Chapter Ten

“Papa!” Acaciah exclaimed happily. “I’m so glad you decided to stay!” They hugged tightly. “What in the Force did you tell the Council?” she asked.

“I told them I was a married man and it was time for me to settle down with my wife and play with my grandchildren!” He replied, tousling Aiden’s hair. Lawson, there littlest one, toddled in behind his big brother.

“I see we have Anakin part III here,” Obi-Wan said dryly. “Has your mother said anything about you not having an heiress yet?”

Acaciah shook her head. “Lawson’s so different than Aiden,” she remarked, scooping him up as he tried to pry open Obi-Wan’s comm device. “He’s very active and curious, and much more impulsive than Aiden.”

“He’s just like Anakin, then,” Obi-Wan chuckled. “I suspect Aiden is more like Anakin wishes he was!”

“Yes,” Acaciah agreed. “Anakin says Aiden is like Shmi was; he inherited her calm demeanor.”

"I never met her," Obi-Wan said. "I wish now that I'd let him go after her when he started having nightmares. If I'd known she was really going to get hurt..." he trailed off regretfully.

“Me neither, obviously,” Acaciah smiled. “Aiden has her hair and her smile. I think Anakin got a little piece of his mother back when we had Aiden. Both the boys have made him very happy.”

“I have had numerous other Knights approach me about the Unification Movement; shall I direct them to you and Anakin? Are you really ready for them? There’s going to be an awful lot of them, Acaciah. Is Anakin certain we can adequately provide for all of them?”

“Bring them on, Obi-Wan,” Anakin said as he entered the room. “We’re ready for them; we made arrangements for them to stay with the Anolia for now, and maybe some permanent homes on Shintel.”

“You’re not afraid of this change, are you Anakin?” Obi-Wan asked him suddenly, staring at his former Padawan thoughtfully.

“Why should I be?” he asked.

“You may not be able to control your creations,” Obi-Wan replied. “And they are dreadfully afraid of what you are doing in Coruscant.”

“It’s the will of the Force, Obi-Wan. They can adapt to it.”

“Or what, Anakin?”

“I’m sure it won’t come to that,” Anakin said smoothly. “Either way we can handle it.”
