Well, this is the second time I'm reading this fic, and it is just as wonderful as the last time that I read it! :) I am definitely looking forward to the sequel, but *sigh* it has yet to appear. I hope that you are well!

wow... you had me going back and forth there for a while. Poor Cass... I cried as she ran from the house... just knowning that he struck again and it was her niece this time. I could feel her pleasure and disgust as she killed Burns... and the hate from Vek when he found out that she was raped... i shuddered at teh thought of even imagining that glare... it was a wonderfully well written and thought out action drama and i certainly can not wait for part 2 =] ... i shall eagerly awaitt he next chapter of this saga

Oh my God, Prairiefire, I want to apologize for one of my reviews. I was looking over what I wrote and I made a terrible blunder. When I wrote that your work was superfluous, it was a collasal mistake. I meant superlative. Please forgive me. I think your story is superlative! It’s excellent! Geez, I feel like such a bonehead now. Chalk it up to it being late at night, and I was sleepy and didn’t pay attention to what my spell check was fixing my spelling to. Yikes. Forgive me.

    Chapter 20

All right, where’s part 2? lol

I absolutely loved this story Prairiefire and I love Vek’rin’ka too. I think you have done an amazing job bringing these two very different people together. And while they haven’t acknowledged it yet, you can tell that they love each other. The respect and trust shows in everything they do. This definitely is a different kind of love story and hot damn, it was very exciting too!

Excellent Job!! I bow to the master! I shall be waiting with baited breath for your next installment!

    Chapter 19

Now this was a non-stop action chapter too! And you describe everything so well! Do you get exhausted sometimes writing these I wonder?

“Nothing would keep him from killing the Bad Blood that dared to harm what was his.” Now I absolutely love the way Vek’rin’ka is so protective over Cass, considering her to be his. It just so...well you know...romantic. And Vek’rin’ka is such a badass, I love it! Of course you know already that I’m sweet on him. I wish someone like him would come and watch over me! (sigh) Of course he’d be bored to death if he did, but that’s not the point! lol

Al’brk’vix was a pig hurting Cass the way he did! I must say though, I am somewhat fascinated with the yautja’s much larger anatomy. I’m assuming Vek’rin’ka is built like that as well, right? lol

Now for the good part! I had been waiting for Vek’rin’ka to kick Al’brk’vix’s sorry ass, so this was great! Excellent fight at the end! And I think that Cass and Vek’rin’ka make a really good pair. I mean, she really is a badass herself and she helps Vek’rin’ka, instead of just waiting to be rescued, even when she is really hurt. I like that.

Anyway excellent chapter, as usual!!! Now I don’t want your story to end. :-(

    Chapter 18

Wow again! Now this chapter was not stop action! I absolutely loved it!!! Again your action scenes are superb! I really think "Predator 3" should have been your story instead of the dismal “Predator vs. Alien” clunker. I was completely riveted reading this and I’m delighted about what happened to Cach and Burns. I knew this was going to be good with all of them coming together, but really, great job!!! Now I need to go read chapter 19 and see what is going to happen with Cass. Yikes!

    Chapter 16-17

Wow Prairiefire, I’m starting to get bummed now that I’m getting so much closer to the end. You have me so wrapped up in the world of Cass and Vek’rin’ka that I just want to keep reading.

Again I think you handle the relationship between Cass and Vek’rin’ka beautifully. You really do an excellent job of bringing them closer together and you do it with so few words. “I thought you left,” Cass says, and you really can feel the pain in her voice. Chapter 16 is mostly just those two getting to know each other and I loved it, especially the unveiling of Vek’rin’ka’s mask. After all, we all know Vek’rin’ka is rather startling to look at, but you made it seem so natural that Cass would accept him. Very nice!

And actually that is one thing I would like to bring up. You know at first I thought Sonya’s fate was really too harsh, but now I know why you did it. It was because Cass would never break the law otherwise. She also might not have been as open to Vek’rin’ka either. The shock and horror made her drop all her previous boundaries and beliefs, leaving her open to a new way of thinking. Great Job! Again I am impressed.

You had me worried there for a second when Vek’rin’ka went back to the ship, leaving Cass in the hotel room to play her guitar. I thought Al’brk’vix had come for her.

And I’m glad that Cach and his buddies beat the shit out of Burns. Burns really is rather stupid though if he thinks people will provide him with little girls. Even hardened criminals think child killers are scum of the Earth.

I’m glad that Vek’rin’ka smells a trap, that way he will be on his guard. It’s really starting to build now. All your characters, Al’brk’vix, Cach, Burns, Cass and Vek’rin’ka are all going to the same warehouse. This is going to be good, isn’t it!!

    Excellent Job!

    Chapter 13-15

Yay I’m back and I finally had some time to continue with your story. I have to tell you, I really had difficulty stopping this time. This story is just so action packed and intriguing, I absolutely love it!

So first off, we start out seeing Al’brk’vix licking his wounds. He really is quite the chump isn’t he? He’s such a hypocrite, deeming the proper behavior for a warrior, when he himself is a coward and a rapist. It’s amazing that he thinks of himself so superior. It will be his undoing I’m sure. It does make me nervous though that he is stalking Cass.

Cach is about as bad too, with an ego as big as Alaska. I’m wondering now what he is planning to do with Burns. Maybe if were lucky, they’ll torture him a bit.

Running Wolf seems to be one of the few good guys, bringing information to Cass about Cach. It would be just like Cach to use her grief against her when she’s down. I absolutely loved the fact that she threw hot coffee in his face.

I think you are doing a wonderful job as well bringing Vek’rin’ka and Cass together slowly. Not to mention, you really do pay attention to the little things like Cass not being able to pronounce his name and Vek’rin’ka losing his voice trying to speak English. It’s those little details that make your story just come alive. Vek’rin’ka really is good for Cass in so many ways, not letting her wallow too much in her grief.

The end was really exciting, and satisfying as well, with Vek’rin’ka being his badass self, eliminating some of the members of Cach’s team. Vek’rin’ka’s probably right though about Cass not being too comfortable with seeing his trophy case. I keep wondering if he has an Alien skull in his trophy case, just like in the movie. And I am glad they are able to talk easier with the translator.

Great Job! Really this story is superfluous!!

    Chapter 11-12

You know I think you’ve handled Cass’ grief extremely well. You can just feel her pain, numbness and shock. You even go through the horrible physical effects that her grief is putting her through with the vomiting and dizziness. I feel so sorry for her. She has lost everything that she ever held dear. I’m sure this wasn’t easy to write. It’s so intense and there is so much raw emotion in it. You must have been exhausted when you were through.

That was a nice touch the way you ended chapter 11 with Cass recalling the story of the invisible man.

I also loved the way you brought Vek’rin’ka and Cass together. Really it was beautifully done. You brought them together so slowly and gracefully, nothing rushed or out of beat. It was great the way you showed what was going through both of their minds -- Cass’ fear and Vek’rin’ka impatience. I was riveted. Then Cass falls asleep in Vek’rin’ka arms – very nice!

    Excellent Chapter!!!

    Chapter 10

Well this chapter begins as one of reflection, with everyone recuperating from the horror that’s already happened. Again I am saddened that Cass’s partner was killed.

As always I love to read Vek’rin’ka’s observations. It’s so intriguing to see the world through his eyes. You know I finally watched “Predator 2” last night and I had to laugh. Because of your story, I was rooting for the Predator the whole way through. lol
    I couldn’t help it. I kept thinking about Vek’rin’ka.

Of course you are unable to keep things slow for long. (That’s a good thing!) And now Cass is racing out the door to her home, Vek’rin’ka accompanying her.

OH MY GOD! I am stunned!!! I just read what happened and I feel horrible. In a million years I would never have expected that. I guess I am too used to movies where everyone turns out to be okay. You’ve left me numb and gasping. It’s too awful! At least Cass is not alone, she got Vek’rin’ka. Of course she doesn’t know that yet.

And Cach is starting to piss me off, I hope someone kicks him in the nuts. And Burns -- he better be going down! I want that man to bleed!!! You’ve got me all rowed up now!

    Chapter 8-9

Hey thanks for bringing chapter 8 back! I’m delighted I can continue!

You know I think I’m falling for Vek’rin’ka. You can stay in his point of view as long as you want. It makes me feel closer to him. :D

And I’m glad he’s watching over Cass, protecting her you might say. I’m afraid what Al’brk’vix might do to her, if he gets a hold of her.

Somehow I don’t think Cass will be taking that mandatory vacation. She seems like a very determined woman.

It was interesting to see more of Vek’rin’ka world. The counsel almost sounds like the inquisition with all their questioning. I feel for Vek’rin’ka --poor guy. They shouldn’t nit-pick him when he’s the one risking his neck. I guess that’s something the oomans have in common with the Yautjas.

Anyway, another wonderful couple of chapters!

By the way, are you familiar with the work of Luis Royo? He’s an amazing fantasy artist. Indeed as an Art student I just drool over his work. Your story makes me think of several of his pictures. Here, check out this website and you’ll see why.

    Hi Prairiefire,
I’m missing chapter 8. You actually have two chapter 9’s posted. You wouldn’t still happen to have chapter 8 would you? I would love to read it. I hate to move on without it. I feel like I'm skipping ahead otherwise. Thanks a bunch. :D
