I'm surprised that you haven't gotten more hits on this fic because it really is interesting and well written. I like that you chose to write about Ichabod and Katrina's marriage and life in New York. That is by and large unbroken ground. Most writers tend to eliminate Katrina and create an OC for Ichabod to become involved with, and I really don't understand why when he and Katrina were so cute together in the film. I like the fact that you wrote a case for Ichabod to solve too. But, I thought the best aspects of the fic were the scenes between him and Katrina. My favorite was the scene where Ichabod scolds Katrina for buying his favorite brand of tea, and then, she turns it around on him by snatching the bottle of perfume he bought for her (AWW!!!! He's really a darlin'). I LOVE his reply that he gets as much pleasure from it as she does. That was a sweet and sexy moment between the two of them. The actual love scene also had steam and sweetness. The latter was most noticeable when Ichabod thought back to the pain she experienced when he took her virginity (I repeat--He's a darlin'). I also like the scenes where Katrina worried over him working too hard and protected him by knocking out the NASTY chief constable. I would have liked to have seen a second love scene between the two at the fic's end, and I wondered where young Masbeth had disappeared off too. I rationalized that he was off in a boarding school somewhere in town. Those were my only complaints with this fic, and they were minor. Oh, one more thing before I close the review. I like your comment about how Ichabod's mother thought that he should have become a "school teacher". That was a nice nod to Irving's original story. In fact, it brought back memories for me. I was in vet school when this movie came out, and I remember thinking I'm going to hate it because Burton's tinkered with the original short story (which I'm quite fond of). But, boy was I wrong. The film was different, but it wasn't inferior. I can rarely say that when literature and film collide. The written version is almost always better; it wasn't here. Both were equally good. But, I digress. Now, let me get back to your fic. I REALLY enjoyed it, and I HOPE that there will be a chapter 2. Your title suggests there will be a sequel, and if so, I eagerly await it.
