He had always been a bit spoiled. Kei supposed that was his
fault because he’d do anything the teen had ever asked of him. Those big brown
eyes, changing over time with the help of specialty blue contact lenses, could
make him temporarily forget what he was, a lonely soul who would spend eternity
alone.
What did remind him of his companion’s frailties was each
time a gun went off, each time he fell sick, each time he was injured because
of something all too stupid for him to have been caught up in. Kei supposed
that he was far too nice for being what he was. It was a fact of the matter,
though, that he did care… too much even. He shouldn’t, but he did.
For a while… maybe only hours really, he had hated the boy.
The young thing that dragged his dead weight through the abandoned warehouse to
a place devoid of the direct glare of the sun. He remembered almost being force
fed something from a can the orphan child had before his real meal had shown
up. He thought at the time that the boy would run once he saw what he did, but…
Sho stayed. He stayed and smiled and he wasn’t afraid.
From then on everything had changed.
“Kei… Kei!” A voice shocked him out of his reverie, insistent
and with a touch of a whine. Sho had never seemed to outgrow some of his
childish tendencies.
Finally turning to the voice that demanded his full
attention, Kei raised an eyebrow. “What?” At his deadpanned tone, Sho frowned
further and proceeded to stick his tongue out at Kei. “And you want me to help
you, acting like that...?” Kei asked, drawing his words out slowly, evenly. He
was never in a rush and his tone never faltered.
“Kei, you promised.” Sho pointed out unnecessarily as he
came over, placing his two handguns into their holsters once more. “It worked
the other day…” He continued to try and coax the vampire into agreeing, but Kei
just shook his head no.
“I told you… it was a one time thing. I’m not helping you to
go put yourself in danger again.” Kei’s voice was pointed as he took out a
cigarette and lit it while he paced the floor. He had to admit to himself that
to some extent, they worked well as a team. Sho’s drive and passion for
becoming something more versus his own indifference and his power. And most
importantly, he could protect Sho better than anyone else could.
“But… Kei!” Sho pleaded as he sunk down onto the other’s
bed. “I need you.” Sho finally sighed out, slumped over with his elbows on his
knees and his head in his hands. Those words were enough to break Kei’s cold
heart… but still. There were other factors at play here.
In a split second motion, Kei flicked his wrist and the
cigarette in it went flying straight for Sho’s hand. “Catch it.” Kei said and
watched as the teen jumped in surprise and fumbled, the lit stick falling into
his palm instead of between his fingers like he’d thrown it to.
“Itai!” In seconds Sho was cursing, yelling at the pain of
the burn while the forgotten cigarette fell to the floor. Holding his injured
hand to his chest, a few colorful words were directed at Kei who just looked
entirely bored with the situation… and pleased with himself.
“See… it doesn’t matter what I say when I help you. We’re
not connected as we should be. You don’t know how I think or how I move, and
you don’t trust me. I’m not going to put you in danger thinking that you can’t
be harmed just because I’m there.” Kei replied with ease as he made his way
back to his occupied bed and laid down, using his legs to push Sho further to
the side.
Grumbling in mild admittance, Sho turned and rested one leg
over both of his partner’s as the other tucked underneath his body. He tended
to his hand as his eyes met and kept Kei’s stare. Unflinching, unmoving.
Reluctant to break their gaze, Sho finally blinked and sighed. “Well… why can’t
we learn to be connected?” His questions somehow always held that touch of non
existent innocence.
Kei was never one to help or contribute to a child’s
delinquency, but really… If he was asked too many more times, then he would.
“Because… you’re just a kid.” Was Kei’s final, half hearted and he knew it
wasn’t going to last long. That excuse. Sho was rapidly approaching 20 and he
could no longer think of the other, taller, man as a teen and subsequently a kid
any longer.
“If I’m still a kid why do you let me go out into the
streets alone at night? Why am I even allowed to walk out the door then?” Sho’s
questions were slowly tiring Kei out. To be honest, Sho was never alone, at
least in the dark of night. Kei’s sometimes felt a bit like a stalker, the way
he tracked and followed Sho’s every move. He let the younger boy learn from his
mistakes, but if there had ever been any sort of fatal encounter, he would have
stopped it. He had before… discretely so Sho did not know.
Because of his babying… Sho was now beginning to think he
was invincible, and that only proved more work for Kei and the possibility of
him getting into trouble in the daylight. Some time that Kei could not be there
to save him. “Fine.” Kei replied after a lengthy silence had passed between
them. “But… this is more than just learning to fight with me. You have to learn
to anticipate my moves; you have to know me on every level, and trust me.”
Sho gave him a blank look and raised his eyebrows. “I’ve
always trusted you, Kei~” he pointed out, drawing out the vowels of Kei’s name
playfully. But becoming more serious, Sho shifted just a bit so he could look
at his companion better. “So… where do we begin?”
“Sho… what do you know about me? The way I fight? The way I
move? My personality?” That provoked a hum of thoughtfulness from Sho, who
moved around again until he was able to snatch a cigarette from Kei’s stash at
the bedside. Setting it between his lips, he looked around for the lighter, but
found it wasn’t in its usual place.
“You’re a vampire… so you can’t be killed. You can fly and
you tend to be defensive, dodging as much as you can until you finish someone
with a swift blow. Your movements are extremely fast, but also catlike. Your
reflexes can’t be surpassed. Your personality… you’re detached, distant and
observing.” Sho said at length, his words drawing out in spaces as he thought
between each statement.
“I… don’t fly so much as… float from one destination to the
next.” Kei took his lighter out of his pocket and lit it, holding it up to the
cigarette between Sho’s lips only long enough to get it to light. Reaching over
with his free hand, the older man took the stick away and set it between his
own lips. “I don’t kill; I disable those I fight so I have a meal. I must drink
blood just as you must eat. If I don’t, I become weak and vulnerable. Who is to
say I won’t drink yours?”
“You wouldn’t!” Sho declared harshly, interrupting Kei’s
lesson on himself. “If you wanted to, you’d have done it by now. Don’t be so
heartless, Kei… I know you don’t care very much, but at least pretend like you
do if you’re going to stay.” The look on the teenager’s face was extremely
crestfallen as he spoke and he just turned away, his long legs hanging over the
side of the bed once more.
With a squeak of the bed, Kei adjusted himself, setting his
cigarette into its ashtray, and leaned up to a sitting position. “Pretend like
I care?” he questioned Sho’s statement and then gave a wry chuckle. “One thing
you need to know, Sho… I don’t pretend. I do care no matter how much I know I
shouldn’t because one day you’re going to be gone. I will still be here,
though.”
“Then change me.” Sho’s response was quiet, delicate, but it
was something Kei began to realize the other had been thinking of for some
time. Sho wanted this… curse?
“I’m not changing you.” Kei was definite in his response as
he reached up and caught Sho’s chin between his fingers, drawing it around so
they were facing one another again. So many emotions were flickering in Sho’s
ice blue depths and Kei wasn’t sure what to do about any of it.
A nod in response to what Kei said was all he received in
the end and a sigh fell from his lips as he pulled Sho into him.
“I care… that’s why I’m not changing you.” He elaborated and
then the proximity between them was suddenly realized. Faces… lips only inches
apart.
Now… Kei had realized in his many years how comforting
another presence could be. Luka had taught him that before he decided that this
life he shared with Kei was suddenly too much for him. He knew how such a
connection with a man was different than a woman. Sho, however… was mostly
innocent to the ways of this sort of love.
Perhaps it wasn’t even love.
“Kei…?” The question fell from confused lips as those same
bright eyes from earlier looked up at the weary vampire. Begging, pleading eyes
that he couldn’t quite get enough of seeing these days. Not realizing himself
what he was doing, Kei closed the distance between himself and the other.
Parted lips against the corner of the younger’s lips then moving to capture
them at length, Kei realized that this was… in fact one of the best ways to
connect.
Most heartbreaking, though, if things went too far
emotionally.
Moving vulnerably into Kei’s body, Sho’s hands found
themselves pressed against the vampire’s chest, moving up around his shoulders
as they kissed. It was undeniably sweet and tender the way Kei brought out the
simple motion into many small kisses. His tongue and lips played over Sho’s in
such a way that the younger boy… no man, couldn’t seem to get enough.
Pulling back long enough to look at his partner, Kei
observed the flushed cheeks and wet lips begging for more. So against his
better judgment, he complied with another completely electric kiss, molding his
body back into Sho’s.
In the tangle of innocent touches, manipulating kisses and
almost planned movements, they lay on Kei’s bed now, Sho’s ever developing body
underneath Kei’s petite, yet powerful one.
“Kei? I…” Sho couldn’t even begin to relate the emotions and
the questions that seared through his mind. He just knew that those cool lips
were now moving from his face down to his neck and eliciting sounds from his
throat he didn’t know were there. He knew that the feeling of pleasure that ran
straight through his body down to a certain part of him was probably not
something he should feel, but he did.
“Shhh.” Was the only reply received, silencing any more
coherent thoughts trying to pass Sho’s lips. With persuasive hands, Kei managed
to bring about every response he cared to see from Sho’s body. He already
seemed to know everything and anything he could about the boy. It wasn’t long
until his light touches and deft motions left Sho’s body completely naked and
susceptible to his taking.
It occurred to Kei that in the haze of pleasure, Sho wasn’t
exactly aware of what was occurring. He knew his vampiric influences held some
blame there, but still he proceeded on. Short fingernails made quick
categorizations of every piece of skin he could reach, mapping Sho out into his
mind. He learned the spots that made his companion squeak with surprised
delight.
Over the hipbones, up ticklish sides to taunt abs and then
to tweak dusty pink nipples, Kei’s hands went through motions of their own as
his teeth and tongue lavished Sho’s shoulders and sensitive neck with
affection.
Pulling back, Kei wondered briefly how far he should take
this until he saw Sho’s body and the way tight muscles twitched with barely
restrained movements under smooth, perfect skin. Devoiding himself of his own
clothing, Kei began to prepare the younger for what was to come.
Even strokes taking over his body, Sho finally began to
relax once more, although it was now definite that Kei’s ministrations were
leaving a visible impact on him. Through soft, panting breaths, Sho managed to
look up at Kei and murmur something completely unintelligible.
The simple action provoked a smile from the cold vampire
moving over him, coaxing his legs up around a slim waist that he thought he may
break if he was not careful. Bringing Sho’s hand up to his lips, Kei whispered
reassuring words into the deaf palm as his other hand helped him guide himself
into place.
“It won’t hurt long.” Kei promised as he leaned forwards so
his lips were at Sho’s ear. In his mind, he added, even if it hurts at all.
Sometimes he tended to have that effect on people, leaving them unaware of the
pain through the pleasure until after the deed was done.
Following soft words, Kei kept his promise as he moved his
length into Sho. The receptive boy gasped out in a mix of feeling only to be
silenced by lips over his once more and a greedy tongue plundering his mouth.
Never one to waste time, the vampire began with even thrusts
into Sho’s body, a hand steadying the boy’s hips as they tried to meet his own
erratically, teaching the rhythm that he followed. At least Sho was never a
slow learner, though… because once he was led; he began to meet Kei’s motions
with his own, now more precise and in less of a hurry to reach a final end.
A hint of a smile passed Kei’s lips as they kissed and he
was able to let the hand on Sho’s hips move further to grasp at the arousal of
his only friend. He knew from the barely contained yell of his name that he
found that spot inside Sho that would bring this to its final close. The feel
of Kei’s hand and the feel of Kei inside of him wouldn’t leave him unsatisfied.
“Kei… Kei!” It was now a mantra, the way Sho repeated his
name over and over again. It made Kei work harder, faster to bring Sho more
pleasure, to bring himself to his end.
Only seeming like seconds from the time they began, Sho’s
body tensed, writhing in pleasure as he reached his peak and came, gasping Kei’s
name in praises the vampire knew he didn’t deserve. So silently he followed his
spent companion into bliss and Kei knew that this had already gone further than
it should.
It felt better than it should… he knew he shouldn’t feel lingering
warmth in his heart for this boy underneath him, already falling into a dazed
semi-unconscious state. Sighing, accepting the mess he had just made, Kei
pulled himself into Sho’s side, content to let them curl around each other,
limbs tangling underneath the blanket he managed to save from falling to the
floor from their activities.
It was going to be hell to deal with when Sho awoke and
questions were asked… especially questions of where this was going. But for
now, Kei was happy to live in a type of blissful ignorance. It felt too good
not to.
