“I have prepared something to honour
your new position, Elder Tu’shar,” Joi’en slurred.
“Don’t you mean your new position,” Navin countered, flicking his mandibles with
irritation.
Joi’en shook his head and nearly
fell out of his chair. The male was so drunk he could barely raise his glass,
but he felt he had reason to celebrate so. Tu’shar named him his successor.
However, it wasn’t a strong and
confident nomination to the position of Lead Elder. There was a lengthy
conversation beforehand as Tu’shar felt the male had to understand he entrusted
him, not his mate, with the safety and prosperity of the clan ship. If Tu’shar
even so much caught wind that something was amiss, he swore on his honour he
would return to rain judgement down on him himself.
“No, I mean for our departing Lead
Elder,” Joi’en said standing, swaying slightly. “I can watch Kai dance in the
comfort of my bedroom. I’m being generous and sharing her with the clan.”
Kai turned away from him and brushed
her locks from her face, the silver ringlets of her hair tinkling. “I told you
I did not want to.”
There were snickers from the table
and Joi’en took a heavy breath, not at all comfortable with being laughed at.
Kai knew as much. He bent to speak in her ear. “Do not be impossible now,” he
hushed angrily. “You are embarrassing me.”
Kai turned further in her seat,
bumping past his maw as she deliberately looked away. Joi’en was the one
embarrassing her, stumbling round drunk, being more obnoxious than usual. He
acted like he genuinely earned the position of Lead Elder instead of being the
benefactor of her carefully calculated plans. The games she played with Fushel
unravelled all of Tu’shar’s well meaning counselling. She continually told
Sala, Navin’s mate that Lead Elder thought he was too rash in his decision
making, which was a lie and only exacerbated his slowness to arrive at a
solution.
She also consoled I’lana, Bahdri’s female, encouraging her to stand up
and assert herself as his equal. It would have been the friendly and right
thing to do if she didn’t hope that the male would beat her for her
boldness. Males that abused females were
outcast even among badbloods, but to her surprise, Bahdri never raised a hand
to I’lana. Kai saw it as a failure, but it still worked to her advantage
because he vented his personal frustrations at work, killing without real
warrant and discretion more than ever.
Ali’shir, however, was proving a more difficult take down than
anticipated. The things that used to anger him no longer did and his mate was
fiercely loyal, taking everything she said to her with a grain of salt as if
she knew her plan to tear them apart. It was frustrating and tedious but Kai
finally found a crack in their perfect façade. It took very little effort to
make sure Tu’shar was in the docks that night they arrived back from their hunt,
catching them red handed in the act.
And while Kai kept his competition down with her well orchestrated
manipulation, she also managed to lift Joi’en up. She was the one that told him
to replace Tilak with Ali’shir. He wanted to bounce the male out on his ass but
she knew it would cast a favourable light on him if he forced Tu’shar’s wayward
mentee to finally step up to some responsibility. It would also make the male
think Joi’en wasn’t as petty as he truly was.
Kai watched him with apathy as her mate gloated to Ali’shir, flinging
the drink in his cup everywhere but in his wide open trap. Joi’en really didn’t
realise how close he had come to losing everything, including her. It would not
have mattered who Tu’shar picked as his successor, Kai would still have been
the Lead Elder’s female. She would have found a way. As she saw it, Joi’en was
just lucky enough to be attached to her.
Tu’shar watched Kai sulk in her seat, her arms crossed, posture
slouched. “So I take it you will not be dancing this evening?”
“No!” she shouted. “And I wish everyone would stop asking me! The Lead
Female does not dance! Ask someone else.”
“Very well,” Tu’shar said, turning in his seat. “Isis,
would you pleasure us with a dance?”
Kai sat up, her eyes narrowed at Tu’shar. “You cannot be serious.”
“It was your suggestion to find someone else and I think I might
have,” he said, dismissing her indignant stand. While humbling Kai was reason
enough for him to ask the human, it was also a prime opportunity to get a
moment alone with Ali’shir. The male and his mate were seemingly attached at
the hip and careful to avoid him since they were discovered that night on the
docks. He wouldn’t have been so insistent otherwise. “So, will you Isis?”
Isis
looked at Ali’shir who nodded reluctantly, his head down. He was not
comfortable with sharing her like that but at the same time he could not afford
to refuse. She was requested personally by the Lead Elder who had them dead to
rights.
“I suppose so,” Isis
shrugged.
“I cannot believe what I am
hearing,” Kai huffed, folding her arms.
“Come, female,” Pavi said reaching
her hand to Isis. “We will help you prepare.”
Pavi exchanged glances with her mate
who as they passed, pulled Ali’shir from his seat. Joi’en watched them leave
with bitter envy as Tu’shar dragged his ‘favourite’ to the back of the hall to
speak.
Tu’shar tossed Ali’shir against the
wall with a hiss, “How long did you think you two could have kept this a
secret?”
“What do you mean, Elder?” There
were so many secrets, Ali’shir wanted to make sure they were talking about the
same one, but he paid a price for his simple question.
Tu’shar back handed him in response,
cracking him hard across the cheek. “Until yesterday, you were my choice for
Lead Elder, boy.” Tu’shar raised his hand again and then held it as he paced
back and forth. “I am so disappointed
in you. I thought you were wiser than this. I thought in all that time in
exile, you would have learned your lesson.”
Ali’shir watched his mentor pace, his
eyes lowered. He had learned his lesson; he made the decision because it was
the right thing to do. His soft spot for Isis
aside, it simply was not fair that he asked her to bend to his will all the
time.
“A good leader knows when to show
restraint, Ali’shir. You show none because you know none. Will this female ruin you like the last?”
“Isis
is nothing like Kaian,” Ali’shir growled.
“Watch your tone when you speak to
me,” Tu’shar hissed. The male was his favourite but he would not tolerate
disrespect from anyone. “And she is like Kaian, in that her desires become your
next task, even if it means breaking the rules.” Tu’shar stepped closer,
cuffing him by the neck. “If you are not careful, you will find yourself on the
outside again, but there will be no one to speak for you then. And there will
be no coming back.”
Ali’shir listened but he did not
hear the male. He trusted Isis with his life.
She would never betray him like Kai did. Ever. “She is nothing like Kaian,” he said firmly.
“So you think,” Tu’shar said,
leading the male into the hall by his neck. “Come boy, we have much to
discuss.”
Isis
looked out at the crowd from behind a cracked door. Behind her, Gi and Jessa
pulled at the dress she wore. It was a skin tight wrap of iridescent shavings
and flat pieces of crystal. It barely covered her private places but the two
females at her side tried in vein to force it, tugging at the hem of the thing
as she watched the room slowly fill. Males and females crowded around, ready to
see the foreign creature do a uniquely human dance.
Isis
pushed the door shut and spun away from the females. “Forget it. I’m not going
out there,” she said. “I made a mistake, I can’t do this. I look like a whore,
I look like Elder Kai.”
“Enough of this whining,” Pavi sighed,
striding across the room. “It is too late for regrets now. Where was all this
nervousness when you fought Mara?”
“That was different, Elder. I knew
what I was doing.”
Pavi ripped a decorative spear from
the wall, it was luck that the silver weapon matched Isis’
gossamer dress. “Here. Take this and pretend to fight. Your body will do the
rest in the end.”
Before she could object Pavi turned
her round and pushed her out the doors. Isis
didn’t turn around, she couldn’t. Every muscle in her body was taught,
paralysed with the fear that only came from having a roomful of expectant eyes
on you.
“Well, show us!” Kai shouted,
snapping her fingers to start the drummers.
Elder Sala shushed the female but
Kai could not be bothered, she was anxious to watch as the human found out
dancing was not as easy as it looked.
The drummers began with a booming
thump, making Isis jump. She looked to them
and then closed her eyes, feeling the cool metal staff in her hands. She took a
deep breath and took her first step, doing as Pavi instructed, letting the
sound move her. Pretty soon her hips wound without thought. Her body twisted,
slinging her bottom left and right with the beat as she turned.
Kai let out a discontented hiss as
those seated around her surged forward, hoping to get a better view. Isis climbed the Elder’s table, her body swaying,
undulating as she stepped on the chairs and then the smooth surface. She staked
the staff in its centre and slowly slid down the length of it, rocking her hips
as she fell to her knees. Kai grit her inner teeth fiercely. Isis
moved like she had done this her entire life drawing those around her in with
subtle movements and hooded glances, compelling them to follow her every
gesture. The human even took a page from her own book and dared to tease her
audience, slinking on all fours until she found a patsy to toy with.
Isis
crept down the length of the table and settled in front of Bahdri. Despite his
hatred of all things foreign, he was the most rapt by her performance and did
not protest in the slightest as she sat on her bottom and gently shut his open
maw with her foot. He prattled in his throat feeling her slowly caress his
cheek with her leg, sliding it over the side of his face, down to his lower
mandibles. Her skin was so smooth against him, her scent tantalising and
disorienting. Bahdri shelved his reservations about her kind long enough to
caress the inside of her calf in return, nipping playfully at her toes as they
toyed with his mandibles.
Isis
pushed the male away with a smirk and turned on her belly, moving on her hands
and knees again, this time toward Fushel. She was going to toy with him as well
when she felt hands seize her hips, ripping her across the smooth surface. She
turned on her back and sat up, watching as Joi’en reached for her again.
Joi’en had not forgotten his time
with the female, the taste of her still wet his tongue and watching her teasing
display only made him want more. Isis flung
her arms out to the side, grabbing the edges of the table, but it would not
stop him from dragging her into his lap.
He held her against him with one
hand around her neck, his chest against her back. His other hand tore at her
dress, popping off beads and stones as he ripped the neckline to free her
breasts. Isis felt the contented rumble
through her body as he smoothed the curves of her chest, twisting her nipples
hard. He bent to nip at the darkened tips when a hand slapped him, broad siding
his face with a smack.
“Stop this!” Kai demanded. “You are
not only embarrassing yourself, but you are embarrassing me as well.”
Joi’en palmed her face and shoved
her back as he stood, hoisting Isis over his
shoulder as he did. “Then I will take this somewhere more private,” he
purred.
Isis
looked up and saw they moved from the table, from the hall itself. Gi, Pavi and
a few others fought the crowd to reach them, but Joi’en told the guards to keep
them back. He did not want to be disturbed for the rest of the evening. Isis looked over her shoulder, in the direction they were
heading and saw the asegians open the Lead Elder’s private dining chambers. She
would apologise to Ali’shir later for breaking her promise to be docile.
Isis
pushed off his shoulder and shoved the heel of her hand against his scenting
organ, protesting more formally. Water sprung to the male’s eyes and he bent
forward. Isis bit down on the arm around her,
tearing a chunk off between her teeth. Joi’en roared and dropped her to the
side, sending her spilling onto the floor. He reached blindly for her but Isis skirted out of his grasp. She stood, spitting out
the hunk of flesh and swung her leg at his knee, connecting with a crunch and
dropping him to the floor. He stood quickly with ire and limped toward
her.
“You cannot win against me, human!”
he roared.
“I don’t have to,” she said kicking
him away. He stumbled only a bit, but enough to fall into the arms of the
guards at his back. They swarmed him, forcing him to his knees and then belly.
From across the hall, Tu’shar commanded them, tearing through the bodies of
onlookers to reach the newly appointed Lead Elder.
“Take him to be repaired,” he
sneered disgustedly. “And make sure he is sober
before he is released.”
Gi finally broke through the
thinning crowd and rushed to Isis’ side,
helping her stand, covering her exposed body with a wrap. “Are you ok?” she
asked, her voice threadbare.
Isis
looked at the trembling hands that held her and then to Gi’s face; the Vae was
close to tears over this. Her blue eyes swam with blue water, wide and
impossibly frightened. Isis held her to
comfort her. “I am fine, Gi,” she soothed. “I can protect myself.”
“That is supposed to be Ali’shir’s
job,” Gi said bitterly.
“Yes it is, dressmaker” Kai said
sauntering toward the females. “Where is your mate and protector? Was he so
ashamed or sickened by the sight of you that he left? Or did he just not care?”
Isis
did not have to look around to know he was missing. He had been there when she
began, watching from the back of the room as Tu’shar spoke into his ear, but
she looked away for a moment and he vanished.
There were a few that left as well,
griping that they could not stomach the sight of prey dancing in such a
fashion, but Isis held to the hope Ali’shir wasn’t among them.
“So where is your mate, human?”
“I’ll tell you where he’s not,” Isis said dumping off Gi’s cloak. She moved to the table
and ripped the spear from its centre. “He’s not here to stop me from beating
your ass if you say one more word to me.”
Isis
stopped in her tracks seeing a small contingent of guards spring to life. They
rushed forward, spears extended, arms out, making a barrier between her and
Kai.
“You forget, human, you do not
approach the Lead Female in such a fashion. Someone may get hurt,” Kai laughed
smugly.
She was above the woman again and
any offence Isis made against her carried a
hefty punishment. Kai held her head higher as Isis
let her arms fall, retracting the blades of the staff and holding it at her
side, at ease.
“You will learn your place, female,
and I will be the one to show you.”
“Kaian, you should be there when
your mate wakes from his drunken stupor,” Pavi said, pushing past the female
and her guards.
Kai put her hands on her hips. “She
has earned this punishment, Pavi.”
“What did you just say?” Pavi turned
quick, the intensity in her voice quieting the hall so you could hear a pin
drop. Kai did not look away but she was quiet. “I still outrank you female and I say she has done no wrong. You will
not touch her for this or anything else she has done before this instant. Have
I made myself clear?”
Kai clutched her mandibles, “It will
be very hard for me to run this ship if you keep undermining me like this, Elder.”
“Well then it is good that Joi’en is
the Lead Elder and in charge of running the ship and not you, Kaian.”
Pavi turned fully now, verbally
beating down the female until even the males winced. Gi giggled into her fist
but Isis didn’t hear a word. She searched the
crowd for Ali’shir, her heart sank as the room began to clear and he was
nowhere to be found.
Inside the privacy of his chambers,
Joi’en winced. The healer’s apprentice cleaned where Isis
had bitten him and it burned. The slender worker also gave him a detoxifying
shot and he was quickly becoming aware of just how foolishly he acted. As if
his mate’s menacing glare wasn’t enough to shame him.
Kai stood in the doorway, her
posture regal as ever, her eyes smouldering. She was positively steaming with
anger, he could feel it radiating off of her willowy body and crawling into
his.
Joi’en turned toward her and held
out his hand, asking her to come to him. Kai reluctantly obeyed, taking it to
sit next to him in their bed.
“This is your own fault,” she
sighed, watching the healer’s apprentice bind his damaged limb.
“It is your fault as well, Kai. You
should not have refused me. You made me look like a fool in front of the
Council.”
“I did not want to dance.”
“You did not want me to see this,”
he said rolling her in his arms. He pinned Kai to the bed against her back and
slipped his hand under her skirt, touching the bite mark on the inside of her
thigh. It was no secret that Kai was not faithful, he gave up on trying to make
her so long ago, but this enraged him. “It is one thing to lay with Fushel,” he
growled, pinching her flesh. “It is another to let him mark you. We agreed that
would always be my right, Kaian.”
“Do not call me Kaian,” she hissed.
“Besides, the way you looked at the human, you would have done worse than mark
her.”
“Worse how?”
“Give her a child.”
“What does it matter? You have made
it clear you do not want to carry my seed,” he said rolling off her.
Kai moved with him, sliding her legs
over his waist and pressing him down on the bed as he had done with her. She straddled
him with her long legs as she slowly eased the straps of her dress over her
shoulders. “I said, when you became Lead Elder that may change,” she purred
sweetly, exposing her breasts. She bent down and Joi’en raised his head to nip
at her neck, but Kai moved, staring him coldly in the eye. “But I will smother
every pup I give you if you touch another female like that.”
Joi’en grabbed at her breasts and
rubbed them roughly, rocking her long body against his hardening cock. “This
will no longer be a one-sided affair, Kai. I will not wait quietly at home for
you to return while you are out with other males. Just like you, I will do as I
please.”
Joi’en nipped at her neck and Kai’s
eyes rolled, she struggled to keep her wits about her as he moved between her
legs. “But not with her, not with the human,” she breathed.
“And why not?”
“Because you really want her.”
“Like you want Ali’shir?” he asked.
“Why would I want him when you are
Lead Elder,” Kai pushed his tunic up his belly, raking her hands over his
muscled chest.
Joi’en nipped at her neck, down the
line of her slender shoulders as he spread his legs. Her hand moved down there,
cupping his flesh, stroking the length of his cock against her hot centre. She
slapped the tip of him against her clit, drawing it back and forth over the
pout seam before slowly pressing it inside. Kai grabbed at his shoulders as she
moved her hips, spreading her legs wide over him as she slowly sat back on the
stiff rod of flesh.
Joi’en rolled his hips and thrust
inside her, filling her completely. He could feel her walls pulse around him,
welcoming him and entreating him to go deeper. He fisted her breast with his
good hand and lifted his hips off the bed, pressing the entire length of him
inside her until she cried out in pain.
Kai opened her eyes and watched the
male under her bow his body, the muscles of his cut stomach flexing as he
thrust. He worked hard at pleasing her. She could tell he was close to coming,
his skin was covered in beads of sweat, his mandibles slack and open, his
breathing laboured. He was right on that edge of ecstasy but he would not come
before he satisfied her.
Kai tossed her head back and lifted
her head to the ceiling, riding the male until that unmistakable warmth burst
in her veins. She came with a whine and collapsed against his chest, twisting
her hips still to pleasure him. Joi’en fisted the cheek of her ass and spread
her wide as he shunted inside her a final time. A hot flash of pleasure knotted
his stomach and he could feel his flesh pump inside her.
Joi’en hugged her body closer to
his, burying his face in her neck and locks. Twisted as they were, these were
the moments he lived for, the moments where he and his mate were closest. They shared only one other thing aside from
physical attraction and that was their mutual hunger for power and prestige.
Joi’en wished there was more than that to tie the female to him as he genuinely
felt affection for her but he realised this would be as close as he would ever
get to her loving him in return. It was not what Ali’shir enjoyed with Isis, but it would do. He was Lead Elder and she his
Elder Female, Kaian was his now, forever.
“Excuse me, Lead Elder.”
Joi’en flashed his eyes open and roared at the
healer’s apprentice making the young male flinch. He had not left the male as
Elder Navin ordered him to but lowered his head during their love making,
trying to give the new Lead Elder and his mate some small measure of privacy.
Not that they cared or appreciated his efforts.
They both glared at him with hatred
now, but Joi’en looked the fiercest. “What do you want?” he growled.
“Your arm, sir. Please let me repair
your arm, then I will be out of your way.”
Kai looked at her hands and frowned
at the florescent green. She thought it was sweat that slicked his skin but it
was his blood. She slid from atop him and stood with a trill, “When they repair
you, we will finish this, Lead Elder.”
Joi’en looked at the male who stood
with eyes downcast again, shaking fearfully. He flinched as Joi’en shot his arm
out to him and the male grunted with amusement. “Fix it,” Joi’en demanded,
watching Kai’s rounded behind saunter from the room. “And hurry.”
Walking to the bar in their lavishly
set meeting room, Kai poured herself a drink, laughing to herself for ever
being jealous of the human. That moment, the infinitesimally small fraction of
a second, was completely unwarranted. Joi’en only pursued the human because he
was drunk and after all the embarrassment she caused him, he would not give her
a second glance. Kai doubted he even remembered the female’s name now that she
had been with him again.
A knock at the door interrupted her
thoughts. She finished pouring her drink and went to answer, still very much
naked.
Kai pushed open the door and lounged
seductively in the doorway, her hand on her hip. “Ali’shir” she purred. “How good to see you,” she said, pinching her
nipples.
Ali’shir seemingly looked straight
through her, searching the room behind her. “Where is your mate, Kaian?”
When she didn’t respond quickly
enough, he barrelled past her, knocking the female against the wall and out of
his way as he thundered through the suite. He headed towards what he knew to be
the master bedroom, the scent of blood and sex thick inside of it.
Ali’shir paused in the doorway and
looked at the trembling male in the room’s centre, clutching the medical
equipment in his hands.
“Where is Joi’en?” Ali’shir
demanded.
Ali’shir followed the male’s eyes as
he looked to the corner at his side in the doorway. Ali’shir turned just as
Joi’en leapt from hiding, blind-siding him with a heavy punch. It blew the male
back but he recovered easy, his rage made him numb to the pain.
Ali’shir grabbed the nearly nude
male by his neck and backhanded him again and again until he heard something
snap. Joi’en fell against the wall and Ali’shir grabbed at his throat with both
hands.
“What do you want from me?” Joi’en
scratched.
Ali’shir was so pissed, he could not
bother with words. He growled in response and tightened his hands, relishing
the crunching sounds Joi’en’s throat made. He wanted the male to die and he
wanted to be the one to kill him. Paya had blessed him with this opportunity,
this slender window of time before Tu’shar left the ship and Joi’en’s slaughter
would still be an act without repercussions, so it was his task to capitalise
on it.
Ali’shir tossed him against the wall
again, moving him to stare into the male’s bulging eyes. They seemed to grow
even larger as he wrung his neck harder, twisting as if he would snap his head
right off.
“Ali’shir!” Heron roared, sprinting
into the room.
Fushel was behind him, ushering in
the ship’s guards as Heron neared his friend, his eyes transfixed on his dark
hands. They wound so tightly around Joi’en’s throat they shook and only seized
tighter the closer he got.
Heron took a step back, his hands up
in supplication. “Ali’shir, you don’t want to do this.”
“Listen to him,” Fushel agreed. “I
just came from escorting Elder Tu’shar from the docks. He will be gone soon and
this will earn you execution.”
“Then so be it,” Ali’shir growled,
squeezing a pained cry from Joi’en.
Heron put his hands over the male’s and dared him to look him in the
eye. “And what about Isis?” he asked. “What
will she do without you? She will never forgive you if you leave her like
this.”
Ali’shir looked at Heron now. The
male was right. He did not care about his life but what would hers be like
without him there to protect her, like he promised.
Joi’en felt the hands around his
throat loosen and he swallowed audibly. He tried to move but Ali’shir tightened
up again, slamming him against the wall.
“Your heart’s desire is yours,
brother, all you need do is ask,” Joi’en said, feeling his throat close again.
Ali’shir snarled and his shoulders
hunched as if he were gathering strength, readying to snap his neck. Fushel
rushed forward but Heron’s outstretched hand stopped him. Ali’shir’s shoulders
unwound and slowly he let Joi’en go, taking a profound step back, leaving the
male to slide pitifully to the floor.
“I want you to stay away from my
mate,” he said, answering his question. “Come near her again and I will mount
your head on my wall.”
Joi’en lifted his head, looking at
the faces that crowded his room. He met eyes with Kai as he stood, wheezingly
laughing. “You have some nerve commanding me to do anything, badblood.”
Ali’shir took a step forward but
Heron blocked him, stretching out his arms wide. He pointed to the streaking
orb of light just outside the window that took up the far wall of the room. It
was Tu’shar’s cruiser, the Elder was gone now, and leadership in Ge’tan had
officially changed hands.
“I am Lead Elder now,” Joi’en said
standing upright, despite the pain shooting down his back. “And if I want your
female, I will have her. Again and again and again.”
Heron was catapulted forward.
Ali’shir lunged for Joi’en but Fushel yoked him with his staff, dragging him
back. The Ship’s Enforcer gave a roar as the male lifted the metal barrier
still trying to get the Lead Elder who still foolishly stood in front of him,
laughing.
“Assist!” Fushel roared, feeling his
grip on the male slipping.
His guards answered his command,
laying hands on Ali’shir, pushing and pulling the near foaming male out of the
room. They reached the hall before he broke free again, rushing for the door.
Fushel stepped in his path, blocking the Lead Elder’s door with his body. The
tip of his spear came to rest against Ali’shir’s throat.
“Don’t,” he warned.
Fushel did not honour much in this
world but his word was sacred and as the ship’s Enforcer, he vowed to protect
Ge’tan and its Leader, whoever that happened to be. He did not want to cut down
his friend, especially not for Joi’en’s sake, but if Ali’shir forced his hand,
he would.
“Don’t,” he repeated, a plea, more
than an order.
Fushel let out a breath he did not
know he held as Ali’shir backed away, striding to the stairwell and tromping
down the steps. His arms fell and he retracted the blades of his staff, tucking
it back into the place between his shoulder blades.
Heron grabbed the wall behind him
and leaned against it for support. The apprehension, the anxiety of it all,
especially that tense stand off at the end zapped him of his energy. Not that
he had much to begin with, he was ripped from his bed at Fushel’s urgency. He
was nothing but befuddled and newly bruised shade of himself at the moment, but
his sacrifice did not go unnoticed.
Fushel capped him on the shoulder. “Thank
you for your assistance, Pilot.”
“You are welcome, Elder.” Heron
nodded, offering respect to the higher warrior. “I am only sorry I was not able
to help.”
“Everyone is alive, so as far as I
am concerned, this ended well,” Fushel said. “Will he be a problem?”
Heron shrugged his shoulders, “All I
know is, we must do all we can to make sure the Lead Elder and Isis never find
one another again.”
“I agree,” Kai said, coming out into
the hall.
Heron averted his eyes from her perfect
shape and bowed again. “May I please return to my mate?”
“Yes, of course. Thank you again,”
Fushel said dispatching a guard to follow the pilot safely home.
He would stand guard at the male’s
home for at least a week until Fushel was certain Ali’shir would not come for
him or anyone else that tried to stop him tonight. Truth be told, the look in
the male’s eye frightened even him. As seasoned a warrior he was, Fushel
wondered if he would have been able to stand against the male. He was the only
other being he had met who’s rage far surpassed his own.
That
damn human, he thought bitterly as he issued duties among his guards. When
he was finished, he turned to face his on and off again lover. She watched him
with disappointment in her eyes.
“What is the matter, Elder Female?”
“Why did you not let Ali’shir kill
him?” Kai pouted.
“Because it is my duty to protect
Ge’tan and it’s Lead Elder.”
“And his mate?” she said stepping
closer, twirling her locks on her fingertips. “What are your duties to her?”
Fushel bent his head to hers, nearly
brushing against her cheek as he whispered into her ear, “Absolutely nothing.”

While AFF and its agents attempt to remove all illegal works from the site as quickly and thoroughly as possible, there is always the possibility that some submissions may be overlooked or dismissed in error. The AFF system includes a rigorous and complex abuse control system in order to prevent improper use of the AFF service, and we hope that its deployment indicates a good-faith effort to eliminate any illegal material on the site in a fair and unbiased manner. This abuse control system is run in accordance with the strict guidelines specified above.
