(A/N: PLEASE READ! Well, I'm finally getting to this. I've had this story in mind for, geez, years now. And finally I'm getting around to it. I always thought that a crossover between Alien and Species would be a really good one that could easily take place, especially with how similar the two alien races are. But here's the thing though that's really going to separate this story from my other stories. All the characters are going to be original characters. This means that the characters involved need character development and backstory and stuff that I need to build up, which is going to be a challenge, but manageable. That being said, not all of the characters are going to be likable and stuff, and there may be some topics that come up that may be frowned upon, particularly due to the sexual themes that occur in both Species and Alien. Just remember that I am creating fictional characters who are the way they are for story purposes, and their thoughts and feelings do not reflect my own, they are these characters' personalities.)

"ALIEN-SPECIES"
Chapter 1: Subject 4G2A
Officially, the space station known as the Atlas did not exist. Not on record anyway. Of course, there were certain people in government and other organizations that knew about it, but officially, it didn’t exist, with all information on it being classified or off the record. And for good reason.
Lots of things have been done in the name of science and progress. Some unorthodox, some unethical, some immoral, some illegal, and some dangerous. One particular field of study had fallen under all of the above, and more than once almost led to a chain of events that could have even led to the extinction of humanity. It was for this purpose that the scientific space station, the Atlas, was built, so the type of research and experiments that were done on it would pose no threat to Earth since they were not on it.
Currently, the Atlas was rotating a little over 154,000 miles around Earth, somewhere between the planet and the moon. As of now, there were six people onboard, but only five of them were registered. Like the Atlas itself, the sixth person’s presence was classified. The other five were a team of scientists that had been chosen for the project, a project that required 24-hour surveillance. Not simply for research purposes, but also for safety reasons. After the last several containment breaches from other past projects, no more chances were being taken.
At the moment, Dr. Davis Scotts, the second youngest member of the team sat in a monitoring room as he spoke to the unofficial resident of the Atlas. A thick layer of glass separated them as they spoke, their voices transferred via speaker. It was one of the necessary precautions, and one of the biggest rules: no physical contact with the subject. The subject, in this case, being a young woman whose beauty was beyond compare.
Currently, she was listening to Scotts talk as her sapphire blue eyes sparkled with amusement, her pink lips pulled into a delightful smile. Her smile grew wider, revealing perfect, straight, white teeth, and a light blush colored her flawless skin. She gave a light shake of her head, causing her shining, golden blonde hair that fell past her shoulder to sway.
“Did that really happen?” she asked in a voice that could have belonged to a world-famous singer.
Scotts held up his hands. “Swear to God. My brother was always pulling stunts like that.”
Unlike the woman, who could easily pass for a supermodel with her otherworldly beauty, Scotts was nothing special to look at. His appearance was average, perhaps a little on the nerdy side, with glasses that rested on a slightly crooked nose, a result of having been broken when he was a child. But appearances were not why he was chosen for this assignment. That was thanks to his intellect, something he believed was of much greater value than looks, regardless of one’s gender.
That wasn’t to say that he didn’t appreciate beauty when he saw it. And he, like everyone else who set eyes on the woman behind the glass, found her to truly be a sight to behold. They had, however, been warned about that, been told it was part of what she was, and not to be fooled by it.
Scotts knew good and well that beauty was only skin deep, having seen many examples of it as a child. Being one of the cliché geeks and nerds all throughout school and even in his college years, he’d faced much ridicule from the so-called popular kids. The beautiful people, male and female alike, who thought they were better than him, and took every opportunity to put him down.
As unpleasant as the experience had been, it had also taught him a valuable life lesson. He learned not go judge one based on their appearance, and to value one’s mind and personality over anything else. It was why he had taken the warning to heart when he had been told not to let the woman’s beauty fool him, and to especially never let her tempt him, or any other member of their team.
He’d followed the rules, remembering everything that had been said to him and the others. Despite the subject, officially classified as Subject 4G2A, looking and acting as she did, Scotts always kept in mind what she was, and he proceeded to think of her in that way. Not just for security reasons, but also to keep his own conscience in check.
Not all of the experiments that were done were… pleasant. If she were an animal, then animal rights activist groups would have a lot to say about what was being done. It was after the first rather immoral experiment, one that involved a new kind of gas that resulted in her painfully coughing up blood, that had him feeling a great deal of sympathy towards her.
“I’m sorry,” he had whispered, having been left to monitor her after the results of the gas had been administrated.
Unbeknownst to him, the speaker had been left on, and his voice, even whispered, had echoed through her room. She’d looked at him in surprise, seeming to truly see him for the first time since he had been here, but had not responded. She had watched him for a while after that though, seemingly studying him. She’d done the same to the other members of the team, but after that, the way she had looked at him had seemed different.
There had been other experiments, in the days that had followed, though none as unpleasant as the gas. But when another rather unpleasant one did occur, and he had watched her suffer through it, he had noticed her watching him again, her eyes almost questioning. It wasn’t until later though, when he had once again been taking his shift of monitoring her, that she had knocked on the glass.
Switching on the speaker, he had asked, “Did you need something?”
She’d watched him for several long moments before finally asking, “Why do they hurt me?”
Thinking back to that day, Scotts still felt the same level of sorrow he had felt back then. He’d apologetically told her that they didn’t want to hurt her, but that they were being made to. Because she was dangerous, and they needed to know how to protect themselves from her or anyone like her. Not only that, but there was a lot they could learn from her, which would in turn help humanity as a whole. And that, unfortunately, required them to find out what was affective against her and what wasn’t.
She’d seemed to ponder on this for a long while before finally responding. “Thank you for telling me. No one ever would, so I eventually stopped asking… Until now.”
Nothing more had been said that day, but it had been more than enough information for Scotts. He knew there had been other teams before his. In fact, the leading science officer, Dr. Regina Fritz, had worked with many of them. And it seemed they had been told the same things about her, and had treated her in the same manner, like she was an object rather than a living creature. He, however, had been the only one to ever show her sympathy for the cruelty she had faced.
That moment, however, had been what led to the two of them starting to talk to each other during his shifts of monitoring her while the others proceeded to treat her as a mere science experiment. Months went by, and the two had continued to converse. Scotts had been very on guard for the longest time, having been warned in every way, shape, and form about her, about how dangerous she was and how manipulative she could be. But from what he could gather, everything she said and did was sincere and genuine, and he was very good at reading people.
For a good long while, the woman seemed to have no emotion at all, almost as if she were a robot, though her eyes always seemed to be sad. But the more time that went by and the more they spoke, Scotts began to notice subtly changes in her. In her tone, in her mannerism, in her body language. She had become much more animated. He would see her eyes light up and a smile tug at her lips when she saw him, even when she knew there would be pain to come.
Which eventually led them here, conversing like old friends. And though she had become more animated in general, though not by much, she was always only ever like this with him. And while he knew that Fritz would not approve, he wasn’t actually breaking any rules by speaking with her like this. He been reprimanded for it before, but he was able to make the argument that having social interaction with her of this kind was important for their research, even if it was considered dangerous for risk of being manipulated by her.
As he finished telling his story of shenanigans he and his brother got into during their teenage years, her smile went from delight to slightly sad and full of longing. “I wish I could see Earth. I’ve only ever seen pictures. And I’ve only ever seen the people of whatever team is here. I’d like to meet your family.”
A resigned sigh escaped him. “I’m sorry. I’m afraid that’s not my call to make. I have no authority.”
Her smile became sadder. “I know, I just wish things could be different.”
Before Scotts could respond, a stern, authoritative voice spoke out from behind him. “Well, isn’t that touching.”
Scotts silently swore. Speak of the devil and he shall appear. Or she in this case. Hell hath no fury like a woman scorn, or so the saying went. Only rather than a fiery Hell, it was one of ice. Dr. Fritz was certainly cold enough to confirm that.
Turning around, he looked up at the head of the science officers. She was a middle-aged woman with calculating brown eyes that looked from him to the woman behind the glass with great disapproval. She would have been pretty had it not been for the seemingly permanent scowl on her face and look of contentment she always seemed to have while around others that had been there for as long as Scotts had known her. Her light brown hair was pulled back into a tight bun, making her face look even more strict. Fritz was definitely a no-nonsense person whose bad side you did not want to get on. Unfortunately, Scotts seemed to be getting on it a lot.
Getting to his feet, he nodded to her in greeting. “Dr. Fritz, I was just telling Alice of-”
“Alice?” Fritz repeated, her lips thinning in disapproval. “I thought we discussed this already. It’s Subject 4G2A, that is the only label it needs to go by.”
Behind him, the blonde heard the scientist’s words through the speaker. All traces of happiness she had displayed before melted away to become an emotionless mask with eyes that shined with anger, and she slammed her palm against the glass, in a show of hostility. “My name is Alice.”
Despite the trouble he knew this would cause, Scotts couldn’t help but feel a sense of pride. He had been the one to give her the name Alice when she had previously only ever been called Subject 4G2A. Well, perhaps not given it to her exactly. Books were some of the few luxuries she had been provided in her room. One day while he had been talking to her, he had simply mentioned that his favorite book as a child was Alice In Wonderland. With her blonde hair, naïve curiosity, and child-like wonder that had begun to creep through her near emotionless persona, he had remarked that she reminded him of the book’s titular character. To which she had responded that she should therefore be called Alice as well, a name she had referred to herself as ever since. Even the other members of the team had taken up to calling her this rather than just her subject number. Only Fritz stubbornly refused to refer to her as such.
Eyes hardening, Fritz looked at Alice coldly before turning back to Scotts. “You’re a fool. Can you not see that this is all an act? She wants you to see her as human, to think of her as such and feel for her. It’s a manipulation tactic she’s using. Taking on a human name is all part of it.”
Scotts’ own lips thinned out slightly. “With all due respect, I’m not sure I fully agree with that. Nor do I see the problem with her having a name.”
“And I’m not an ‘it’,” Alice told her darkly.
Fritz’s eyes were cold as she stared at Alice, then looked at Scotts with a look of condensation and pity, but not in a sympathetic way. “I think you’re forgetting just what exactly it is. Has it really been so long since you’ve last seen it? Perhaps you need a bit of a reminder.” She looked back at Alice. “Strip.”
Alice’s eyes widened slightly as she quickly pieced together Fritz’s intentions. She glanced at Scotts, who also seemed to figure out what the head scientist was going for.
“That really isn’t necessary,” he told her.
But Fritz was not to be deterred. “I think it is.” She looked back at Alice. “Strip.” When her order was not followed, she took a step forward. “You will not be told again. Strip, now.”
“No,” Alice replied definitely.
Fritz’s nostrils flared. Her hand suddenly shot out, hitting a button on the control panel, and Scotts let out a cry of objection, but it was too late. A thick fog of subzero temperatures suddenly blew down from the ceiling in Alice’s room with great force. Alice cried out as she was blasted, her screams echoing through the speaker.
Scotts winced, his hand twitching, as if he wanted to make a move to stop this, but he knew he didn’t have the authority and would only get in trouble if he tried to stop her. To go against the team’s head would have consequences, consequences that could see him on the next shuttle back to Earth with a single word from Fritz.
Removing her hand from the button, Fritz watched as the fog stopped blowing, revealing Alice once more. She grimaced in pain as several patches of frostbite now decorated her otherwise flawless skin. It didn’t last long though, as a reaction soon took place, and the frostbite began to flake off her body, leaving damaged flesh behind. Miraculously though, the damaged area began to heal before their very eyes, leaving perfectly unblemished skin once again, as if nothing had ever happened.
Fritz’s gaze was as cold as the air Alice had been blasted with. “Strip.”
Glancing at her with the utmost hatred, Alice slowly reached up and removed the hospital gown she wore, the only article of clothing he had ever been given to wear. It dropped to the floor, leaving the blonde woman completely bare, revealing her absolutely flawless figure.
Despite the situation, Scotts couldn’t help but feel his eyes run up and down her body. Alice truly did seem to be perfect in every way. Not just a pretty face, but also a body that would make any woman jealous and any man weak with arousal. Every last inch of her screamed sex appeal. Her legs, hips, stomach, breasts, everything about her seemed to be utterly perfect. If God had ever sculpted the perfect female form, then it was her.
Standing beside him, even Fritz seemed to be affected by Alice’s perfection, her own eyes running up and down her body appreciatively. She wet her lips and swallowed slightly as her lips parted before she spoke in a slightly uneasy voice. “Change.”
Instead, Alice glared at her definitely, her refusal being the only thing she had left. Fritz was not having it though. After several seconds passed where Alice did nothing, she hit the button again, and Alice was blasted with more cold air.
When it stopped, Alice was curled up in a fetal position, her body covered in more patches of frostbite. They soon flaked away just like the last time and healed, but it seemed to be enough to get a response out of her. As Alice rose to her feet, her features began to change, her flawless beauty melting away to reveal something else, something far less appealing, something not quite human. Something not quite of Earth.
Though her form was still humanoid, she hardly looked human anymore. She now had a chitinous, translucent skeletal body. Her mouth and eyes were much larger, the whites of her eyes becoming yellow and her irises now seemingly glowing blue, as if they were bioluminescent with cat-like slitted pupils.
Her hair was no longer human hair, but had become prehensile tentacles fused together, going doing her back and then jutting out, just out of reach of the spikes going down her back. Other loose hanging tentacles fell on either side of her head, almost making it look like she had dreadlocks, and two of these hair-like tentacles seemed to form mandibles around her mouth, a mouth that contained two sets of sharp teeth.
Her features had become somewhat reptilian, her semi-transparent skin being such a dark shade of green that it almost looked black. She still had breasts, but their purpose seemed to serve a different function other than mammary glands and had very large nipples that stood out in a pinkish-lavender color.
While rather grotesque in appearance, and without a trace of humanity to be seen, this form of Alice still somehow seemed to ooze sex appeal, which Scotts knew was a part of her species as a whole, no matter what form she was in. Even so, a sadness seemed to appear in her eyes, and she almost appeared to be ashamed of what she was.
There had really been no need for Fritz to force Alice to reveal this side of herself. He had known exactly what she was, an alien-human hybrid, and a dangerous one at that. He and the rest of the team had been briefed on her origins, and on the origins in her species in general.
It had started many years ago, all the way back in 1974. A Search For Extra Terrestrial Intelligence program had sent out a transmission in the hope of finding intelligent life outside of Earth. And in 1994, they received a response from a seemingly friendly alien race, along with alien DNA and instructions on how to combined it with human DNA. Through the use of genetic experimentation, science gave birth to test subject S1L, aka Sil, the result of the fertilization of a human ovum with alien DNA.
Little did those involved with the program know what they had been getting into. The alien race that had contacted them wasn’t as friendly as the scientists had been led to believe. With origins from the Magellanic Galaxy, they were an instinctively predatory and cancerous race that infiltrated other species’ gene pools through interbreeding and other kinds of genetic contact, with a highly sexual nature with an extreme desire to reproduce. It was for this purpose that Alice, along with others like her, had such an appealing and attractive human form, all for the purpose of obtaining a mate to breed with.
This alien species apparently matured very quickly, with Sil having reached adulthood in a mere three months. With an aggressive nature and a high instinct of survival and procreation, not to mention the ability to learn and obtain knowledge very quickly, the scientists that created her soon realized what a threat she was as they recognized her violent tendencies, and soon sought to eliminate what they had created.
That had proved to be more difficult than they thought it would be though, as the Species race, as many of the scientists had come to refer to the alien race, possessed rapid and high regeneration, where they would be able to survive many things that would otherwise be able to kill a normal human, and completely heal most injuries in seconds without so much as leaving a scar behind. Not only had they failed to eliminate Sil, but they had been unable to prevent her from escaping.
Now on the loose, Sil presented a major threat to humanity, and not simply because of her violent tendencies. With a hypersexual and predatory nature, she had sought out a suitable mate, able to become pregnant and birth a child in less than an hour. As such, she would be able to populate her species very quickly, and in a matter of months, her children would he be able to do the same. Their kind was incredibly fertile, and could even become pregnant through oral sex.
Fortunately, a team had been able to hunt her down and kill Sil and the child she had birthed, saving the human race. But science, it seemed, had not learned its lesson, and so created Eve, the genetic duplicate of Sil, using medication to keep her alien genes suppressed to keep her more docile and more human in nature while isolating her from men to avoid temptation. And this seemed to work, for the most part. That is, until the incident.
As it turned out, members of the Species race had apparently been to Mars in the past, and a member of a crew of astronauts, Patrick Ross, ended up getting infected with some alien DNA that had been left behind, which had infected him and completely taken him over, mutating him into one of the Species, and sending him on a spree of sexual conquests that he impregnated. Upon becoming aware of each other, Ross and Eve’s already massive sexual nature went into overdrive. And after Eve made her escape for the lab, the two had been able to meet up and mate.
Although both Ross and Eve, along with most of Ross’ children, had been hunted down and exterminated, a child had been conceived and born from them. This child, taken in and named Sara by Dr. Bruce Abbot, had hidden her away, where she grew into adulthood as the purest strand of the Species race thus far. Eventually though, she had been tracked down by the surviving half-breed children that Ross had fathered during his sexual escapades after his mutation, all of which had resulted in the brutal deaths of the mothers when the children were born, bursting their way out of their stomachs in a matter of hours after conception.
These children, however, had been born with weak immune systems, leading to their eventual deaths. Sara was different, possessing none of these weaknesses or immune deficiencies. And though she had just as large of a sex drive and desire to mate as the rest of her kind, her instincts to not have children that would suffer the same symptoms as her half-siblings prevented her from taking just any mate, not even one of her half-siblings, even though incest and inbreeding was apparently not an issue for their kind.
A solution to this was provided. After the death of Dr. Abbot, one of his students, Dean, who had gotten involved in Abbot and Sara’s affairs, managed to create a mate for Sara using genetic material from one of Ross’ children so that Sara wouldn’t be lonely, and the two of them had gone out into the world together. Unbeknownst to either of them though, Dean had taken precautions and made Sara’s mate sterile so there would be no offspring, thus eliminating any threat to the human race that they might present.
However, it seemed that the scientist in Dean could not be satisfied. Making Sara’s mate sterile wasn’t the only secret he had kept from her. He had also managed to salvage one of her eggs, just in case, along with some of her mate’s sperm prior to sterilizing him. He just couldn’t bring himself to entirely cut off the possibility of any future for the alien species.
Which is what eventually led to Alice. Dean had kept both Sara’s egg and her mate’s sperm preserved. When the time eventually came, he passed them and all his research on to another fellow trusted scientist, who later did the same, the process repeating again and again over time. Eventually, after being passed around for several decades, they found their way into the hands of a scientist who worked for the Weyland-Yutani Corporation, more commonly known simply as the Company.
For nearly a century, the Company, back before the merger when it was simply the Weyland Corporation, had been obsessed with finding alien life. Over the course of a century, the Company had been attempting to get their hands on an alien species, but all attempts had failed. With that track record, the Company had been unable to resist once Sara’s egg and her mate’s sperm fell into their possession. Finally having obtained a specimen they could use, they had set out to bring the alien life to fruition.
Alice was the result of that union, her title of Subject 4G2A referring to her being the fourth generation of the Species race, and the second of the pure strand after Sara, the A in her title standing for her being the first, and only, of Sara and her mate’s offspring. But having at least learned from the past reports regarding Sil, Eve, Ross, and Sara, the Company decided to take greater precautions, and so had sent her and a team of scientists up to the Atlas to prevent any repeats of the past. As an added precaution, very few males had been chosen to be part of the different teams that interacted with her.
Despite looking like she was in her twenties, Alice was, in all actuality, only six years old. However, she had the full mentality of a grown woman, and was highly intelligent, seemingly able to absorb knowledge through touch alone. This level of physical and mental maturity meant she was fully capable of mating and breeding, and had been for years already. Of the four teams that had been part of the project thus far, only five of the members had been male. For the current team, there was only Scotts and one other male named Jason Rogers. The only reason any men were allowed on the team at all was for interactive research purposes with Alice.
Scotts was aware of all this, and he had never forgotten any of it, not even during his interactions with Alice when she came across as completely human. So Fritz’s need to rub what Alice actually was in both their faces was completely unnecessary.
But as the two scientists stared at Alice’s alien form, Fritz turned back to Scotts with a smug look on her face that held just as much condescension as before. “Do you see that? That is what it really is. It’s not human. That pretty face is just a means to an end. You would remember that if your thought with the head on your shoulders rather than the one in your pants.”
Scotts held his tongue. It wasn’t the first time Fritz that had made a sexist comment, and she made it no secret of her dislike of men in general. It was only her desire to be professional that she tolerated both his and Rogers’ presence on the Atlas at all since they were well suited for their positions.
“I haven’t forgotten anything,” he said in response to her comment.
Fritz’s nostrils flared, not liking how she had contradicted him. “She’s using you. All this is manipulation on her part because she wants to get in your pants. She doesn’t actually care about you in the least, she just wants to mate and breed; it doesn’t matter with who as long as they’re suitable. That’s her nature. So don’t be fooled into thinking you’re anything special. She’ll do the same for anyone with a dick and balls. And once she has what she wants from you, she’ll kill you. So stop letting her lead you around by your cock and remember why you’re here. There’s going to be a meeting tonight, and it’s mandatory. So get your act together.”
Holding her chin up, she marched out of the room. Scotts sighed and looked back at Alice, still in her alien form. She seemed to curl in on herself, looking somewhat ashamed. Scotts felt sorry for her. While most of the time Alice came across as emotionless, like some kind of android that hadn’t been properly programmed, she did display genuine emotion around him. And despite knowing what she was, he believed those emotions were sincere, and not part of some grand scheme to manipulate him. That wasn’t an irrational conclusion either, he had come to realize this over the course of the 17 months he had been assigned to the project. And while Fritz was right in saying that Alice was an alien, she was also ignoring the fact that she was also part human.
“Yeesh, I heard that,” a new voice spoke up, drawing Scotts’ attention. “The ice queen strikes again, I see.”
Scotts turned around to see Dr. Jason Rogers, the only other male on the Atlas, a good-natured man with a sense of humor that more than once got him into trouble, particularly with Fritz. The man was a genius though, and good at what he did, thus earning him his position on the team.
Letting out a sigh, Scotts leaned back in his seat. “She’s certainly as cold-hearted as ever.”
A large mocking smile spread across Rogers’ face. “She really needs to get laid. That’ll thaw her out a bit. I might be willing if she wasn’t such a bitch all the time.”
Scotts raised an eyebrow at that. “You do remember that she’s a misandrist, and she’s into women, don’t you?”
The grin on Rogers’ face grew larger. “That’s what I’m saying, man; she’s not getting any dick. It’s no wonder she’s cold and bitchy.”
Scotts’ eyes narrowed in disapproval. “Are you aware that that sounds incredibly chauvinistic?”
Rogers held up his hands defensively. “Hey, I never said there was anything wrong with it. I was simply making a scientific observation. Besides,” he smirked, “it just means she and I like the same thing.”
Scotts shook his head, but he couldn’t help but crack a smile. Rogers may have come across as crude at times, but he wasn’t a bad guy. And his remark about Fritz’s sexuality did bring up something that Scotts had been suspicious of. Having taken up a minor in psychology, he had gotten good at reading people, and based on Fritz’s interaction and behavior towards Alice, he greatly suspected that part of the reason she was likely so harsh when it came to her was because she was greatly attracted to Alice as well, and her constant reference to her as an ‘it’, and refusing to see her as anything more than a test subject was her own way of dealing with her own desires. And her treatment of Scotts could also have been jealousy related. Of course, he would never mention any of this to anyone.
Rogers’ gaze shifted to Alice, who had resumed her human form, and was now holding her hospital gown to her chest. Scotts raised an eyebrow at this display of modesty. With the Species having a libido that surpassed a hormonal, drunken, teenage sex addict high on an aphrodisiac, records of her predecessors never really showed any shyness when it came to their bodies.
Alice hadn’t either, not for the first few months before the two of them had started really interacting, and with a body like hers, she had absolutely nothing to be shy about. In fact, now that he thought about it, she never displayed any shyness around him, which made him suspect that it was Rogers’ presence that had her feeling shy. But why would she be shy around Rogers and not him.
Which posed the question, if this really was all an act, and she was simply trying to manipulate them in some way in order to gain a mate, then why would she hide herself from Rogers’ eyes? Wouldn’t she want to attract him? When it came to choosing the best mate, as Alice’s species was inclined to do, or at least not choose one who was sick or weak, then Rogers was clearly the better choice over him. Scotts reluctantly admitted that Rogers was better looking and in better shape than he was, while Scotts was more on the skinny and scrawny side in comparison. And if one of them were more likely to give into the temptations that she put out, then it would most likely be Rogers.
And speaking of Rogers, he was not immune to Alice’s appeal, and was currently staring at her with open lust. “Still hard to believe that such a gorgeous body is nothing more than camouflage, so to speak. If she were human, I’d definitely hit that.”
Noticing something out of the corner of his eye, Scotts smirked. “Careful, what if Trina caught you drooling over someone other than her?”
Rogers smirked in amusement. “She could ask to join in. I’d be open to a threesome.”
The words were barely out of his mouth before an open palm smacked the back of his head. “Who says I’d be open to a threesome?”
Trina Sanders, another member of the team, stood behind Rogers with her arms crossed and a look of disapproval on her face. She was rather cute in a nerdy way with her shoulder length straight black hair and a thick pair of glasses that gave her a rather librarian look, though she couldn’t hold a candle to Alice; as if any human could.
Rogers turned to her and grinned impishly. “It was just a suggestion, babe.”
“Don’t call me ‘babe’,” she said in response to his attempt to pacify her.
Smirking, Scotts shook his head. The interactions between Rogers and Sanders was always amusing to watch. Everyone on the Atlas knew that they were sleeping together. They weren’t a couple, not really, but they were co-workers with benefits, so to speak, and their relationship was strictly physical, and almost expected since they were isolated on a space station for almost two and a half years. Alice was aware of their relationship as well, and a look of jealousy and envy for what they had and what she was deprived of was apparent.
“Any particular reason you’re here?” Scotts asked, interrupting the two.
Sanders turned to him. “I was coming to tell you that Dr. Fritz had a message for you.”
Scotts nodded. “She already gave it, but thanks.”
“And she was a right bitch about it,” Rogers added.
Sanders looked like she was resisting the urge to roll her eyes. “So she was her normal, pleasant self.”
“More or less,” Scotts replied. “Did she tell you what the meeting was about?”
Sanders gave a shrug. “Something about some new specimen being delivered, but she wouldn’t say any more.”
Scotts’ eyebrows rose into his bangs. “A new specimen? Since when? What is it?”
He received a shrug in response. “Don’t know. Dr. Fritz was only just informed herself. I’m guessing that’s what the meeting is going to be about. We’ll apparently be informed in full when the new team arrives with the specimen.”
Rogers rubbed his hands together eagerly. “Fresh meat. I’ll be looking forward to it.”
A sigh of disgust escaped Sanders and she turned to leave. “That kind of talk is part of the reason why Dr. Fritz hates men.”
The smile fell from Rogers’ face. “I was talking about the specimen!” he called after her, hurrying out of the room after her.
As Sanders called back that no one could ever tell with him, Scotts sat back in his seat, thinking about this new development. A new specimen? That was certainly a surprise. It couldn’t have been Alice’s species, Sara’s egg and her mate’s sperm had been all that were left of them. Had a new alien species been discovered? If so, was it dangerous? Was that why it was being brought to the Atlas rather than Earth.
Letting out a sigh, he stood up and glanced back at Alice, who was watching him with intent. He gave her an apologetic smile. “Guess we’ll have to cut our chat short today. And with a new specimen coming, I’ll probably be even busier than usual, but I promise to still make time for you.”
She didn’t say anything, but he could see the disappointment in her eyes. He gave her a reassuring smile and made to turn off the speaker, but her next words stopped him. “She was wrong, you know.”
Scotts looked up at her, not sure what she was referring to. “What do you mean?”
Alice had still been holding the hospital gown to her chest, but now she let it drop, letting him see all of her. Her shyness from before was gone, and she was staring at him with what could only be described as a look of hunger. “I don’t want just anyone for a mate.”
She didn’t say anymore, but the implications were enough to get her point across. She then placed her hand against the window, the lustful look on her usually neutral face becoming one of longing. Scotts felt sympathetic towards her and placed his hand on top of her over the glass.
She stared at their hands for a few seconds before saying, “I wish this glass didn’t separate us. I wish you could let me out.”
Warning bells went off in Scotts’ head. While he did believe that Alice was more genuine than Fritz believed her to be, it was behavior like this and the things she said sometimes that made him suspect that she was indeed trying to manipulate him at times. Of course, it would be natural for anyone to not want to be locked up and to want to be around others and have physical affection, but how much was that a natural desire on her part and how much was it her deliberately manipulating the situation so she could get a mate?
A look of frustration suddenly crossed her face, and she let out a bellow of rage and slammed her fist against the glass. Scotts jumped back on reflex, startled by her sudden aggressive display. He knew she was much stronger than a normal person, but he also knew that four inches of metallic glass that was even harder than steel separated them; there was no way she would be able to break it. But still, her aggression served as a reminder of something that was easy to forget; she was dangerous.
Letting out a sigh, he made to turn off the speaker. “I’ll come back and see you later.”
She didn’t say anything in response as he shut off the speaker. She did, however, keep watching him, even when he turned his back on her and walked out of the room, closing the door behind him.
(A/N: So, there's the first chapter. It's basically a set-up for the events to come and an introduction to the characters. We'll be meeting more characters later and getting to know them as well, and and we'll be learning more about the characters who have appeared thus far too. Just remember what I said, the thoughts and personalities of these characters are not my own. So like Fritz's man-hating nature or Rogers' chauvinistic personality, I do not share these views, that's just part of their character, and I don't share their opinions and such. So, let me know what you think of the first chapter, and I'll be back with more, so stay tuned.)
