********** Dana was a beautiful woman, and she and Peter looked very happy together. After the ceremony they whisked past so quickly I didn’t even get a chance to wave. Egon had to go with the wedding party, but he made sure we had a ride to the reception. Aiden was practically bouncing in his seat with excitement. It reminded me of when he was little. "I can’t believe it... how could you not tell me?" He said, and I felt my heart almost stop. "You actually grew up with the Ghostbusters! Peter Venkman is my uncle. How well did you know them?" He asked, giving me a temporary reprieve. I thought he’d figured it out for sure. "We lived in row houses. The Stantz family lived to our right, and we were on the end. There was a narrow alley and the Spengler family lived on the end row house on that block. Our house was smack dab in the middle. Ray was like a brother to me. His mother and father practically raised us after our mother died. Egon and I were very close. He and Ray spent a lot of time together, and I tagged along. Peter and I never really spent much time together." I explained to him. "Why don’t you ever talk about your parents?" He asked me. "My mother died the day after I was born. Everyone always said I looked just like her, though. My father never really got over losing her. He was an alcoholic, and he died in an accident right before I turned sixteen. Peter has always blamed me for causing the deaths of our parents. The last time I saw him he told me he never wanted to see me again. I still can’t believe he sent me a wedding invitation." I confessed to my son. "No wonder you’re so nervous. I bet he regrets saying that." My son stuck up for me. "We’ll see." I sighed as the taxi pulled up to the hotel where the reception was being held. ********** After the wedding photos were taken, Ray moved over to where Egon stood. "Hey, Eggy, I think we should give Pete a heads up about you know who. If he’s gonna flip out I’d rather it be here instead of in front of all the guests." Ray suggested. Egon looked a little worried about confronting Peter, so Ray did him a solid. "I’ll go tell him." Ray offered. "But you’ll owe me." Spengler nodded in agreement, and Ray headed back over to Peter and Dana. "Hey, Francine, who died?" Peter joked at the serious face Ray wore. "Uh, no one... yet, but I thought I should warn you." Ray said. "Warn me about what?" Peter asked, on guard. "Now, don’t be angry at Egon, he thought he was doing something nice. You know his people skills are limited at best." Ray went on. Pete’s gaze flicked over to where Spengler stood. "He sent his wedding invitation to a girl and her son..." "Wait... are you warning me that Egon invited one more person than his ‘plus one’ we never expected him to invite? I admit, it’s a little shocking to discover the egghead could scrounge up a date..." "It’s Rebecca." Ray said bluntly. Peter froze. "My Rebecca?" He asked in a tight voice. "Who’s Rebecca?" Dana asked. "It’s your sister." Ray admitted. "I’ll kill him..." Peter growled, preparing to confront Egon. Ray put a hand on his chest. "There’s more... she has a son. A teenaged son, and, I don’t think Egon realizes it, but the kid is a carbon copy of him. I think Egon’s the father, but, please, don’t say anything. The boy might not know." Ray explained, taking the wind out of Peter’s sails. "Are you saying Egon has a teenaged son he doesn’t know about, and the mother is Peter’s estranged sister?" Dana asked, wrapping one hand around Peter’s upper arm and rubbing circles on his back with the other. "Exactly." Ray replied. "You expect me to believe that not only did Egon get a date, but he’s actually not a virgin? I don’t know..." Pete said. Dana’s calming influence helped. If he was making jokes he’d probably be okay. "There’s one more thing..." "Please don’t tell me he knocked up the slime, too." Peter groaned. Ray didn’t bother hiding his grin. "I don’t think he actually slept with the slime... but, I digress. Egon sent his invitation to Rebecca, but she thinks you invited her." Ray told him. Venkman rolled his eyes and shook his head. "I should kill him for this... what the hell am I supposed to say to her? The last time I saw her was half her lifetime ago, and I accused her of murder." Peter said, exhibiting a rare moment of vulnerability. "Tell her you missed her." Dana suggested. "I know I missed her, and I’m pretty sure Egon’s in love with her. I knew she had a crush on him back then, but I didn’t know the feeling was reciprocated." Ray shook his head. "Great." Venkman groaned. While AFF and its agents attempt to remove all illegal works from the site as quickly and thoroughly as possible, there is always the possibility that some submissions may be overlooked or dismissed in error.
