loner654: *strokes baby
gorilla* I'm happy, that you think Bally humorous, because I'm
usually horrible at writing humor. Thanks.
Loki: Thanks for
reviewing. I would have liked to continue the story sooner, but this
chapter just wasn't flowing somehow.
mirage: Thanks for your
review.
I'm not entirely happy
with this chapter, but I had to advance the story time
line by two weeks, because I had no ideas on how to fill them.
Chapter 11 – Emotional roller
coaster
Every demon in the
immediate vicinity scrambled off, when Lucifer threw another of his
temper tantrums as he had frequently done ever since his plan
back-fired. He had already hatched a new plan to turn the situation
to his favor, but up till now, there had been no opportunity to put
the plan in motion.
His two targets had
spend the last two weeks, living fairly well together. Too well for
Lucifer's liking. Although they bantered with each other constantly,
there hadn't been a mayor quarrel since Balthazar moved into John's
apartment. Lucifer had thought, that they would kill each other in a
few days, if forced to live together, but somehow they had managed to
create a peaceful coexistence.
At the moment it
consisted solely of fighting and fucking, which didn't worry Lucifer
much. But to his utter dismay both of them were slowly developing
real feelings for each other, that went deeper than lust. Maybe he
could use that to his own favor, use John's feelings to create his
downfall.
Intend on his new,
improved plan Lucifer went up to earth. Now he only needed a couple
of stupid pawns for his game.

Balthazar lifted the
white shirt he was wearing, while looking at himself in the mirror.
It had originally belonged to Johnny-boy, but the exorcist hadn't
complained, when he had claimed it. His belly was starting to show
his pregnancy, although he could still easily hide it under a wide
shirt.
The last two weeks had
passed in a way, Balthazar would never have imagined them to go.
Although John was his usual gruff asshole self, there had been
moments when he had almost treated the half-breed with tenderness.
That did not only
confuse Balthazar, but also sent him on an emotional roller
coaster, that he shouldn't be able to experience under normal
circumstances. Normal circumstances. Balthazar mentally snorted at
that thought, while he continued to study his belly in the mirror.
Five months had passed
since his life had veered away from being that of a normal average
half-breed. Well, he had always considered himself above average, but
the way things were going lately was weird even by his own standards.
Tenderly stroking his belly Balthazar reflected on the strange
emotions he had developed over the last
weeks.
He knew, that most of
them were emotions no demon could ever be able to feel and yet he
did. And he was grateful for them, as well as the fact that he was
even able to feel gratefulness, because
usually demons couldn't.
It was almost scary,
how much he had changed over the last two weeks. He hadn't really
become a different person, because all the malice, the arrogance and
the feelings of superiority were still there. Rather than changing,
his personality had expanded, gaining new character traits and
feelings, he never thought he could possess.
One of the strangest
things was probably, that he liked the annoying angel Chas, who was
constantly visiting and checking up on Johnny-boy's and his health.
Somehow the kid was endearing, although Balthazar would never have
admitted that out loud, since his pride was still the same as it had
always been and no self-respecting demon would ever like an angel.
He still thought those
feelings to be a weakness, but they were a weakness he gladly
embraced. During the last couple of days his feelings for John had
also changed, but he had yet to figure out what that meant.
Johnny-boy was currently gone, doing an exorcism, which made
Balthazar feel almost empty as if he missed the exorcist.
Well maybe he did, but
he still would never admit that, especially not to John or anybody
else for that matter. He was certain, that he was missing his freedom
rather than the exorcist, since he was still hunted by most other
half-breeds and couldn't leave the safety of the apartment without
John.
Maybe the warm, fuzzy
feelings he got, whenever he thought about John were cabin fever,
rather than what he had suspected them to be at first. Balthazar
decided to take a venture outside in hope of getting rid of those
feelings, although it would be dangerous. He completely ignored the
nagging voice at the back of his mind, that told him that it wouldn't
work.
That of course was
complete shit, since he definitely was not in l..., he couldn't even
think it, with John. Because no matter how strange he felt lately, he
still disliked the exorcist. And that dislike was not directed at the
fact, that John hated him with a passion. Most definitely not.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~+~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Lucifer's mood
instantly shot up, when he saw Balthazar leave John's apartment.
Stupid, worthless minion. Now he was completely unprotected,
vulnerable to his wonderful plan. Quickly alerting the three pawns he
had hired, Lucifer sat back and waited for the play to unfold.
Most of the hellish
minions were hoping for it to work too, because if another of
Lucifer's schemes failed, there would be hell to pay. And it would be
them, who'd have to pay it.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~+~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Balthazar walked down
the street, oblivious to the three dark figures following him. He was
concentrating his psychic abilities on detecting demonic auras in the
crowd, but there weren't any half-breeds close by.
The fresh air did
wonders to his mood and his feelings, lifting and lighting them
immediately. No wonder humans hated hell. There was neither fresh air
nor light to be found. He could also momentarily forget his troubling
feelings about Johnny-boy, which was an additional bonus.
The two of them would
most likely get into a fight as soon as he returned, but that would
only lead to wonderful, fast-paced after-fight-fucking. Both the
fight and the fuck were something Balthazar looked forward to.
Thinking about what the exorcist would do to him, a smirk spread over
his face as he sank deeper into his own thoughts. If he concentrated
on it enough, he could almost feel the imaginary sting of John's hand
against his bare ass. Oh yes, he would enjoy their fight.
Totally absorbed in
himself, he wasn't able to react fast enough, when suddenly a
chloroform soaked rag was pressed over his
mouth and he was dragged into a dark alley. Balthazar tried to
struggle, but once again his demonic powers left him. Lucifer, shit.
This couldn't be good.
My baby...John...no,
were the last unarticulated thoughts shooting through his brain,
before he had to succumb to the oblivion of unconsciousness.
The three men who had captured him, unceremoniously
dragged his limp body to an old pick-up truck and drove away.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~+~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Today's exorcism had
been a fairly easy one and John returned to his apartment in a
exceptionally good mood. He was looking
forward to the rest of the evening, which would most likely go like
every evening over the last two weeks.
At first Balthazar
would try to provoke him into verbally
sparring with him, before he would pound the annoying half-breed
right through the mattress. Sometime during the last week, John had
understood the game and stopped taking Balthazar's baits seriously.
It was merely the foreplay they had to have, before they could move
on to fucking.
If somebody would have
told him, that he would be sharing his apartment with Balthazar and
be happy about it, two weeks ago, he would have sent that person
straight to hell or at least to a mental hospital. But it had been
almost easy to get used to the half-breed, to having his constant
insults around.
He would still throw
Bally out as soon as the kid was born, because the half-breed meant
nothing more to him than being a convenient fuck. Right. And
everybody, who insisted that he had deeper feelings for the demon,
could just fuck off. Especially Chas, who kept nagging him about it
every second day. No matter, what the angel said he definitely wasn't
deluding himself.
When he reached the
door to his apartment, John found a small piece of paper pinned to
the wood. Reading the words caused the blood to freeze in his veins.
