“After all these years, the stars still fascinate you?”
“How long has it been since I’ve been here?” She turned
around to look at him. Every time he walked out of the shower he shook his
locks, swinging water all over the large bedroom. She leaned against the window
as she laughed at the large Yautja that stood in front of her. She was the only
one who could laugh at him. If anyone else attempted to laugh at him they would
be nursing a wounded face or stomach.
He lifted her up in
his arms, tenderly removing her hair from her face. He remembered the first
time he saw her. She hadn’t aged since she had been on the ship. Her hand
gently caressed his face, wondering what was going on behind those deep green
eyes. Since they first mated her soft touch remained the same and her love for
him was still strong. He laid her down gently on the bed she still had to hop
on due to her size. Each time he touched
her it still made her smile and shake softly and every time he smelled her
scent he would fight to control his urges to take her.
He knew she liked it slow and on some occasions, extremely
rough. He could tell in her eyes what she wanted. He stared at her a moment
longer. He took in a deep breath before lying back in bed. Tonight his mate
just wanted to be held and he was happy to comply.
She playfully sat on his stomach. A long groan came from
his body and his hands went behind his head as he watched her with intrigue. Maybe
I read her signals wrong this time, he pondered. She kissed on his chest
going down lower each time. “If you’re going to do what I think you’re going to
do I should advise you that I will get rough,” he warned as he watched her kiss
lovingly on his stomach.
“You warn me each time,” she smiled. Her nails scraped his
skin, from his shoulder down to his stomach. He groaned in pleasure. Her warm
wet mouth made contact with him and he started to moan loudly. He never could
take her teasing. His sex was extremely sensitive when it came to her tongue
and touch mixed together.
She felt his large hands grab hold of her arms and roughly
throw her back on the bed. She started to laugh softly at how his breathing was
already sporadic as he stared down into her face.
His eyes adverted down to her breasts. That was the only
thing on her body that grew and he loved it. Sometimes he would turn off the
lights during their mating because if he watched them shake, their mating was
over quicker than it started.
“You never answered my question.”
“You’ve been here thirty years,” He growled as he yanked
open her legs. He groaned at the beautiful sight he never seemed to stop
enjoying. In between her legs were his stars. His eyes shined brightly every
time he looked at her.
“That long?”
“Every time I look at you Kayla, it seems like we just
mated yesterday,” Sh’lok groaned. “Now stop talking.”
That night, after Sh’lok once again filled her with joy
Kayla thought back to everything that happened to her. From the time Maha’vin
marked her until now. She thought about Earth from time to time. Mostly when
her kids wanted to hear about it, but she had never dreamed of going back. A
few times she was able to see it, but the ship was much too large to stay off
earth’s radar. Kayla had learned and had seen so much over the years. Once she
learned to read their language she was overwhelmed with their history. Sh’lok
would watch her sit in one spot for hours as she learned more about them. When she started to learn more about their
anatomy Sh’lok allowed her to poke and prod at him for one day. After that, he
made her use the kids for her curiosity. Nam’rah quizzed her on the elder’s
language everyday. She perfected the language years ago, but they wanted more.
Sh’lok expected a lot from her as well. When he came to her with the idea,
Kayla was dead set against it. She and Sh’lok argued for weeks over it, until
they came to a conclusion together. If they did this and they were successful,
they would be leaders and their son or daughter would take their place someday.
The technology meant nothing to Kayla. It was the assurance that her children
would be safe, protected and well respected.
When Sh’lok was sound asleep Kayla got up to take one more
look at her quarters. Sa’tesh thought her and Sh’lok were ready for the next
step. Taking control of the second ship. Ne’el was fine with the idea and even
welcomed it. Since his father gave him the responsibility he rarely found time
to hunt. He agreed to stay as an advisor until Kayla and Sh’lok learned
everything. Ne’el would then return to his father’s ship with his mate, and
children and go on a long overdue hunt. Sa’tesh figured the Jafren would have
many questions and he wanted to make sure Sh’lok and Kayla knew the answers.
Kayla opened the door slowly to her daughter’s room. She smiled every time she looked at her. At
twenty-five, she still didn’t know if she wanted to be a breeder or warrior. A
lot of males on the ship were hoping for her to breed. Each time a potential
male would try to get close to her Ra’tul, Kul’vir’s first son would fight them
away. He was just as strong and protective as his father once was with Kayla.
It amazed Sh’lok and Kayla how protective he was towards Su’tara. They secretly
wondered if it was sibling protectiveness or him just being a cousin and good
friend. Kul’vir wondered the same thing. Su’tara decided to have her hair
locked when she was going through her ‘I want to be a warrior’ phase. She had
it done at the same time as Ra’tul and Shra’van. By her being a female they
expected her to howl in pain during each session, but she never shed a tear
until she was alone in her mother’s arms. Su’tara refused to give any of the
males the satisfaction of seeing her tears. Her latest phase, she wants to be a
breeder.
Kayla closed her door and checked on her son. He troubled
her terribly. She knew it was because she was human and some males taunted him
because of it. Shra’van wanted nothing to do with humans, and sometimes, that
included his mother. As he grew up he tested Kayla twice when Sh’lok wasn’t
around. Each time she smacked him so hard he would stumble back before emitting
a low angry growl. Kayla would react by angrily cursing at him in English. In
return Shra’van would walk away. Sh’lok sparred with him on several occasions.
He respected his father completely, but for Kayla, she was afraid she too would
have to spar with her child to earn his respect. The last thing he said that troubled
her greatly was he couldn’t wait for his first hunt on the backwater planet.
Then, there was her little one, Ta’noj. He was her last
child and the closest to her heart. At fifteen his heart was as open as his
father’s, and just like his father he was excellent at hiding it. He vowed to
her one day that he would never be an ass like his older brother. He prided
himself on learning different weapons and mastering hunting skills like his
father. Ta’noj was still fairly weak at fighting but, he couldn’t wait for his
first hunt. He assured his mother that would not include humans unless they
were bad. Like Shra’van, he looked completely Yautja. And, like Su’tara, he
knew how to speak English. Something Shra’van refused to learn. Kayla watched
him sleep and smiled. The funny thing about her children was they were all so
different in there own way, yet they all watched out for each other. Kayla
smiled when she felt Sh’lok’s arm go around her waist. She looked at Ta’noj
once more before closing his door.
On the way to the other ship Shra’van decided he would
like to go with Kul’vir and his family rather than riding with his own. Sh’lok
wanted to strangle his son sometimes and this time was one of them. Ra’tul
eased the tension by saying he wished to join Sh’lok’s family for the seven day
journey.
“I will see you again very soon,” Nam’rah assured Kayla as
she walked them to their ship. She no longer talked to her in Yautja. It was
always the elder’s language. Nam’rah noticed the worried look on her face every
time she looked at Shra’van. He turned to look at his mother before walking
aboard Kul’vir’s ship. “Don’t worry Kayla. He is going through a phase. That’s
the sign of a great warrior, agitation.”
Kayla shook her head in disbelief before she turned to give
Nam’rah her undivided attention. “Nam’rah, he really doesn’t like ooman’s,”
Kayla crossed her arms as she looked back again. She wished he would have at
least given her a hug or shook her shoulder. Shra’van would barely touch her.
“He will grow to love and respect you,” Nam’rah purred.
She gently shook Kayla’s shoulder. “Are you still taking the pills Pahel given
you? It’s been fifteen years since your last pup.”
“I thought, after we acquire the Jafren’s technology I
will presume my duties.”
Nam’rah nodded before looking up to see Su’tara walking
towards them. She started to speak in Yautja again. “My confused grandchild,”
Nam’rah teased. Su’tara gave her a hug. “I will see you soon Su’tara, but
please tell me, have you chosen your path?”
“Well since we will be on a new ship I was thinking about
being a breeder,” she said smiling at her grandmother. “But I thought I would
start off being a warrior first.” Kayla laughed at her and Nam’rah let out a
groan.
“Su’tara is confused again?” Ra’tul teased as he walked up
to Nam’rah. Su’tara tried to hit him but he moved away quick enough to make her
stumble. When he laughed at her she started to growl before chasing him around
the ship.
“Father told me to come get you,” Ta’noj turned to see his
sister pin Ra’tul on the ground. He trilled softly.
“Beg for your life!” she yelled at him.
“She reminds me so much of you,” Nam’rah laughed as she
watched Ra’tul angrily roar at her.
“Please tell me my mother never acted like that,” Ta’noj
sighed.
“You had never seen your mother fight?”
“Her and Father go sparring at night,” Ta’noj shook his
head. “So no, I haven’t.” They watched Ra’tul as he was finally able to push
Su’tara off of him. She ran onto the ship laughing.
“Father, please tell Ra’tul to stop playing,” Su’tara
laughed.
“Both of you strap yourselves in,” he growled. Sh’lok was
a good pilot but his main skills were mastering weapons and hand to hand
combat. This ship was new to him. It was a family cruiser. They weren’t much
for defense, but mainly observation of different planets. It consisted of the
basic Yautja necessities, two bathrooms, three living quarters, a place to hang
fresh kills for dehydration, trophy room, weapons area and a small sparring
room. He pressed a series of buttons on the large panel in front of him. Sh’lok
purred when he sensed his mate enter the ship. Kayla sat next to him and felt
on his cheek for a moment. He stopped what he was doing and welcomed her touch.
Kayla remembered when she first went out on a smaller ship with him. He tried
to impress her by going fast and doing various evasive maneuvers. He later
regretted it when they were both cleaning her lunch off of his control panels.
“Need I remind you of no sudden turns,” Kayla giggled.
Sh’lok groaned at the thought. The doors closed and the sounds of air pressure
were heard throughout the ship. Sh’lok looked over at Kayla to make sure she
was fastened in safely. He then looked back at Ra’tul and Su’tara whom were
still playing. They didn’t notice him staring as they traded punches in the
arm. Ra’tul punched her in the arm and she didn’t flinch. Damn she’s tough,
Sh’lok thought to himself. He knew she would weep about it later to her mother,
but she never allowed anyone else to know how sensitive she really was. He
looked over at Ta’noj whom was staring back at him. They both gave each other a
nod. Sh’lok turned back around and took off causing the two playful Yautja’s to
fall back in their seat before crashing on the floor.
“Father,” Su’tara whined.
“I told you to strap in,” he trilled softly. Ta’noj
laughed at both of them as they tried to regain their balance. Su’tara punched
him in the side before growling at him. Sh’lok pressed a few more buttons
before setting the ship on autopilot. He saw Kul’vir’s ship on his radar and
tilted his head to the side as he calculated for a moment. Sh’lok realized
Kul’vir would arrive several hours before him.
Kayla noticed the
concerned look on his face. “Is everything ok?” Kayla touched his hand to get
his attention.
He looked at her. “Yes, Kul’vir pilots the ships too
fast.”
“He’s a pilot,” Kayla undid the safety harness and stood
up. “Going fast is his thing.”
“His thing,” he chuckled as he looked at her. He stood up
and felt on Kayla’s face. “His thing should be the safety of his family and my
son.”
“He is safe Sh’lok,” Ra’tul assured him. “My father is an
excellent pilot.”
“I know,” Sh’lok nodded. “You two boys, let’s spar.”
“I wish to spar too,” Su’tara stood up.
“No, you can not, you decided to be a breeder again,
remember,” Ra’tul joked.
“Well I changed my mind,” she stammered.
“One mind change a day,” Kayla chuckled at her confused
daughter. She looked over at Sh’lok. “You are sure you wish to spar now?”
“I have a lot of energy.” He looked at Kayla and growled
playfully.
“Well, don’t use it all,” Kayla said softly.
“I don’t think these rooms are soundproof,” Sh’lok talked
in a low tone.
“I don’t understand why they whisper,” Ta’noj said loud
enough for Sh’lok and Kayla to look over at him. “It’s not like our hearing is inadequate.”
He unfastened himself from his seat and stood up.
“He’s right,” Su’tara laughed. “Mother it’s not like we’ve
never heard you before.” Su’tara started
to imitate her mother during her sexual peek.
Kayla’s mouth opened in shock. Sh’lok thought it was quite
amusing. “Wow, she can imitate you extremely well.” Kayla huffed and hit
Sh’lok’s arm before looking at her snickering children.
“I will beat you all if my,” Kayla thought for a moment.
“Bedroom sounds, are mentioned or mimicked again.” Su’tara sighed at her
threat. She threatened them once a week for something or another.
The males started to head towards the sparring room. “What
does ‘oh my god, you’re killing me, harder, harder’ mean?” Ra’tul questioned.
“Is that Kayla’s ooman language?” Sh’lok shook his head and laughed. Kayla
taught him how to speak her language years ago and he wasn’t about to explain
Kayla’s words.
Su’tara made sure they were out of hearing range before
she went to her mother. “I need something for my arm Mom,” she whined softly as
she raised her dress to show her the bruises on her arm and legs from playing
with Ra’tul. Kayla touched her arm and she flinched. Just a moment ago she was
laughing like she was perfectly fine.
“I will in no way understand you Su’tara,” Kayla sighed as
they walked down the short corridor to her and Sh’lok’s quarters. The rooms
were decorated in the vibrant colors as the larger ship. The pearl color
reminded her of Ga’gan’s room when she first seen it. Kayla walked over to the
wall and pressed a small silver button. A large drawer opened in front of her
and she took out a small jar with a salve Pahel made especially for Su’tara.
“Pahel says this will get rid of the pain almost instantly and the bruise
within a few hours.” Su’tara whimpered
each time Kayla touched her. “If it hurts so much why do you do it?”
“If anyone should understand it should be you,” she winced
as her mother applied more salve to her tender skin. “I have much to prove
since I’m different.”
Kayla sighed as she stared at her. Su’tara was beautiful.
Her skin remained dark since they left the planet, her eyes were still a golden
color and her locks hung down past her shoulders. Su’tara was heavier in muscle
than Kayla and the same height. “I thought when you were younger I should teach
you how to fight, remember?”
“Of course,” she made a soft clicking noise. Kayla was
amazed that although she had no mandibles she could emit the same noises as any
other Yautja. “You taught me a lot. That’s why I like to fight now.”
“And it was a mistake,” Kayla sat next to her. “Sh’lok
told me that you had to find your own way and I never allowed that, or I did
rather, when it was too late.”
“Mom,” Su’tara shook her head in disbelief. “Ok, I will
tell you the truth.” She trilled and laughed before she continued. “I like the
attention. I love walking in the sparring rooms and the male Yautja’s turn to
look at me. They give me that ‘this half breed knows nothing’ look. Then when I
kick their ass…” Su’tara covered her mouth. “Sorry, I mean butts I get this
great respect from them. They start to see me as an above average female
Yautja. When I announce I wish to breed I know I will have no problems in
finding a mate of my choice. Not one that is simply handed to me out of pity.”
Kayla gasped for a moment before she started to laugh.
“Well I guess I shouldn’t worry about you after all,”
Kayla shook her head. “My smart girl. Come help me cook.”
“No way, I have to go watch them spar.”
Kayla folded her arms giving Su’tara a skeptical look.
“Please Mom.” Kayla thought it was cute that she would only call her mom if
they were alone with each other. Su’tara told her calling her mother was more
respectable. Kayla nodded her head and she ran off.
Kayla walked into the kitchen and dining room combo. She
put on the large gloves before pressing a button on the wall. A large freezer
door opened. The sub zero temperatures would have frozen her hands almost
instantly. Upon closing the door she quickly placed the meat into a microwave
type device. It thawed everything out within five seconds. She learned to cook
through Nam’rah. Even on her planet Kayla wasn’t a great cook. She just knew
how to fry some meat that was suitable to her taste. Kayla was grateful that
there was an abundance of fruit on the ship just in case.
Su’tara sat on the floor in the sparring room as she
watched her cousin and brother spar. Her brother was ok, but her cousin had
more experience and was the same age as Su’tara. “He is doing well for his
age,” Sh’lok sat next to Su’tara as they watched them.
“He will get killed easily fighting like that,” she
growled. She started to yell at her brother. “I’ve seen pup’s fight better than
you!” He stopped and looked at her, giving Ra’tul sufficient time to kick him
to the floor with a hard thump. Sh’lok shook his head in disbelief.
“She distracted me,” Ta’noj growled angrily.
“That’s just it boy, you are never to be distracted,”
Sh’lok yelled at him. “Distraction is weakness in every aspect of life. Not
just fighting.”
“Oh,” Ta’noj walked closer to his father. “I’ve seen
Mother distract you on numerous occasions.” Su’tara trilled softly before
laughing.
“Your mate is always an exception,” Sh’lok mumbled as he
stood up to spar with Ra’tul.
“You’re awful,” Su’tara teased her brother as he sat next
to her. She punched him in his stomach softly.
“Shut up,” he growled as he watched his father fight and
capture Ra’tul’s combistick with ease. He threw it back to him before they
continued. Ta’noj loved watching his father spar. He had seen him pinned on
several occasions and it was only when his mother walked in the room. His
father was caught off guard by her presence. He fought as though he knew
exactly what someone was going to do before they did it. To make it worse,
Ta’noj noticed how his father would make a series of click noises when his
opponent laid weak on the ground. He too wanted to learn how to taunt people
with just the mere sound of a click. Ta’noj looked over at his sister who
intensely watched them fight. She observed them as if she was memorizing the
moves. Su’tara turned to look at her brother staring at her.
“What,” she growled. He didn’t say anything to her.
Su’tara sighed. “Tonight I will teach you.”
“Do you think Shra’van is sparring now?” Ta’noj
questioned.
“Again,” Kul’vir growled at Shra’van. “This time, charge
at me!” Shra’van punched Kul’vir’s shoulder before attempting to sweep his
feet. Kul’vir jumped, not knowing it was a ploy to knock him over. “Very good
Shra’van. Your father taught you well.”
“You taught me well,” he growled as he reached his hand
out to Kul’vir. “My father is too busy being a father to teach me anything.”
“Well this is a very important mission for him,” Kul’vir
sighed as he leaned back against the cool wall in the sparring hall. “You
wanted to come along with me. Are you alright with your family?”
“My mother gives me this look everyday, like she’s
disappointed in me,” he admitted. “I don’t like being around her. My father
doesn’t seem to care.”
“Well I care Shra’van,” he nodded. “You know if it is
difficulty in your quarters you are always welcomed to mine. I know you are not
old enough for your own quarters as of yet.”
Shra’van looked over at Kul’vir and nodded. “Thank you
Kul’vir,” he stood up. “You have always treated me like one of your sons. I
appreciate it. Maybe someday I will have a normal family.” He walked out of the
room, not hearing Kul’vir’s soft trill. He knew Shra’van’s bond with him
deepened. Over the years Kul’vir’s silent anger for Sh’lok grew. Every moment
with his father was spent hearing the praises of Sh’lok and Kayla. It surprised
Kul’vir that his father didn’t start calling Sh’lok ‘son’. Kul’vir was outraged
when Sh’lok requested him and his family to join him, but he nodded and
graciously accepted. Now he was heading to a ship that he should have been
leader of instead of Sh’lok. He vowed to bring him down years ago and he felt
his plans working perfectly. Sh’lok’s son will be calling him father any day
now.
