I would check on you.” Ju’hi didn’t hear a
word she was saying. The only thing he could think about was his dream and how
he roughly mated with her. This time he had her hands tied and he was guiding
himself in-between her legs. It was tighter than anything he could possibly
imagine.
“Why did I tie you up during our mating?” Ju’hi didn’t
wait for her response. He held her hands above her head. Kayla laid there
staring at him. Ju’hi slowly crawled in between her legs. He groaned when she
opened them. “This was the position. And you were staring at me the way you are
now.”
“It was my first time with you,” Kayla whispered. “My, first time with a Yautja. I think I was gripping your
skin too tightly.” Her breathing deepened as she felt his naked hardness in
between her legs. Ju’hi was about to move her cloth, but she suddenly stopped
him.
“You are my mate Kayla,” he growled.
“Ju’hi,” she gave him a confused look.
“My name is, Ga’gan,” lust poured from his voice. It was
dark and raspy. Kayla looked at him nervously. She could see his eyes and they
were determined to have her. It was her first time hearing him call himself
Ga’gan and it only intensified the moment. It was Kayla’s mate.
“Sh’lok…”
“Do you know the rules to a mate coming back from a
battle?”
Kayla nodded her head yes. She read them since she
realized it was Ga’gan. She knew they had every right to be together, but for
her it still felt like betrayal. For a moment she questioned why females were
not able to have a second mate. She wanted her feelings to be validated. She
wanted Ga’gan. Kayla moaned loudly when he nipped her neck. It was still
powerful and painful. Ga’gan‘s method was always pain and pleasure. Sometimes
he would apply a great amount of pain before filling her up completely. He
gripped her neck tighter, while roughly opening her legs wider. Kayla tried to
muffle her scream. She suddenly thought of Sh’lok.
“No,” she snapped at him. He quickly released his grip on
her and she scurried off the bed. “We can’t Ga’gan. It is not fair to Na’lam
and Sh’lok.”
“I’ve listened to Lex children,” he was breathing heavy as
he stared at her. “I know he took on a second mate. I know it hurts you. You
threatened to kill me if I ever took on a second mate…”
“You remember?” she walked closer to him.
“I remember you,” He touched her face. “I remember
everything about you. Everything else is fuzzy. I remember your face and our
short time on the ship together. I remember our time in the room with the seba
tree and the first time I tasted your nectar. Please Kayla let me have you. I
want to taste you again.”
Kayla only dreamed of Sh’lok begging her. She wanted to
lie in Ga’gan’s arms and feel him inside her body. He inhaled and growled. Her
scent was heavy in the air. Kayla quickly left the room. Completely forgetting
she was on another species ship she left her quarters and walked down the dimly
lit halls.
“We scanned your memories Kayla,” she heard the smoothness
of Paul’s voice, but when she looked around she didn’t see anything. “Oh, sorry.” He appeared in front of her. “We know why you
are here and we need to talk to you alone.”
“Let me get dressed…”
“It is ok,” he nodded to her. “Please follow me.” They
sensed her nervousness.
“Make Kayla smile,” several of them said to him. He smiled
when he heard her giggle. He turned himself into a Centaur. She gasped as the
floor they were walking on suddenly became grass. Kayla looked around. Her
surroundings became bright.
“Is this real?” she looked around at the tall trees. The
grass felt cool on her bare feet. The sun felt warm on her back and she
couldn’t help but to smile.
“What is real and what is an illusion?” Paul questioned as
he turned to look at her. “Are you pleased?”
“Thank you,” Kayla nodded. He nodded in return. They
walked for a while until they came to an opening. It was a beach.
“We assumed you have not seen a large body of water in
quite some time,” he explained. Others stared to appear in front of them. Kayla
looked around and nodded at them. For a moment she felt overwhelmed. When she
sat down in the sand they looked at each other before doing the same.
“Kayla we know this mission has been planned for many
years,” one of the Yautja said to her. “You were against it at first and after
meeting us you are even more against it now.”
“You wish to obtain some of our technology,” Paul said to
her as he turned back into his human form.
“But you have a request,” a female sat closer to her and
pushed Kayla’s hair from her shoulder. “We accept.”
Paul answered her confused look. “We scanned your mind.”
“I never told the others,” Kayla said softly. “I fear we
are not ready for technology like this. They still hunt, we still hunt. Having
technology that can make illusions would be detrimental to any species that
can’t use it properly.” When Kayla said it out loud she felt like she was
betraying her clan. “You know we have been attacked several times in the past
due to some clans not agreeing with having an ooman as an equal and a leader.”
“We will help you build a better defense system,” Paul
assured her. “Weapon upgrades are of no problem. They are lucky to have you.”
“We are willing to share this with you because they have
made an effort to accept you into their species. Your daughter is beautiful.
Her children will look just as beautiful someday…”
“And Shra’van will be a great leader, so do not worry
about him. He will please you greatly. Just remind him, when the time comes he has
to defend his family at any costs.”
“You mean Ta’noj,” Kayla smiled.
“No,” the female shook her head. “Ta’noj, your little one
for now will be a great hunter. He will forever be known for his many kills.”
Kayla gave her a skeptical look.
“That is hard to believe. How do you know this?”
“How do we not know?” she smiled.
“So you knew I was
ooman when we first talked?”
The female nodded yes. “Time and situations have to play
themselves out Kayla. We could not interfere in the Yautja’s plans.”
“We now need something from you,” the Yautja said to her.
“Our species is dying. We are having problems reproducing even with our
technology. We need some of your eggs.” Kayla looked at all of them in
surprise.
“What bout Lex…”
“Her supply is dwindling,” Paul explained. “We scanned her
body when you arrived and she will only be able to have several more children.
You are younger than her and your supply is plentiful. Your species dna is closer to our own. We can
alter your eggs.”
Kayla thought for a moment. She was able to help a
peaceful species live. Sa’tesh would prefer to see them dead so he could steal
the technology from them. She wondered if any of them would look like her. Or
would she ever be able to see them again. “I will help you under one
condition.” They looked at each other then back to her. “I would like to see
what you look like.”
“No,” Paul objected in a stern voice. Kayla watched as
they stared at each other like they were talking, but no one lips were moving.
“Why does appearance mean so much to you Kayla?” the
female questioned as she touched Kayla’s shoulder. “You are asking us the wrong
question.”
“You are everything, yet you are nothing,” Kayla trembled
as the words came out. The female nodded to her. She placed her hand on Kayla’s
stomach and Kayla watched as the female hand went inside her body. Kayla felt
nothing but she gasped as she watched closely. The female held her fist
clinched as she pulled her hand out. Kayla stared at her in amazement.
“Thank you,” she looked at the others and they nodded.
“Oh my God,” Kayla whispered as thousands of tiny holes
appeared on everyone’s body before a bright light burst from the holes. Kayla‘s
head went up towards the sky as they floated above her. They smiled as their
white wings expanded. From tip to tip they were at least seven feet across.
Kayla could distinguish the difference between the males and the females. The
only thing Kayla could think of to describe them were angelic entities, like
their voices. “I have never seen anything more beautiful before in my life.”
The glow around their bodies filled the sky like a bright light. Kayla started
to feel faint.
“Mother,” Shra’van shook Kayla softly. She jumped and
looked at him before giving him a hug. Shra’van growled at her, but Kayla
didn’t care. “Please, let me go.”
Kayla pulled away and looked at him before looking at her
surroundings. “Where are we?”
“On the Jafren ship,” he tilted his head to the side. “You
should be packing. We are leaving.”
“Why?”
“Because they said we can go?” he questioned as if she was
quizzing him. “Are you feeling well?”
“How did I get here?” Kayla looked at him. The last thing
she remembered was looking up at angles floating above her. Shra’van left the
room. A moment later he came back with Ga’gan.
“Are you feeling well Kayla?” he held her head and looked
into her eyes. “Your pupils are slightly dilated. We should get you back to the
ship.” Kayla shook it off as a dream, as she stood up slowly. She still had her
cloth on.
She walked back slowly towards the ship. Lex and her
family were already on board. Paul was there to see her off. As he turned to her
and smiled, Kayla wondered if she would ever see them again.
“Of course you will,” he nodded.
“Do not lie to her Paul,” they said to him.
“She can not know of her fate,” he thought back.
“Warn her,” they demanded.
Paul touched her shoulder. “Kayla you will come across a
great battle on the Yautja planet. You must not give up. It is detrimental to
our future plans …”
“Enough!” they yelled at him. Kayla tilted her head to the
side. She was completely confused.
“Please make sure Shra’van take good care of his
brothers,” Paul nodded. “Especially Ta’noj.”
“Ok,” she nodded. “Wait, brothers?” Paul smiled at her.
Kayla touched her stomach as she thought back to her
dream. “Thank you again for helping us. It was not a dream. Everything you need
has been placed on your ship and transported to the several ships that await
you.” He stepped closer to her. “Did you have enough time with Ga’gan?”
“Yes, thank you.” Kayla smiled at him before shaking his
shoulder.
“One more request,” he thought for a moment and gave her a
tablet. “This is the coordinates to a planet that the Yautja hunt on
frequently. Encourage them to not hunt there again. We have talked to a queen
kainde amedha…”
“They talk?”
“Everyone talks Kayla,” he smiled at her innocence. “She
wishes to live peacefully with her young. The others enjoy the fight.”
“I will talk to the other elders about this. You have my
word.”
“I know we do,” Paul smiled at her again. “Farewell for
now…”
“Tell her about Lo’kesh…”
“Kayla,” she turned back around and Paul walked up to her.
“We are only telling you this because your daughter needs him in her life right
now… next month, do not allow Lo’kesh to hunt.”
Kayla nodded. She didn’t question why. She hesitated
before getting on the ship. When she turned back around they were all gone.
Kayla watched Scar talk to Ga’gan with great concern. “What is wrong?”
Lex walked over to them. Scar looked at both the females.
“We need to leave now,” he growled. “Time and space is different in their
realm. We have been here for two months.”
“That’s impossible,” Lex said. “I was counting. It has
only been a week.”
“Two months,” Ga’gan corrected them. “Our computers are
accurate.”
When they broke from the Jafren barrier the new ship and
Sa’tesh‘s ship was next to Lex’s ship. All the while they were looking at an
illusion. She had never seen the other two ships. Kayla looked through the
other window to see the Jafren shimmer into nothing. “So they are gone just
like that?”
“Yes,” Scar replied.
“Kayla I must talk to you,” Ga’gan said as he tugged at her
dress.
She walked with him until they were out of hearing
distance from everyone. “I still want you.”
“Ga’gan,” Kayla looked at him for a moment. “So last night
was not a dream?”
“You mean when you were in my room and I was about to take
you? No.”
“I do not have an answer for you,” she looked away from
him. “I must speak with Sh’lok.”
“He has nothing to do with this decision,” he growled. “I
have every right to take you as my mate.”
“The Ga’gan I once knew would respect my decision,” Kayla
crossed her arms and watched as the ship came into the docking port.
“I still cannot believe she did it,” Sa’tesh smiled at
Chi’rayu. “Our defense systems and weapons will be upgraded immediately.” Many
guards and warriors wanted to greet them. Once the word went out on what was
happening a lot of Yautja’s could not wait to congratulate the ooman who made
it possible.
“You must calm down,” Sa’dar whispered in Sh’lok‘s ear as
he continued to pace back and forth. Ga’gan’s entire family was on the ports
waiting for him. Su’tara and Ta’noj waited patiently for their mother as they
stood next to Nam’rah.
“Are you excited to see your father for the first time?”
Nam’rah questioned Su’tara.
“No.”
Nam’rah gave her a skeptical look until the doors to the
ship opened. They were all greeted with a thunderous roar.
“I think you made the clans happy Mother,” Shra’van shook
her shoulder before walking off with Em’mi. Ta’noj and Su’tara looked at one
another in shock. Kayla watched for a moment how Lee’na rubbed her stomach. She
was already showing.
“Is that her?” Lex questioned as they both looked at her.
“Yeah.” When Lee’na looked at
Kayla she nodded towards her. Kayla did the same. “I have no problems with
Lee’na. She and I are cool. It is my mate I am irritated with.”
Ga’gan stepped off the ship slowly. He immediately noticed
Nam’rah. He knew it was his mother. He looked at Ne’el and nodded. He felt a
strong bond with him. He knew he could tell Ne’el anything. Ga’gan noticed
Kul’vir and his blood started to boil. He ran over and punched him in the nose.
Kayla covered her mouth as he roared at him. “I never gave you permission to
finish!”
“It was an accident!” Kul’vir yelled at him. Nam’rah knew
exactly what they were talking about, but everyone else was clueless. Ga’gan
didn’t hear him because he turned to look at Sh’lok. He stared at him just as
angrily.
“I’m taking my mate back boy!” Ga’gan snarled.
“Then I challenge you,” Sh’lok tried to step closer, but
Sa’dar and Ba’naj stood in front of them.
“No!” They turned to look at Kayla. She stared at both of
them. “Right about now I don’t want either one of you! I came to this ship to
visit Lex and bond with my son. And damn if I’m not going to finish what I
started. You two can go to hell for all I care!” Kayla stormed off with Ta’noj
and Su’tara following her.
“Su’tara?” She turned around to see Ga’gan staring at her.
With out acknowledging him she turned back around and followed her mother.
