She could hear the roar of him and his mate as she buzzed the com. He growled angrily as he answered. Kul’vir’s face softened when he seen Kayla. “What is wrong?” he
motioned her to come inside.
“Maha'vin is challenging Ga’gan for me,” she said
softly. “Please tell me what this means.” Kul’vir sat down slowly.
“They will fight to the death and whoever wins will
have you.”
Kayla knees became weak. If Stef’na wasn’t there to
catch her fall she would be on the floor. She helped Kayla sit down. “It was
never supposed to be this way,” she said softly as her eyes watered. “I thought
Maha'vin moved on. He’s having a baby.”
“Yes, but he never stopped caring for you Kayla.”
“How can he mate with someone else if he still cared
about me,” she snapped, “That’s the reason why I made my choice to be with Ga’gan. He knew of my feelings for Maha'vin, but he stayed
with me.”
“Be with,” Stef’na said softly. “You mated? When was
the ritual?”
Kul’vir growled in annoyance. “They did not have a ritual
Stef’na.” Kayla shook her head no.
Stef’na gasped. “How do you feel? Did he hurt you? You
know that’s not safe.”
“A few small cuts,” Kayla spoke softly as she looked
at Kul’vir. He looked annoyed. “Some bruises and soreness.
I will be fine.” Kul’vir rubbed on Stef’na thighs and purred softly.
“Go to the room and get in bed. I will be there with
you shortly.” She nodded and looked at Kayla.
“Will you be joining us Kayla?” she questioned. Kayla
jaw dropped but quickly looked at Kul’vir. “Really I don’t mind. Your scent
seems to make him perform better.”
“Oh maybe I should go,” Kayla stuttered.
“Her species is very modest with it comes to mating,”
Kul’vir explained to Stef’na. “She was on seba at our
mating. She will be too embarrassed to stay.”
“That’s really odd,” Stef’na said in amazement. “I
hope to learn more about you ooman’s.” She nodded at
Kayla again before leaving the room.
“Well if you all are so open why even wear clothes?”
Kayla asked sarcastically.
“Out of respect,” he answered dryly.
“Oh.”
“My brother can
be dishonored for taking on a mate without the proper ritual.”
“I didn’t know,” Kayla spoke softly. I don’t want them
to fight over me.”
“It’s not your choice.”
Kayla nodded. “Kul’vir I need a favor from you.”
When she returned to Ga’gan’s room he was there
waiting on her with a table full of food. “Where have you been?” he growled at
her in anger. Ga’gan grabbed her arm. “I was worried about you.”
“I’m sorry…” she began, but stopped when she felt his
arms go around her.
“I worry about your safety when you are not near me.
At least until we get out of this section. Once we change quarters I will know
you will be ok with the other females around.”
She turned around to look at him. He was so calm. He
showed her no signs of his word to fight to the death tomorrow night. Kayla
felt on his face softly as she got misty eyed. “Kayla what’s wrong?” Ga’gan
became concerned when she quickly wiped her tears away.
“I’m just happy to be with you,” she lied.
He walked her over to the bed taking her clothes off
on the way. “Take a shower with me,” he suggested. Kayla laughed at him softly.
Ga’gan held her as the water fell on their bodies like
a hard rain. Kayla was glad that water streamed from all four sides of the
large shower. If not, the way he held her she would still be dry. He turned off
one side before pushing her body up against the wall. He lifted her up until
they were at eye level. She could now see the concern in his face. It softened
when she spoke. “I really care for you Ga’gan.”
He raised his arms above her head before pushing
himself inside her body. He groaned. Kayla, could barely breathe once he
pressed his chest against hers. He moved softly in and out of her.
Ga’gan let her hands go and she wrapped them around
his neck. They stared at one another. Kayla was in pain. As he pushed himself
deep inside her he could feel her getting wetter. Ga’gan groaned clawing the
shower walls as Kayla held onto his body. She lifted her body up and impaled
herself on him causing Ga’gan to tilt his head back and roar. He gripped her
firm round butt so he could control the movements. His breathing was rigid as
he increased the speed. Kayla screamed as she felt him come inside her.
They both stayed still, trying to catch their breath.
Kayla placed soft kisses on his neck. Ga’gan let out a soft trill noise each
time. “Your ticklish,” Kayla was surprised.
“If you tell anyone I will kill you,” he teased softly
laughing again from her soft kiss. He moaned loudly when she started to bite
him. Kayla could feel him growing inside her again. She pushed herself away
from him and they both looked down at the hot liquid that ran down her leg and
into the drain.
“What a waste,” he sighed. “I just have to put more
inside you. You will have my child Kayla.” She smiled as he carried her to the
bed.
“Lie on your back,” she murmured as he grazed her body
with his mandibles.
“Why?”
She looked at him and he sighed. He was growing
frustrated until he felt her body on top of his. She straddled him and kissed
on his chest slowly for a moment. Kayla pressed her cheek against his chest to
feel the warmth and listen to the low grumble. Ga’gan was tired of her teasing.
He placed his hands on her bottom and tried to coax himself inside her. He
started to growl in frustration. Kayla slid down on him slowly.
He watched her ample breast rise and fall to her heavy
breathing. He pinched her nipples softly causing a slight moan of delight to
escape her lips. “I really care for you too Kayla,” he said softly.
She stopped moving and looked at him. “Don’t stop,” he
demanded looking down and back at her. Ga’gan grabbed her waist and started to
push her up and down on himself. One hand gripped her side and the other griped
her neck as he increased the speed matching her thrusts. “I need to go deeper,”
He grunted as he grinds his body into hers. He pushed her down hard on him and
moved his hips underneath her in short deep circles.
Kayla came, her body collapsing heavily on his chest.
Moving her butt harder and faster in uneven strokes he finally came inside her
grunting each release of his liquid.
He rolled her over on her side before pulling out of
her exhausted looking body. She winced softly from the emptiness. "I must
eat Kayla. My body is weak."
"Sleep it off," she murmured.
"Who will protect you while I’m venerable?”
Kayla watched him as he ate. She pretended to be sleep
because she didn’t know how to answer his last question.
“Are you hungry,” he asked her in a calm tone as he
looked her way. He sighed when she didn’t answer. “Kayla your heart rhythms are
different when you’re asleep.” She pushed the covers off her as he laughed.
Kayla sat on his lap as he fed her a piece of his fruit.
"Come back to bed with me," she asked a
moment later. "I want to snuggle with you. Feel your warm body next to mine..."
"I'm sorry, I can't. I must go practice."
"It's late."
"But it's important."
Kayla thought of what Lex
told her and smiled. She took his hand and led him to the bed. Kayla positioned
him to sit.
“Is this another part of your mating ritual, like the
shower?” he questioned pulling her closer.
Kayla didn’t answer him. She massaged him slowly
starting at his forehead and up higher, to the part in his head. His leg
started to shake slightly. His loud purr of satisfaction made Kayla smile.
“That’s it. Just relax.”
"Who told you of this?" He groaned softly.
His eyes were getting heavy.
"A friend,” she chuckled.
He leaned back in the bed as Kayla continued massaging
up and down the part on his head. “I want you to know you mean a lot to me
Ga’gan. I don’t want you to get hurt.”
“You know about the challenge?” he barely spoke above
a whisper as sleep started to consume him. Kayla kissed his forehead softly
before getting up and getting dressed. She went to her quarters and changed her
clothes. She put on the same clothes she wore when she first arrived there.
Kul’vir walked in and looked at her.
“Are you ready?” he asked her softly as he looked at
her attire. She handed him her bag.
“Your technology I will not take with me,” she said
softly. “Everything the weaponry made for me is in the bag along with your
grandfathers weapons, which I think should belong to you.”
“Thank you Kayla,” he bowed his head to her. She put
her cloak on so no one could see her clothes.
On the way to the ship she passed Maha'vin’s room but
stopped. Kul’vir looked at her and nodded.
She buzzed his com and he angrily answered the door.
When he saw it was her, his eyes softened. Kul’vir waited for her in the hall
as she stepped inside.
“I know what is supposed to happen in a few hours,” Kayla
spoke softly as he stared at her. “Why Maha'vin?”
“You know the answer to that,” he stepped closer to
her. “Kayla I know I tried to kill you and I hope you can forgive me when we
become mates. I want to remove your mark if you are willing to be with me.”
“But, I want to be with Ga…”
“Why!” he roared at her. He noticed she flinched
slightly and her pulse started to race. He quickly calmed down. “He is merely a
boy who is half my age Kayla. A complete hothead.”
“I wonder who he learned that from,” she said
sarcastically.
“I will not remove your mark,” Maha'vin turned his
back on her.
“And I will never be with you,” she said angrily. “You
are having a child by a woman who wanted to snap my neck off ever since I’ve
been on this ship. Maha'vin, you hurt me and though I told you that you would
never hurt me again you are doing such. You are willing to kill your nephew to
be with a female who doesn’t want you.”
“I will prove to you that I want you Kayla. In a few
hours you will know of my fondness for you.”
She walked to the door. “Maha'vin, I always fought
with my emotions when it came to you. This time I’m going to fight with my
heart for Ga’gan. Someday I hope you will fight with both.” When the door
closed she looked at Kul’vir and shook her head no. They headed towards
Ga’gan’s ship.
“Do you know how to fly this one?” she questioned
taking her cloak off. Kayla sat next to him.
“It may be bigger but it’s roughly the same,” he said
clicking on various buttons. “I’m studying to be a pilot so it’s not so hard. I
read a few manuals a few years ago.”
“A few years ago?” Kayla looked at him as if he was crazy.
Kul’vir smiled, “My species is capable of eidetic
imagery. You call it photographic memories. We remember what we think is
necessary. I’m plotting the course. It will take us a day or so. Ga’gan has
sleeping quarters on this ship if you wish to rest.”
“I’m fine for now,” Kayla sniffled.
Kul’vir looked at her before taking off. “I should be
the one who is really emotional. Stef’na is in the height of her heat.”
Kayla laughed as she stood up to explore Ga’gan’s
ship. The walls of the ship were the same color as his room. In his quarters
there was nothing but a bed and weapons hanging on the wall. She opened a
drawer that was built into the wall. She noticed he had a cloth in the drawer.
It looked like the same one he uses to cover himself to answer his door. Kayla
picked it up and started to cry.
On The Ship:
Ga’gan woke up and groaned. After a moment he
immediately sat up in bed. Kayla was gone. He figured to himself that she went
back to her room. She was complaining earlier about not being in her
temperature controlled environment. He stood up and stretched. Ga’gan knew it
was time. He slowly dressed to fight his Uncle. He never had a challenge before
unlike Maha'vin who won two challenges. One for the possession of his ship and
he other was for Nam’rah.
Ga’gan attached extra daggers on his body. He knew
Maha'vin would add trickery to an honest fight. He looked over his body and
thought of Kayla before he left his room.
Maha'vin waited patiently for his nephew. Others were
quiet as well. Sa’tesh tried to talk to Maha'vin about the removal of Kayla’s
scar but his reply was still no. “He’s not showing,” Sa’tesh sighed.
“You underestimate your son, my brother,” Maha'vin
growled as the doors opened. He looked around. He have
never seen so many Yautja’s in the sparing room all at once.
“Shall we begin?” Ga’gan said.
“We could have finished and ended an hour ago you slow
boy,” Maha’vin growled. “Name your weapon.”
“Just my daggers Uncle,” he sighed. “But of course if
you need a little more of an upper hand you can always use a combistick.”
Maha'vin charged at him. They didn’t bother to fight
in the circle. They decided to use their fist’s first and weapons later. Each
delivered a blow more powerful than the next. Nam’rah turned her head when
blood flew from Ga’gan’s mouth. Maha'vin drew his dagger then Ga’gan reached
for his.
“Stop,” Stef’na said running up to them both.
“Move!” Ga’gan roared pushing her away.
“Kayla’s gone!” She yelled at both of them. They both
stopped and looked at her. “She knew what you two were going to do and she
left. Kul’vir took your ship Ga’gan and is taking her back to earth.” Before
she could get all her words out he ran to the ships control room.
“You see he left the challenge,” Maha'vin yelled. “I
won. According to the rules I won.”
“What have you won Maha'vin?” Nam’rah questioned as
she walked towards him. “Kayla is gone because of you. You win nothing.” He
stared at Nam’rah as she walked away to search for her son.
“Kayla?” Kul’vir walked in on her as she was putting
Ga’gan’s cloth away. “Are you ok?” He walked towards her as she wiped her face.
“Yes I’m fine.”
“Do not lie,” he sighed. Kul’vir wiped one of her
tears.
“I’ll never see your brother again,” she hunched her
shoulders and looked out the window. “I’ll never be able to see the stars the
way I do now. To look up in the sky at night again when I’m back on earth will
be meaningless. It will just remind me of you all.”
“So you will actually miss me too?” he joked. “I’m
shocked, being you never showed any interest in me. No, wait, I take that back.
When you were on the seba you liked me then.”
She looked at Kul’vir and laughed softly. “You are
more important to me than anyone I have ever met. You are my friend. Caring and
mates can be broken, but a friendship lasts a lifetime.”
“No I disagree,” he shook his head softly. “Caring and
mates lasts a lifetime. Friendships can be broken.”
“Not mine. I truly care for you as a friend and you
can’t break that.” She shook his mandible and Kul’vir playfully swatted her
hand away. “Besides who else will steal their brother and uncle’s ship for me?”
They heard a continuous beep sound and headed back
towards the ship. “They are trying to communicate with us,” Kul’vir said. He
pressed a button. They both heard Ga’gan cursing.
“Get your young, stupid Yautja ass back here with my
ship,” he roared. “Kul’vir, how could you take Kayla away from me?”
“Can he hear me?” Kayla asked.
“Of course I can hear you,” Ga’gan snapped. “Please,
don’t leave. Come back. You are my mate no matter what anyone says. I don’t
care about the scar. Please...”
Kayla started to walk away before she changed her mind
but Kul’vir stopped her. “Ga’gan you really think this was my idea?” he
questioned, looking at Kayla.
Ga’gan was angry at how calm his brother was about the
situation. “It doesn’t matter you ingrate!” he barked. “You are helping and I
will kill you when you return!”
“If you ever want to see your precious ship in one
piece you will take your words back,” Kul’vir growled. “No wonder Kayla decided
to leave. You and Uncle both act like hard meats.” Kayla heard an ear piercing
roar coming from Ga’gan.
“Kul’vir this is your mother,” Nam’rah said softly.
“Come back now and bring Kayla with you. The matter is settled.”
“Is Maha'vin dead,” Kayla gasped.
“No.”
“So he agreed to remove my scar?”
“No.” She looked at Ga’gan who was so angry he
couldn’t stay still. “Kayla I’m the elder and my word is finial. Your scar will
be removed.”
Kul’vir looked at her as she bit her bottom lip.
“Whatever you decide,” he reminded her. When she shook her head no he turned
off the communication.
As she walked away Kul’vir reminded her, “This is the
very reason female warriors don’t mate. When they go off to a hunt their mate
goes crazy.” Kayla nodded and continued to walk.
The trip took less than a day, or so Kayla thought.
She just did not want it to end. He landed the ship on one of the islands off South America. He stepped off the ship with her. They didn’t say
anything during the awkward moment of her leaving the ship. Kayla sneezed.
“Are you ok?” Kul’vir walked closer to her. “Do you
need to come back?” She gave him a hug. He didn’t respond until a moment later.
“You will see me again Kayla. I promise you.”
“I believe you,” she wiped her tears away. “Don’t let
your brother and uncle bully you. Do the headlock move
I taught you.” He nodded and held out his hand. He placed several gold coins in
her hands.
“This may be of value to your species,” he explained.
“My father took them during one of his hunts a few centuries ago.”
“Thank you,” Kayla looked at the finely crafted
hammered gold coins. “My father left me a sizeable trust fund.” He tilted his
head to the side. “My father left me a lot of things worth value,” she
corrected herself.
“Well I must get going,” he placed his hand on her
shoulder and bowed to her. He gave her some salve his sister used on her body
and the sun block she asked Pahel to make for her. She listened as the
camouflaged ship took off.
Kayla looked around the island, then back up in the
sky. She decided the spot she stood in would be the spot she built her home.
