Reviews for The Ruined Abbe

Thank you for this. It was an absolute treat! They are so in-character, and the intimacy is so gorgeous. I’m making a video tribute to Joaquin Phoenix, so I’m watching a lot of his films, and Quills always makes me want depraved stories of this pairing. I adored your story! I was hoping Marquis would teach Abbe a bit about blood play....maybe slip a knife under his pious collar and cut a shallow slit in his throat, then kiss the wound and leave a trail of bloody kisses up the column of his neck.... I should probably write that lol. Anyway, I loved your fic and how it entertwined with the story. Your version answers a lot of questions and is damn hot to boot. All the best to you <3

    Chapter 21

I won't leave spoilers but I will say that you achieved your goal, and done your job sublimely. I am prickled with gooseflesh, and it is delicious.

This has to be one of the most intriguing and captivating stories I've read on this site, and I'm utterly in awe of your skill. Bravissima!

    Chapter 20

Celie's story is an elegant counterpoint to Coulmier's journey. Her introduction to the depraved nature of the world leads her to salvation, of a sort, while Coulmier's salvation is much less clear. He is often is brutally honest as he tries to fathom his own reasons for his descent into whatever it is that Sade offers him. But perhaps, like Celie, he can find his way back to his God when he reaches that point he craves, to coax reaction from his colder lover.

I am so eager to see where this goes. It is just impossible to put this story out of my mind, and thank you for that, most sincerely. I am more than happy to be consumed by your words.

    Chapters 4 through 19

I meant to stop and leave more reviews as I read, but I could not stop reading. Each chapter was more compelling than the last, and at the end of each chapter, I couldn't quite bring myself to pause and review. I am a greedy reader, I fear.

But it was worth it to read this to the end, or at least to this point. You've managed to make Coulmier's fall both tragic and somehow inevitable, as if he were born solely to become this twisted and broken creature. His insight into his own dissolution strikes exactly the right notes of denial and resignation, and his colder Marquis is ruthless and gorgeous.

I will confess that the power of your writing was such that I was able to read the chapter with my particular squick (golden showers) without flinching.

I'll be waiting for the rest of this story eagerly, I promise!

    Chapters 1 through 3

I'd intended to read this through, and leave a long review at the end. However, I simply had to pause here, both to catch my own breath and to stop to let you know how glorious this is to read. This very first encounter, this initial foray into the forbidden, is both breathtakingly erotic and perfectly evocative. I'm going to confess to not having seen the movie, but that does not at all hamper my utter enjoyment of your delicious story.

I'm going back to reading now, but I just needed to pause and thank you for one of the most well written and consuming pieces of fiction on the site.

Just wanted to reassure you that there are people reading this wonderful work, so please don't get disheartened!

I just love the weighted exchanges, the anticipation you build in your descriptions & dialogue. It's also a very arousing, disturbing piece. You've taken care to have really authentic speech in the fic, that really shows.

I especially love the Abbe's reactions to getting penetrated for the first time - the details of his inner conflict warring with his excitement are delicious!

Please do continue, I'm a huge fan.

Wow, amazing writing! I love how dark and dangerous Sade is, but not entirely cruel. Can't wait to see where the story goes.
