Thanks to
Paranoidcharlotte, Wolflady and Patty for reviewing. I'm so glad that
you liked the last chapter. It was probably the hardest chapter I
have ever written, even more difficult than my first sex scene.
Warning: slight
Chastine in this chapter. But I'll get back to the good old Lu/John
soon.
Chapter 13 – Saved by an angel
That goddamn fucking
asshole. When John had finally awoken again, the intense
pain had already faded away, leaving him with a dull ache that
resided in every single part of his body. But now that the pain had
faded to a level that didn't drown out all coherent thoughts, John
started to get extremely pissed at Lu.
The arrogant
prick had no right to treat him like it was entirely his fault. And
he needed a smoke. Furious at the way things were currently standing
in hell, John decided that he had enough of it at the moment. He
wasn't going to be Lu's personal anger management
ball. Letting a cigarette appear in his hand John quickly lit it, the
nicotine soothing his anger slightly. Now he only needed to manage to
stand up and he could leave this damn hellhole.
His first attempt at
standing up failed completely, causing a bout of curses to fall from
his mouth. But on the second time he succeeded,
although new pain shot through his body as some of his wounds started
bleeding again. He needed to get himself fixed up properly. The
wounds on his back would heal faster if they were tended to, but
there was no way John would be able to do that by himself. A perfect
solution suddenly popping up in his head, he vanished from hell.

Chas yelped in
surprise, when a bloodied, beaten and naked John suddenly appeared in
front of him. Oh god, what happened to him? Lucifer has to be
treating him badly. He had always believed John's choice to be a bad
one and maybe now he had the chance to make the former exorcist see
the truth.
Trying to push the
inappropriate thoughts that John's naked body awoke in him aside,
Chas knelt down in front of John, who had sunken
down to the floor as soon as he appeared. He could see that John was
extremely exhausted, so he quickly transfered
the two of them into his bedroom. Helping his former mentor up the
angel managed to put him onto the bed, wincing
in sympathy at the groan of pain that escaped from John's lips.
How could someone be so
cruel? John looked as if he had been tortured for hours, cuts and
bruised scattered everywhere on his body. If his face hadn't been
completely unmarked, Chas would have had trouble recognizing him.
This is what they hated demons for. They don't keep their promises
and they are unable to appreciate anything but destruction. If only
he had been more insistent and tried to get
John out of hell.
Gently shaking the
former exorcist, who had closed his eyes obviously trying to forget
the pain, Chas spoke: “Hey John. I'll leave you alone for a sec
and get some water and stuff to clean you up.” Seeing John's
faint nod the angel quickly hurried out of the room, oblivious to the
smile that spread over John's face as soon as his back was turned.
Chas would have liked
to ask John, who had done this to him, but he wasn't sure what kind
of reaction it would get him. When he returned, John had managed to
sit up, looking completely miserable.
Compassion like he had never felt as strong as at that moment swept
through the angel and he quickly hurried over to his mentor's side.
John would have fallen back down, but Chas caught him, careful
to not disturb his wounds.
Sighing the angel
looked John's body over. There was a lot of work to do. Gently
stroking the wet cloth over John's skin he washed away all the dried
blood and grime he found there. Although
Chas tried his best, some of the scabs broke up again and started
bleeding. John tried his best to conceal his pain, but the angel saw
his little winces and heard his almost
inaudible groans.
Anger and hate were the
emotions these sounds and actions invoked in him. Usually angels
shouldn't feel like that, but what Lucifer had done to John was too
horrible to not resent him for it. “It was Lucifer, huh?”
Chas sounded angrier than he had expected and some of that anger was
also directed at John for being stupid enough to strike
a bargain with the Devil. He should have known that there would be
some kind of catch.
“Yeah. You were right, kid. It
was a bad idea to trade Isabel's soul for a place in hell.”
That answer astonished Chas, not only because it was completely
unexpected, but also because it didn't sound like the John
Constantine he knew. Somehow defeated and Chas had never imagined
John to ever sound like that.
His heart ached at the
thought that hell had destroyed the man, he had once had a heavy
crush on and for whom he could feel himself falling again. Maybe he
would be able to save John and then they could be together in heaven.
It was a pretty dream, although he had no idea if there was a way to
get John free from Lucifer. He needed to find a way, but for now it
was more important to care for John's general well-being.
“What are you going to do now?
Will you go back?” While Chas put the last bandages in place,
John seemed to ponder the question. He looked relatively forlorn, so
the angel put his arms around him and pulled him close to his body.
John seemed comfortable
with this position, since he put his arms around Chas and rested his
chin on his shoulder, before speaking. “I'm not going back to
Lucifer, the damn asshole, but I can't do anything if he calls me to
his side. I need to get away from there. Help me, Chas.”
That John asked him for
help sent Chas' mind reeling. While he was still human John had
always refused help, even if a couple of demons were practically
tearing him apart he had insisted on getting through on his own. Even
before he looked at John's hopeful face,
his decision had been made. There was no way he would give up John
without a fight.
Looking into the former
exorcist's eyes he was captivated by the fire he could see burning
just beyond their dark surface. He hadn't even realized that he was
leaning closer until his mouth connected to
John's. Their mouths opened almost simultaneously as their tongues
met to slide together in a wet caress.
Chas was lost. He had
never felt such pleasure before, the fact that it was John kissing
him increasing the sensations tenfold. They shouldn't be doing this.
Angels were supposed to stay pure and innocent. But the thoughts
running through his head weren't innocent at all as pleasure shot
right down to his groin. Moaning into the kiss Chas slid his hands
into John's hair as the exorcist's fingers slowly trailed down to his
ass.
A scroll that suddenly
popped into the room shook him out of his lust-induced haze, bringing
back the reality of what he had been doing. They couldn't do this. He
had to save John first or he would condemn himself to hell too and
that would destroy his dream. His dream of the two of them together
in heaven.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~+~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
John scowled, while
Chas was reading the scroll. Those heavenly bastards just had to fuck
up his plan. Everything had been going so well. He would get Chas to
fall and get himself back into Lu's good graces, because no matter
what he told Chas, he had no intention of leaving hell.
Aside from the torture
there was no better place to be. He could smoke to his hearts
content, was getting the best food known to mankind, regular
mind-blowing sex and anything else he might
even remotely desire.
“I have to go, John. But you
can stay here if you want to. Bye.” And with a flurry of
feathers Chas was gone. Damn. Now he needed a new plan, because the
only way to get back into Lu's good graces would be to get him a soul
he desired. Chas would have been perfect, since he had demanded his
soul anyway. Who else would be enough to replace the loss of Isabel?
He almost laughed, when
the solution came to him. Angela. Who would be a more obvious choice
than the twin sister of the very soul that had escaped Lu's clutches.
No one. Or at least John couldn't think of another person, that would
get Lu over the notion of having to torture him as punishment.
Because no matter how much John liked hell, the torture was something
he rather saw inflicted on somebody other than himself.
Somebody like Angela.
He had never liked the bitch anyway. Now he only needed to decide on
a way to make her fall. So many possibilities, but he couldn't
pinpoint a single thing that she would really do. If she hadn't been
human, she could have passed as an angel, because there wasn't a
single time she stepped over her
boundaries. Just seducing her wouldn't be enough, because although
she could see his true nature theoretically, she was untrained and
heaven wouldn't hold that against her.
No, he needed a better
plan. And then the solution suddenly appeared right in front of his
eyes. Grabbing the newspaper off the nightstand, John quickly scanned
the article that would improve his life in hell a lot.
