Please review….
Shra’van continuously grunted on the way to the ship until
Sh’lok smacked his head. Sh’lok and Shra’van walked on the ship first. He
watched his son in amazement as he pushed the controls to ready the ship. He seemed
to have done it before. Sh’lok nodded his head and turned to look at Kayla.
“You and I will be alright,” he caressed her cheek softly before lifting her up
to eye level.
“I’m sorry for my words Sh’lok,” Kayla spoke in a soft
tone. “I never wish to leave…”
“I know,” he nodded before putting her down. “Let me have
a moment with Shra’van.” Kayla kissed his cheek before going to unpack her
things.
Shra’van checked to see if she was out of hearing distance
and quickly turned to his father. “What am I supposed to say and do with her
for a week?” he growled.
“You can learn how to fight better,” Sh’lok chuckled as he
pointed to the bruises on his body. “She is your mother Shra’van. You will
learn to respect her. You will listen and if you get out of line she will beat
you.”
When Kayla walked out of the room Shra’van was closing the
doors. He turned to glance at her.
“I am about to take off so you may want to strap yourself
in,” he grunted. Kayla sat next to him and buckled up. She could tell he was
slightly nervous. His take off was far slower than everyone else. After a while
he put the ship on auto pilot and stood up.
“Are you hungry?” Kayla questioned as she walked towards
the kitchen.
“If you cook I will eat,” he replied in a flat tone before
walking towards the sparring hall. Kayla gave him a few hours alone before
walking into the sparring hall with some snacks and water. She sat everything
on the table and was about to walk out. “You did not have to humiliate me in
front of everyone.”
Kayla turned to look at him. “You didn’t think I knew how
to fight, remember? You humiliate me every time you look at me like I’m your
enemy.”
“Then you kissed me to add to my humiliation,” he growled.
“Hydrate yourself.”
Shra’van grunted, but didn’t object as he picked up the
water.
“You are doing a great job at piloting the ship. I’m proud
of you.”
When she turned to walk away she didn’t expect what came
next. “Thank you.”
They didn’t eat with one another for days. When Kayla sat
some food out, she would notice it slowly disappearing. She watched as he
continuously monitored the ship day and night. He would sometimes fall asleep
in the pilot seat. He never had much to say to her, but Kayla didn’t expect him
to change overnight. She did notice he said please and thank you more often. He
walked into the meal area, but didn’t expect to see his mother sitting there
reading a tablet. “Shra’van, sit with me,” Kayla nodded towards the seat in
front of her. She sat her tablet down and looked at him. She waited for her son
to start eating before she spoke to him. “How do you like piloting the ship?”
“It is enjoyable,” he nodded. “Thank you for giving me the
experience.”
“When you were younger you were teased a lot about me
weren’t you?”
“Of course.” He continued to eat.
“Was it almost shameful having an ooman as a mother?” she
rested her hand on her head as she ate a piece of his meat. He growled, like
Sh’lok, but continued to eat.
He nodded instead of answering her. “But now that I’m
older…” he paused for a moment. “I guess you are not so bad. Kul’vir said I
should give you a chance.”
“When did he say this?”
“When I was in the medical lab.”
“I am sorry for humiliating you,” Kayla spoke softly. “My
anger should not have been completely directed towards you.”
He looked as though he wanted to say something to her, but
couldn’t get the words out. “Have you ever thought of having mandibles
surgically implanted?” he blurted.
Kayla looked at him like he lost his mind. “Have you ever
thought of removing yours?”
“Of course not.” He ate for a
moment, not looking at her. “Why do you show favoritism towards Ta’noj and
Su’tara?”
“You and I stopped
getting along when you started listening to the opinions of your friends,”
Kayla sighed. “Ta’noj and Su’tara do not care what others think. They respect
me as their mother. They do not challenge me and I don’t have to earn their
respect.” Kayla stood up and walked over to him. She lifted his head up so he
would look at her. “You are a young male. If I have to earn your respect then,
fine. I am willing to do such, but you have to do the same because sometimes I
am ashamed of having a son like you.” Shra’van watched her go into her room and
close the door.
Kayla couldn’t sleep.
All she thought about was her son. She smiled when she thought about how
loveable he once was, like Ta’noj. His eyes were always bright and he liked to
joke around. He started to change when the other kids started to tease him.
Kayla got dressed and went to the training room. She watched for a moment as
her son tried to imitate a move she done on him. She coughed so he could look
up.
“Let me know when you are done so I can practice,” Kayla
nodded.
“Mother,” Shra’van was out of breath. Kayla turned to look
at him. He stared at her for a moment. Kayla walked closer to him.
“When you see your opponents attack coming in your stance
you roll to the left or right,” she said. Kayla drew up her sticks and
attempted to attack him. He dropped and rolled to maneuver his body behind
hers. “Very good.”
“I have been trying to figure that out for the past few
days,” he chuckled. “Thank you.”
“You’re welcome,” she nodded.
He stopped her from leaving. “Mother, did you really drop
me?”
“No,” Kayla laughed. He grunted at her hardy laugh. “It’s
just a figure of speech. Though Su’tara did fall out of the bed once, but she
was ok. Don’t tell her.” She stared at her son for a moment. “Goodnight.”
“Would you like to stay and spar with me?” he blurted.
“I would like that very much Shra’van,” Kayla smiled. That
night she was able to teach him a few things. It amazed her that he took the
time to listen to her. She watched his eyes light up when he pinned her. It
reminded her of Sh’lok.
“I would like to learn more from you,” he said to her as
they packed. They were close to Lex’s ship.
“You will Shra’van.” She never thought she would hear him
say such a thing to her. Though it was an informal visit, since she was now the
leader of a new ship they had to wear their emerald green cloaks. The color
represented leadership and since Shra’van was her son he too wore the same
thing. He stood tall as he put it on. It went perfectly with his eyes. Kayla
sat next to him as he bought the ship into the landing docks.
(Sh’lok’s Ship)
Su’tara heard about Lo’kesh party landing. She wasted no
time going to see him. When he answered the door Su’tara looked at his shoulder
as he nursed a wound. “What happened?” She walked in and placed the plant on
his dresser before turning around.
“Just a little burn,” he shrugged his shoulders. “I am
fine. I was just changing the bandage.” Su’tara took off the towel and replaced
the bandage for him. “I missed you Su’tara.”
She trilled softy before looking away from his wanting
eyes. “I am glad you are ok. How many kills?”
“Seven,” he tapped his chest and they both laughed.
Su’tara stepped closer to him before rubbing her cheek against his. Lo’kesh
closed his eyes as her arms went around his body. He slowly wrapped her in his
arms. “I need to shower.” He hesitated before letting her go and walked to the
bathroom. “Will you wait for me?” he yelled over the running water. “I am
famished.”
“Lo’kesh, there is something I have to do,” Su’tara
stammered. She walked into the bathroom.
“Well if you wait a moment I will walk you.” He quickly
turned around as the shower door closed. Su’tara stood in front of him naked.
“What are you doing?”
“Whenever I think of being with you I think of what
happened,” she explained as she felt on his chest. “I don’t want that to scare
me for the rest of my life…” He touched her waist as he stared into her eyes.
“What if I can never move on?”
“Tell me when to stop,” he growled at her. Su’tara nodded
as he bent down and grazed his mandibles on her wet skin. Lo’kesh understood
her concern. He was afraid during the ritual she would suddenly decide against
it or start to think of Kon’kan. He didn’t want that special moment ruined with
her memories of the last time she opened her legs. He slowly nipped on her
shoulders. Feeling her soft body against his turned him on quicker than he
expected. As he went lower Lo’kesh was prepared to stop as soon as she said the
words. The shower hit her body as he opened her legs slowly. Su’tara let out a
loud moan and shivered when she felt his tongue. When he reached a place it had
never been before she started to think of Kon’kan. “Stop,” she panted.
“Ok,” he stood up and wrapped his arms around her. “Are
you ok?”
“You just reminded me that I had no barrier,” she said
softly. She felt his erection pressed again her body and she stepped back.
“That means nothing to me,” he groaned in her ear. “You
still taste unbelievable.” Su’tara smiled at him.
“I have an idea,” he stepped out of the shower and dried
her body before drying himself. Lo’kesh locked the door to his quarters before
pulling the covers back on the bed. “I want you to lie down.” Su’tara nodded
and laid down on the bed. He laid
next to her and held her tight.
“Now what?” she questioned him after a moment
“Nothing,” he chuckled.
(The Gro’thon-ious
Ship)
Kayla hugged each one of Lex’s children. They knew her
well and referred to her as their aunt. Shra’van tried not to stare at one of
her older daughters, but to him, her eyes were beautiful. She looked a lot like
his sister when it came to the girl features. He thought it was a pity, though
her eyes were worth staring at.
“I have not seen you in some time Shra’van,” Scar growled
a friendly greeting as he shook his shoulder. “Allow my sons to show you to
your quarters.” Kayla looked at him. She let out a small gasp when he walked to
her and touched her cheek with his. It was short and quick, but nonetheless he
touched her.
“I will see you shortly Mother,” he nodded before turning
around.
She looked at Lex, whom started to laugh. It surprised
Kayla to be greeted by the elder and his mates on the ship. They never met her
before, though they knew of her. Since Kayla was the leader of the new ship it
was a formality to meet other leaders and have them
spend their first evening meal together. Kayla gladly accepted. Lex’s daughters
went about there normal business as Kayla and Lex walked to her temporary
quarters. “Are you doing better?” Lex questioned in concern as they walked
slowly.
“My son and I are getting along for the first time in over
ten years,” Kayla nodded. “That is my reason for being happy at the moment.”
“Kayla,” Lex’s older son walked up to her. “My friend,
Ju’hi would like to meet you.” Lex and Kayla stopped. Kayla looked at him in a
curious manner.
“Why?” Kayla shook her head. “I have a mate.”
“So does he,” he chuckled. “He had
never met an ooman before besides my mother. He is curious about how you look.”
“He never hunted on Earth?”
“It’s a long story,” Lex said softly. “I will tell you
tonight.”
“Ok Rua’khe,” Kayla nodded to him.
“Come to her quarters with him,” Lex purred at her son.
She smiled as they walked into the room. “Yes it is bigger
because someone is a leader now,” Lex teased.
“It’s huge,” Kayla
laughed as she sat her bags down. The com buzzed and Lex pressed her hand on
the wall. The doors opened slowly. Rua’khe walked in and his friend was behind
him. Kayla stared at him, not hearing anything Rua’khe was saying. She tilted
her head to the side and frowned at him before fainting.
“What happened?” Kayla looked over at Lex.
“You looked at Ju’hi and fainted,” Lex said with concern.
Ju’hi walked into the room as soon as he heard Kayla’s voice.
“I know you,” he growled at her. “Please tell me how I
know you?” he looked at her with a worried look on his face. His past was a
blank to him. He remembered a female and her laugh, but that was all. Her laugh
used to haunt his dreams for years until he met his mate. Even now, he still
hears her laugh every once in a while.
Kayla couldn’t answer as she stared at him.
“Did I do something wrong?” Ju’hi looked over at Rua’khe.
“Does she understand our language?”
“It’s impossible,” Kayla looked at Lex before looking back
at Ju’hi. “You do not know me?” Kayla stood up and looked at him. She could
never forget his eyes. It was the same softness that she craved to see in
Maha’vin eyes. His stance was the same and his voice was deep and rich. “I, I
never seen you before when I visit,” Kayla looked at Lex. “What the hell Lex.”
“I may have been on a hunt,” he explained. “I go as often
as I can.”
“Are you ok?” Kayla walked closer to him and touched his
face. “You always hunt when you are stressed.” He stepped away from her. No one
else knew that, but his mate.
“Who do you think he is?” she stood closer to Kayla.
“It’s Ga’gan.” When Kayla said the words out loud she felt
a shiver go down her body.
“I thought your past mate died,” Rua’khe questioned
softly.
“He’s not dead,” Kayla argued. “He is standing in front of
me!”
“Kayla, maybe you are tired from your trip,” Lex spoke
softly.
“Turn around and lift up your cloth,” Kayla demanded. “You
have a claw mark on your butt.” Ju’hi growled at her, but Kayla ignored him.
“Look at your arm! This mark you received on your first hunt. And on your
shoulder is where I marked you the first time we mated. Ga’gan!” Kayla turned
to look at Lex. “What the fuck is going on?”
“Maybe we should go,” Ju’hi nodded to her and quickly left.
“No, don’t go,” Kayla was about to run after him, but
Rua’khe held her arm.
“Are you certain that is Ga’gan?” Rua’khe growled.
Kayla sat down. Lex could tell she was shaken up. Kayla
explained what happened to Ga’gan, again. She never liked talking about it and
she could only tell them what Ne’el told her.
“We named him Ju’hi because he did not remember his name,”
Rua’khe explained. He told her how a hunting group went to a planet and before
they arrived they saw a small hunting ship drifting. Ju’hi was the only one
aboard and he was barely alive. The ship they found him on could hardly sustain
life. Everything was offline or destroyed and there were no signs of a log.
They destroyed the ship immediately after saving him. He laid unconscious in their medical lab for
over a year. When he woke up he didn’t know who he was or how he got onto the
ship. There were no signs on his body of belonging to a clan and his body was
burned due to an unknown blast. His hair was burned and there were no signs of
any rings so he stayed on their ship and became a part of their clan.
“It’s Ga’gan,” Kayla wiped her tears. “His brother said he
used his destruction device.”
“Rua’khe,” Lex touched his arm. “What if it is Ga’gan?”
“Then we will inform his family and see how he feels about
meeting them,” he nodded. “If it is your Ga’gan then you have
to understand that he has a mate and children now, like you.”
“He remembered me,” she looked at Lex. “You heard him.”
They looked back up when Ju’hi walked back in.
“Laugh for me,” he demanded.
“You can’t demand someone to laugh,” Kayla shook her head
walking towards him. She wanted to throw her arms around him, but she was
afraid he would leave again.
He tilted his head to the side. “Well how do you make
yourself laugh?”
“Why do you need to hear me laugh?”
“A laugh has haunted my dreams for many years,” he
admitted staring at her. For a moment they were the only ones in the room.
Kayla completely forgot about Rua’khe and Lex.
“I will sing in English for you,” Rua’khe announced. Kayla
looked at him and just the thought made her laugh. Ju’hi gasped before turning
her back around.
“How do you know me?” he gripped her arms. “We were close,
you and I.”
“I was your mate,” Kayla said softly. “You have brothers
and sisters. Do you remember your brother Ne’el? Or your Uncle Maha’vin…”
“That name angers me,” he growled. Kayla couldn’t help
herself any longer. She held him tight. After a moment he pushed her away.
“I know your scent,” he leaned down and sniffed her neck
softly. “It is so calming and familiar.”
“A d.n.a. test must be
performed,” Rua’khe walked over to them. He noticed his friend was having a
hard time taking his eyes off of Kayla.
“I can not call you Ju’hi when I know your name is
Ga’gan,” Kayla said.
“My name is Ju’hi,” he growled at her. If he normally
growled at a female she would immediately look away. Kayla stared at him as if
he just coughed. When he looked into her eyes he felt like he had been looking
at them forever.
“You both have mates,” Lex frowned as she watched them.
They quickly looked away.
Ju’hi was about to walk away, but he turned back around
and looked at her. “You were hurt. Someone hurt you, physically. Was it this
Maha’vin?”
Kayla nodded her head yes.
“Did I kill him?”
“He is your Uncle,” Kayla told him. “I begged you not to.”
“Will you tell me of this story in the near future?” he
gave her that stare that melted her heart when she first ran into him.
“I will tell you anything you want,” Kayla nodded. When he
touched her face he immediately smelled her scent getting stronger. It was so
soothing. He recognized it and wanted to savor the tantalizing female musk.
“Mother is right,” Rua’khe growled as soon as he picked up
on Kayla's scent. He removed his hand and nodded towards her before walking out
with Rua’khe.
Kayla turned to look at her friend. “Lex, what will happen
now?”
“Have your feelings returned that quickly?” Lex stared at
her. “Or did they ever go away?”
Kayla sat next to her and Lex rubbed on her back softly.
“It’s ok Kayla. You don’t have to answer.”
“I just don’t know how.”
“I saw you looking at my sister,” Bra’non chuckled. “She
does not have a mate if you are interested.”
Shra’van looked at him and grunted before turning back
around to unpack. “She is ooman.”
“So are you, you idiot,”
Bra’non growled. “I am as well. What does that have to do with anything?”
Shra’van didn’t say anything at first. He carefully put
his bag away. Like his father, he placed daggers that were carefully hidden on
his body before leaving his ship. He didn’t want to have to use them so soon.
Shra’van sat down and Bra’non sat in front of him. “Does it not bother you that
you are part of this species that we are taught to kill?”
“I was taught to kill anything that looks like a threat or
challenge, ooman or not,” Bra’non sat up straighter. “My brothers have hunted
on the planet and my mother is completely understanding about it. I too shall
go soon.”
“You are too young.”
“Have you not noticed that we have an advantage?” he sat
closer to Shra’van, whom crossed his arms and waited for him to continue. “The
ooman part of our brain has the ability to learn quicker and absorb the
information as early as birth. It is the same for my sisters. We are wiser. The
powerful Yautja part gives us our keen sense to remember and process
information quicker. I am, by far, better than anyone
my age on this ship. I speak several languages from our mother’s planet and a
few other species. I can even have my pick of any female I want. Being mixed
with both species has its advantages.”
Shra’van tilted his head to the side. “I did not know
this.” He thought for a moment. He knew he was smarter than other males, but he
figured they were a little slow. He remembered the trainers wondering how he
was able to remember the new techniques so well. “Tell me more.”
“Ga’gan,” Ju’hi said aloud as he walked into his quarters.
His mate looked at him. “Did you say something?”
“My name may be Ga’gan,” he walked over to her. “Now that
I say it out loud it sounds so familiar. Ga’gan.”
“It is a nice name Ju’hi,” she nodded. “But what makes you
think this is your name? Are you starting to remember something?”
He thought of Kayla and waved his hand for her to sit.
“Na’lam, there is something I must tell you. Then there is something I must
ask.” She nodded for him to continue. He told her about everything that
happened since he met Kayla. Na’lam could see the excitement in his eyes every
time he said the female’s name.
“She is the reason you can not hunt on that planet?”
Na’lam questioned.
“I think so,” he nodded.
“So what is it you wish to ask of me?” she looked at him
nervously. He sensed her nervousness and stroked her hand before caressing her
cheek gently.
“I wish to spend more time with her,” he said slowly. “I
want to get to know her. I want to find out about me.” Na’lam gave him a weary
look. “Na’lam you will always be my mate. I adore you. You helped your father
in the medical lab. You looked over me. I owe the rest of my life to you, but I
need to find out who I am. Remember the laugh I told you about? It is hers,
Kayla.”
“Do we have to go to this other ship?” she questioned. “To
the ones, who may be your family? I have heard about that clan. They are not
very peaceful towards others. They stay to themselves and always have a hidden
agenda. I am surprised they befriended an ooman.” She looked at her mate, but
he was lost in his own thoughts. “Ju’hi?”
“I must go lie down,” he said softly, “My head is aching.
Since meeting her I hear voices, but I do not understand them.”
“Maybe we should go see my father,” she stood up. He waved
his hands and shook his head no before walking to the bedroom.
