Happy new year. Thanks to everybody who reviewed. I would have liked
to respond personally to each of you, but this has to be a quick
update, since my nephew stands next to me and wants to 'help' with my
writing. So any mistakes in this chapter are probably his fault.
Chapter 19 – (Un)finished business
The sensation of falling was taking over his body as they rushed
down to hell. Flames and fire raged around them, igniting Chas' wings
and burning them away in the flash of a second. John was fascinated
with the glow of falling and burning feathers, while a shocked look
spread over Chas' face.
It seemed like the angel had finally realized that he had been
betrayed by his trusted mentor, a man he had adored and been in love
with for a long time. But that was nothing John cared about. He was
looking forward to the look on Lucifer's face, when he presented his
gift.
Then their journey was at it's ending as they collided with the
ground, John on his feet and Chas painfully landing on his back. The
impact seemed to have woken the angel from his shocked trance, since
he finally found his voice again. “John, why...I thought
you...”
His only answer was laughter, since John wasn't given the chance
to speak. Lucifer had suddenly appeared at his back, a pleased
expression spread over his features as his hands roamed over John's
body. The angel had no choice but to watch John tip back his head,
meeting Lucifer's mouth in a fierce, passionate kiss. He had to watch
Lu's hands stroking John's hardened cock through his pants, while he
whispered in the former exorcist's ear.
Jealousy and hate burned in his heart, almost overshadowing the
betrayal he felt. He had trusted John, had wanted to save him from
Lucifer's clutches. And what was his reward? He was damned now
sentenced to an eternity of burning agony.
Chas had barely finished his thought when Lucifer's and John's
faces suddenly blurred in front of him, their smug grins the only
thing he remembered before the pain set in.

John looked at the space Chas had just disappeared from, for a
second ignoring the attention Lu paid to his body. It was true that
he had enjoyed making the angel fall and yet he felt the slightest
shimmer of regret. Forcing the feeling to the back of his mind he
concentrated on the burning sensation of Lu's tongue on his throat, a
moan pushing past his lips.
“I take it you like my gift.” The smugness was only
erased from his voice as Lucifer bit down on his throat, teeth
sinking into his skin as a trickle of blood oozed into Lucifer's
mouth.
Then he was turned around in the Devil's embrace their mouths
meeting in a hungry kiss. John could taste his own blood as their
tongues rubbed together in a sensual caress, heightening his passion.
Chas had felt good, but there was nothing like the fire burning
inside of him whenever Lu touched him. He would never have admitted
it, but these were the moments that he understood that he truly
belonged to the Devil. No matter how much he wanted to, he would
never be strong enough to resist this seduction.
Lu chuckled in his ear as he voiced his pleasure in a low groan.
“Very good, John. I see you finally get a hang on your power.”
His hand had slipped into John's pants, stroking his consort's
erection and bringing him closer to climax. Swiping away a drop of
pre-cum with his thumb he let his hand slide down again, suddenly
gripping the base of John's cock firmly.
Pleasure mixing with pain would have been enough to tip him over
the edge, if Lu's hand hadn't kept him from coming. Mumbling a few
breathy protests John tried to get Lucifer to continue his
ministrations, but the Devil stayed stubbornly still.
“Tsk, tsk, tsk, John. So needy. There is something I need
you to do for me before I have time to play with you.” Cursing
internally John tried to focus on the job Lu whispered in his ear,
but the warm gusts of air feathering over his ear kept distracting
him.
Suddenly a loss of warmth on his back and Lu was gone. Again. And
he hadn't come yet. Again. Wondering why he was putting up with Lu's
games John lit himself a cigarette, ignoring the voice in his mind,
that told him that he needed it. Yeah, sure. He needed to be
permanently unsatisfied almost as much as he needed help from God.
Really.

John was in a foul mood as he walked down the street, heading in
the direction of his mother's flat. It was true that Lucifer had
ordered him to do something else, but for the moment he was too
pissed off to do the Devil's biding.
It was time to vent off some anger first and who better to vent it
on than his dear family. Maybe he would finally manage to drive his
mother to insanity. Arriving at the apartment
he found his mother alone, unawares of his ghostly self hovering
behind her. Searching her mind John found her still shaken from his
nephew's possession, the belief in demons now firmly planted in her
mind. He could also find memories of his brother's proposal to send
her to a mental institution.
She wasn't really mad yet, but she was already teetering
on the brink of insanity. It wouldn't take much to push her over.
Gathering his demonic powers he called out to the demons, commanding
thee of them to his side.
Almost instantly they appeared, obeying his command and calmly
waiting at his feet. John could feel their evil presence, absorbing
it and strengthening himself a little more. It was fascinating how
the presence of evil served to make evil things more powerful, a
spiral of doom hard to break for anyone but the most powerful of
exorcists. The thought sent a grin to his face. Usually a powerful
exorcist would fight evil, but now one was causing it.
His mother, still blissfully unawares of the terrors now present
in her flat, was puttering around in the kitchen, preparing a meal
for her precious family. Time to make her see what he had always been
forced to recognize, to drive her into the same insanity she had
always believed him to have.
It was the scratch of a claw on the smooth surface of her tiled
floor, that alerted her to the demons'
presence, but it was enough to cause her to whirl
around in a second. The scream that tore from her throat was the
sweetest music to Constantine's ears, his demonic nature soaking up
the aura of fear she emitted. Fear that only made him stronger and
drew the demon's closer.
Smirking as he lit himself another cigarette John commanded the
demons to advance on her, but not to attack. He didn't want her hurt
or dead. Death was too easy an escape if one went up to heaven and he
couldn't allow her to get away. Not before she had had the full
experience of the treatment someone who was believed to be insane
got.
His mother had gripped a knife, holding it in front of her to ward
the demons off, muttering prayers under her breath. As if her weak
spiritual mind was any kind of match for the power of Lucifer's
second-in-command. Ridiculous, but amusing none-the-less.
And it would get even better, since a key turning in the lock
signaled his brother's arrival.

As soon as John heard Matthew's voice calling out for his mother
he told the demons to vanish. They were gone leaving his mother
shaking in fear and trying to gather herself together again.
Obviously she believed that the horror had passed for the moment and
would leave her alone. The same fool she always had been.
When Matthew and his wife entered the kitchen she started
screaming again, although there was no obvious reason to do so.
Puzzled John's brother exchanged a look with his wife, before
advancing on his mother.
Had he know what John's powers caused her to see Matthew would
have stopped in his tracks and not gone towards her. In her clouded
vision his and his wife's face had turned into demonic visages, evil
and fire shining out of their eyes. Talons they didn't have in
reality scraped over the floor, while their
imaginary wings stretched behind them.
An anguished cry was the only warning Matthew got before his
mother leaped at him, the knife firmly encased in her hand. Lashing
out with her knife she managed to hit his arm, before he wrestled it
from her grasp, shocked and scared because of her actions. His
struggling mother in his arms Matthew turned
to his wife for advice, who was as pale as chalk.
“We have to put her in a mental hospital. She's insane.”
These words did little to calm his mother, only increasing her
fighting and struggling as she tried to bite his arms. Smiling John
turned around and left his family to sort out their little drama.

His victory over his mother brightening his mood John turned his
attention to the task Lucifer had give him. It was simple really. All
he needed to do was kill an exorcist, someone who obviously had
enough potential to endanger some projects Lu had invested in.
A simple plan had already formed in his mind, so he now needed to
find the young exorcist. There was only one place to go if you
searched for someone who knew the demon world, so John vanished and
appeared right beside Midnite's club.
Lighting himself a cigarette John strode towards the bouncer,
disinterestedly answering his question. The club was as full as
always, loud music hammering in his ears as he let his gaze travel
over the gyrating bodies of angels and demons on the dance floor. A
few scattered humans were also amongst them, but he couldn't spot the
exorcist he had been looking for.
Assuming that Midnite would know where to find his target John
strode towards the back door, feeling the
glances of demon's and angel's follow him. Where the looks of the
hellish minions were filled with appreciation, those of heaven's
half-breeds were full of fear and apprehension.
Enjoying the boost this attention gave his ego John easily walked
towards Midnite's door, while the other guests tried to get out of
his way.
Even Midnite seemed to want to please him today, since his door
opened before John had completely reached it. Stepping into the
voodoo priest's room John's nose was immediately assaulted by the
smell of old bones and chicken blood. It had been a while since
Midnite had last contacted his gods, but John still remembered that
it was better to not interrupt him while he did. Sinking down into
one of the chairs the former exorcist lit himself a cigarette,
waiting for Midnite to appear.
